Hopefully I’m reading this correctly - Jon Rothstein just
tweeted
“ One big theme going on right now in college basketball:
The NCAA and compliance offices have made it clear that two-time
transfers are going to have a very hard time earning immediate
eligibility.
This could affect how many programs approach recruiting in
PORTAL KOMBAT.”
Wouldn’t Frankie fall under this ??? He transferred to from
Dayton to stony and now from stony to wherever. Wonder if this
would force him to stay unless he’s okay with sitting out a year
?
Frankie transferred before the one-time free rule went into
effect and sat out a year. Aside from that, he also graduates
this year. Not sure if he did his bachelors in 4.5 years, as is
very common with the football team, or if he already has his
B.A./B.S. and is going for a master's. Either way, he can still
grad transfer and be eligible automatically. So he's got grad
transfer or free transfer going for him.

At 6’6”, and a big rebounder, he’ll certainly help fill the
Policelli void. Nice to see another Long Island kid come to SBU.
Looks like a nice pick-up.

They say rebounding is the one stat that translates the best
across higher levels, so that's a good get for us.

Seems like a nice pickup. Was a double-double machine at NEC
level. NEC All-rookie team in his freshman year. Didn’t
have a big jump from his first to second year stat wise.
Let’s see how he does against tougher CAA opponents. I bit
undersized at 6-6, but it’s mid-major. I’m excited.
Per @TheHoopHerald, Jalen Avery recruited him.

Kaine Roberts is in the portal, which means three players so far
are in. Roberts, Frankie and Pettaway
I feel terrible saying it, but this is the one I was waiting
for.
Depth chart updated.
The backcourt is solid as is. I could see TSM having a wandering
eye given his success, but it'd be great to keep him, see him go
over 1,000 points and play alongside Noll, Clarke, Onyekonwu,
etc. With these two openings, we need to get on the glass.

Snoddy made so much sense the second he entered the portal. It
was just a question of whether we had space on the roster.
It feels good going into the year that, at present, we have a
backcourt that will fill a lot of the voids we had this past
year (scoring, experience, ballhandling, depth, hopefully
shooting). Of course, we have a long way to go to May 11 when
the portal closes. 🤞🏼

Middlebury transfer Alex Sobel, the D3 National Player of the
Year has heard from:
UMass
Northeastern

Sacred Heart
Toledo

Quinnipiac
Fairfield
The 6’8” senior forward averaged 19.4 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.2
assists, and 3.9 blocks.
He played at Ward Melville. Not sure how he will hold up with D1
players.. the portal is loaded right now, I hope we get a bigger
name then this.

These are the best of the best clips for Sobel. If he wants to
walk on here, I'm good with that.

Worth noting: Tykei entered the portal on 6/23 last year and
committed on 6/29, so we're far from out of the woods with the
current roster. Hoping things are more or less set though.
