Recruiting good athletes wasn't really the main problem with SBU
football. The problem always lies with quality coaches. Chucky
Cheese is NOT a good college coach, and he doesn't have what it
takes to take these good athletes and make them great athletes.
The only way to stay competitive in the upper-tier FCS is to
have really good college coaches who can groom kids into being
great football players.
After years, and essentially two decades of coach P, SBU has
proven to us they don't care about winning. It really is all a
facade. Just to say, hey, were are SBU and we are also a D1
school. Well, who cares if you are a D! or D3 school? If your
sports program is not competitive enough to be nationally
recognized. then why bother? Take that money and put it into
science, math, or something else. Don't waste athletes' time
with false promises of winning the big game. Most
Student-athletes choose a school to play in their prospective
sport of choice, To be possibly nationally recognized, and to
maybe make a career out of sports with the hopes of making money
doing what they love. And that is winning.
SBU is not known for its athletics, but more for its education.
I believe they should just leave it at that. Follow Hartford's
lead. They gave up D1 sports, and Hofstra abandoned Football. It
is okay to throw the towel in if you can't be successful at
something.

I tend to agree. Depending on how much money the school is
losing from having football, put that towards academics, student
life, or advertising instead.

Five years of empty stadium and arena. Theres a lot of people
who say they should drop football and focus on basketball where
the real money is. Since we havent heard anything and we're
almost halfway through july I think its safe to assume Heilbron
has been secretly extended for two or three years. its a dam
shame. What could have been at SBU.

If anyone is interested on Saturday July 29 SBU is hosting their
7 on 7 on campus. There will be around 24 HS Teams participating
and they hail from LI and the 5 Boroughs
With us in July official offers can now go out in writing. The
reason this is important is how potential recruits see the SBU
Football Program. If they feel that the program is in good hands
then it will be an excellent class, however if they feel the
program is not good then the 2024 class will be mediocre at best

I'd venture to say Heilbron's contract is for another 5 years.
He fits right into the SUNY system well. All he needs to do is
to continue with his BS talk of being great every year and say
yes to the bigwigs up in Albany. Dont buck the trend and think
outside the WOKE box.. If you do all that, you'll be making
350,000 a year as AD here for life, and don't worry about W and
L. That doesn't matter. What does matter these days is. You
don't piss anybody off. You make sure Hazing never goes on in
the locker room. You say yes to the President about everything.
Do your weekly blog online and talk about how great the
athletics department is doing, and the great direction it is
headed. Do all that and SBU is your home. Enjoy..

Enjoy an empty stadium and arena with tiny ticket sales.
