Man if Frankie did decide to stay for some strange reason, this
       team can be really exciting

I like the way this team is coming together. By the time the
conference tournament rolls around, we're going to have eight
guys with 50+ games of Division I experience under their belts,
and TSM (if he stays), Maidoh and Clarke would be up over 130.
Think about that compared to what we entered the CAAs with this
       past year.
Might Policelli re-evaluate his options and see that he fits
       right in?
With the conference move, I was expecting to draw more
three-star types from power conference programs (a la Fitz) but
so far we've seen more instances of pulling starters/rotation
players from lower-tier D-I teams. I feel as though that's been
the case across the conference, and when you see a team like
Charleston have the year it had with guys from West Liberty,
Wofford, Bethel and the juco level, who's to say it can't work?
       [/quote]
Charleston has a HC who can teach, and groom decent players to
be really good players. Ford has a history of doing the
       opposite.
I am not nearly as excited as you and a few others in here who
believe subpar players from weak conferences are going to
magically become superstars. I just don’t see it. Maybe if Ford
can bring in those 3 star transfers or high school players, then
my decision would be different. Until that happens, I see a
losing team once again next season

Friendly reminder that we are Stony Brook University. Excellent
in many ways, but a destination for elite hoop talent, a program
with rich basketball tradition, we are not (yet). Note also that
the good players at smaller schools are the bench players at
elite schools. See Tykei Greene, Andrew Garcia, etc etc., except
the small-school guys have 100 games under their belts whereas
       the three-stars do not.
We can't realistically expect to bring in superstars. We can
expect to bring in guys to play a role, which Snoddy and Maidoh
will do. I think we have a strong nucleus, particularly if TSM
stays, and solid depth with everybody back to full health.
Charleston just brought a PG from, where, Lafayette, who
       averaged 10, 5 and 5 with 2 steals a night. He's going to ball
out for them. It feels like the trend is for players to move up
rather than down to the CAA, and if we can mine the lower
programs for game-tested talent and sprinkle in some diamonds
that just need to be polished we should be good.

Audio interview with Geno. Interview over an hour and 20
minutes… pretty interesting things said. Great job and great
       interview

Everyone should listen to that interview great insights very
candid. Great work Statesman put Newsday to shame.

       Really nice listen.
       Takeaways:
       - TSM will be back. Massive.
       - Policelli will not. Makes sense to see the world a bit.
       - TO was going to be *redshirted* last year and ended up being
       our lead PG.
       - Nahar (aka The Barber) has put on 15-20 pounds.
       - Geno sounded pleased with the exits this offseason.

Really enjoyed that Podcast. That interviewee, Mike Anderson,
is mature beyond his years. So nice to have a Sports Editor
that shares this kind of information - otherwise, it's just
speculation and rumors that us old timers generate on this
board! Let's hope for great health this upcoming season. Great
to hear to TSM seems to be committed to coming back.

it is. both did great on this interview.
8 players healthy, 3 of which played the same position. that's
tough no matter how you slice it. especially in a new
       conference with a new roster.
he was very funny to joke that even he got injured this year,
that made me laugh. ;D he handled it very well.
sounds like TSM, fitz, noll, and clarke return. also muratower,
frey, sabry (still hurt), tobyO, nahar. yes, TSM returns,
confirmed. so everyone should be happy with that.
maybe 20% in, i think geno made some comments about elijah,
which we already knew. locker room issues.
sounds like the policeman left on great terms, which is nice to
hear. the way ford describes how much more dynamic frankie was
this year (rebounds, paint play, etc.) is accurate. that's
going to bode well for his future prospects.
geno made a good point halfway about players leaving mostly for
P5 schools, as opposed to more "lateral" moves. of course,
there are exceptions, but i interpreted that as limited to
       anyone good.

Have to say that I have been impressed with Statesman lately
too. Between this informative podcast, and that really good
piece last year about the attendance and culture issues (which I
heard from a source actually really pissed Heilbron off a lot!)

Geno sure has the gift of gab.
My only criticism: It was a little chummy. Referring to a coach
as "my man" just shouldn't happen IMO. Granted, the Statesman
did just write two strong pieces that didn't pull many/any
punches, but nevertheless, it immediately hints that what's
coming is more media relations than journalism. I'm trying to
think if the non-Carton NY radio personalities use this kind of
       language when talking to coaches.
If he was asked once more about his precarious job status, that
       would have been impressive.
