Stony Brook Coaches

SBU Defensive Coordinator, and former long-time LIU/LIU Post HC,
Bryan Collins passed away today. Love or hate the program,
Collins brought a lot of football knowledge and respect to the
coaching staff over the last few years and was a true
professional in every sense of the word. The Long Island
football community, as well as the rest of the world lost a good
man.

I said from day one when he was hired. Collins would be a great
replacement as HC at SBU. Another setback for the program . I
feel bad for his family. So young!!

I was amazed yesterday by all the tributes that came pouring in
for Coach Collins from former players and coaches that played
for him and or coached under him.
One story that I know of is he had a grad assistant at LIU and
he wanted to keep him on his staff and the school didn’t want to
pay for him so Collins had LIU take money from his salary so
this young man could stay on.

With this shocking news and the 2023 season right around the
corner what does Coach P do for his next DC. Coach Collins
installed a brand new defense so my thinking is one of the
defensive coaches gets named interim DC for the 2023 season, my
pick would be Diamond Weaver.

The timing could not have been any worse. it is unfortunate.
Sadly, and I want to pin this on coach P, but I can't, this team
is going to play poorly again this year, especially on D.
Collins brought in some good players on D. What are their
thoughts now? Transfer out. The hits keep on hitting.

Coach Collins was a very nice man and a great football coach. It
is a big loss. I am thinking about his family. He did a lot for
college football on Long Island.

I just came back from his Wake the place was packed it was a
testament of how many liked and respected him. He was one of the
best human beings that I’ve ever known and he will be missed.
His wife, daughter and son were holding up the best that they
could.
