Simons Gift To SBU

The Simons foundation gave SBU $500 Million Dollars to be
however they choose and supposedly for every two dollars that
they receive NYS will give another $1 so the $500M will become a
lot more so hopefully the Athletic Department gets a portion for
the Stadium and other facilities. In April I was at a clinic and
even though the facility is fairly new it’s already in need of
repairs and the stadium also needs repairs and upgrades so let’s
hope that happens

I can hope some of this makes it to athletics, but given how
things have been going.... even if athletics got every damn cent
I wouldn't be very optimistic

In every article i have read it shows where the money will be
going and its very specific. Sports is not mentioned so athletic
dept won't get any and they shouldnt if the donor didnt want it.
Its Heilbrons job to raise the money. The properties managed by
his department are falling apart. Our daughter has graduated and
i enjoyed watching her play there but the stadium is falling
apart and the basketball arena is showing a lot of wear and
tear. The football program shouldnt get any money for how they
have done the last five years its embarasing. I dont know how he
gave the coach an extension. I dont think the president has any
respect for that department.

Just heard that Jim Simons passed, which is a terrible loss for
the SB community.

It could be argued that Simons is the single most influential
person in SBU history.
