Why do I think they will win at least 6 games; the two new
coordinators are definitely upgrades to who they had last year,
the influx of FBS Transfers, after being one of the worst teams
in the FCS last season Coach P is more motivated than he’s been
in years to win and the only way to improve recruiting and
attendance is to win more games.

It took five losing and embarasing seasons for the coach to be
more motivated? I dont see the fan base getting excited because
coach p is more motivated to win this season. Name one school
that would hire coach P to lead there program. There are none in
d1. Heilbron isnt a catch for another school either. they
deserve each other. People get tired of the BS hype before
seasons start and Heilbron is good at shoveling that pile of dog
crap. Fans are smarter and they have no expectations for success
with this program.
Dropping football woudn't disappoint too many people. It would
excite a lot for fans because the money could go to basketball
where it belongs based on the five years of failure.

I think coach has always been motived to win but he just hasnt
figured out how to do it the past five years and if Hofstra
didnt fold their program how would those years have looked
without those hofstra players?

Wow, every university seems to have people step up to sh-t on
the football program, especially when it's down. Faced this
stuff when we went FBS calling it a mistake etc and they created
such a stir the administratration to this day is under funding
football by 1M compared to being fcs. Once committing to FBS
donations have increased, including some large donations that
made moving to FBS standards possible and helped with the 18
Million projects in 2019, which included a full size Indoor
PRactice Facility. Luckily we have a very good coach that cares
about bring football back to it's former glory. Hope someday you
all can experience it.
A decade ago, Stony Brook football played in the Big
South Conference alongside current FBS teams Coastal Carolina
and Liberty. During its time in the Big South, Stony Brook
earned bragging rights on the field and went a combined 7-3
against the Chanticleers and the Flames.
In the present day, however, it is them who are laughing.
Coastal Carolina and Liberty were both regularly ranked during
the 2020 season in the AP Top 25 at the FBS level, with the
former reaching as high as No. 9. The two schools faced off in
the Cure Bowl, which was broadcast on ESPN to 2.6 million
viewers, the most-watched bowl game among teams in the Group of
Five, the non-power FBS conferences, since 2017.
Meanwhile, Stony Brook, who regularly beat both schools from
2008 to 2012, was left languishing in the FCS despite being more
successful than them a decade ago and boasting vastly superior
academics.
The Chanticleers joined the Sun Belt from the Big South
beginning in 2016, needing to expand their football stadium’s
capacity from 9,124 in order to reach the FBS minimum of 15,000.
By 2017, Brooks Stadium seated 15,500 with the $38 million
expansion fully completed in 2019, seating 20,000.
Meanwhile, Liberty was able to get a waiver that allowed it to
advance to the FBS as an independent without being a member of a
conference. Since a 2010 expansion, Williams Stadium has been
above the FBS capacity standard.
Stony Brook was dealt a devastating blow in 2015 when disgraced
former New York governor Andrew Cuomo vetoed $22.2 million
allocated for the expansion of Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, which
currently has a capacity of 12,300. Stony Brook had partnered
with Populous, the architectural firm which designed Citi Field,
Gillette Stadium and Prudential Center, among other stadiums,
for the potential project.
It is difficult to understate the long-lasting damage that
Cuomo’s veto did to Stony Brook University.
If you believe in your program, you have to vocal and fight for
FBS! There is an obscene amount of money available with the
College Football Playoffs. Without a conference we are under
utilizing CFP money earning close to 1M, which is more money
than we receive from the A10. The money is not there for fcs
conferences. Middle tier G5 conferences earn around 30M or 2.5M
per member.

Even if SBU wanted to go FBS. Had the financial backing. And got
and invite to a G5 conference. They would still have a HC
problem. Chucky cheese would get crushed by every FBS school
they play. They would probably be worse than UMASS and UCONN and
constantly be in last place ..
This institution has made it quite clear that they dont care
about Wins and losses. I’ve been saying that for years. If they
did. Coach P and SH would have been fired a long time ago.
I’ve given up hope with this school and really don’t care what
they do. Fire the two politically driven people I mentioned, and
bring in real sports minded talent. Then I might show an
interest. Until then. I watch FBS only now..

Wow, very sad. We had a similar HC issue when we moved up and
then being independent made the coaching pool small. Luckily we
have Don Brown back that is very under paid. That said making
noise etc at this point can not hurt. If it's what you believe
in, you can take any stones tossed your way. Not my fight. Good
luck and certainly do not know the politics of New York.

SB will NEVER be an FBS program and its a joke to even think
that. They cant compete at the FCS level and have secretly
extended their coach with five straight losing seasons. There
isnt a big donor group there and the top two administrators in
athletics have watched season ticket sales and attendance
plummet.
The college landscape is changing and Heilbron and SB have been
left in the dust. They are way behind on NIL and there NIL will
not raise much money at all. If you drop football you can focus
on basketball where a real chance of getting an NCAA check
awaits. Did you see the NIL is made up of lacrosse people who
have no experience raising money? Have any of you heard from any
of them?
FBS? haha.

At least in the FCS nobody knows we're getting our sh!t pushed
in because nobody cares. That 2-10 record in the FBS becomes
much more high profile because everyone would know we're trash.
We'd wind up in the weekly bottom 10 all the time, etc.
The one sliver lining in being totally inept.
