I want to see what the new OC does with the SBU offense before I
pass judgement
Agreed. The few times I saw Maine I was impressed with their
offensive scheme.
I am concerned that the last two times we faced Maine - with
Maine’s offense led by our current offensive coordinator- we
won. And we didn’t win very many games the last two years. So,
the addition of Maine’s offensive coordinator plus the addition
of a VERY inexperienced SUNY Buffalo backup QB does not inspire
confidence.
(Certainly, we won’t really know how effective our offense is
until we see how effective our offense is. But I would be more
optimistic if either one of those two (or Priore) was coming off
a remotely successful season.)

Recruiting is on the schedule because at least 6 HS Players from
LI for the 2024 Class have committed elsewhere already or are
leaning in that direction. However the DL is leaning to SBU and
they have a short at least another 4 but and it’s a big but the
team has to show progress another words be in every game and
show that they can play with the top teams in the CAA

Spallina discussed this years ago. A failure of SBU athletics is
the inability to keep LI kids on LI. He worked very hard to fix
that for women's lacrosse, and that has changed quite a bit.
There isn't a TON of LI talent in football, but we should be
keeping the best of it year in and year out. If Priore doesn't
have the faith of LI kids and LI coaches, he's done. Regardless
of record. Hard stop.

I agree they should do better going after the talented long
island kids but there are a few things going on. There are less
kids playing football on long island the past few years and the
talent is not as good today as it was years ago. If you have a
kid who is that good they are not going to look at stony brook
because of the five years of losing seasons and the coaching.
The head coach is not liked at all by local coaches. Stony brook
is the only FCS school talking about rebuilding which is a joke.
With the portal other schools are reloading not claiming to be
rebuilding. SB is getting kids from the portal who sat on the
bench at their other school and wanting you to believe theyre
gonna be great here. Well that hasnt worked out.
The last local kid who was good in high school was Mckee. He was
used and treated badly in the opinion of many at SB. his father
got beat up in the stands at albany and needed medical
attention. a proud moment for SB. The word is out in local high
schools. stay away from sb unless you have no where else to go.

Spallina is a very good coach. He hasnt done a great job keeping
long island kids either. he finds poorly recruited kids who have
become stars. Ohlmiller, Rubino, Kennedy, Murphy but a lot of
top tier talent has left the island for other schools because of
the conference. America east was horrible and lacks talent and
the Colonial isnt much better. With that being said the guy wins
championships with his long island kids which isnt something
football does.

SBU has a lot of HS Football Players that were stars on their HS
Teams as an example; Hoerter William Floyd, Kaler Sayville,
Melendez Sachem North just to name a few there are plenty of
others. So far they have two for the 2024 Class Alex Menghi St.
Anthony’s and Gabe Blowes of Westhampton Beach
There are a lot of very good 2024 QB’s,RB’s on LI however right
now I don’t see any of them being a Scholarship Player

yes and part of that failure has nothing to do with sports- it's
the U generally. sports take up a lot of time, but not all your
time. given two choices, do you go to school where there's
nothing to do, or something to do?

ANY kid of any talent that comes here is doing themselves an
injustice. This is a losing program and not saying players, I'm
saying coaching and support.....all losers
