Previews are starting to trickle in. There's a pretty good one
at cbbalmanac.com but you have to pay for it. Nothing
groundbreaking but I appreciate the transparency and
       thoroughness anyway.
That writer picks us to finish seventh behind Charleston, UNC
Wilmington, Drexel, Hofstra, Delaware and Towson, but according
to the anonymous coaches' poll, we're also designated as the
"sleeper team." TSM picked for second team all-CAA.
One other interesting note: Two writers have Michigan State
winning it all this year, two others have them as the national
runner-up, and a fifth has them reaching the Final Four.

Here's a pretty good rundown of what to expect courtesy of The
Almanac – a Jeff Goodman outfit. Nothing groundbreaking I'd say,
but I appreciate the thoroughness and transparency. A lot of
these writers don't do any legwork. I think this guy did.

That was a great article, and actually has me excited for this
upcoming season. Let's hope they stay healthy, and that Geno
has some fire in his belly to get it done this year. I would
love to see them take a leap and finish 5th or 6th in the
       Conference during season play.

thanks so much for this. its so odd to go from an understaffed
squad to go to full-on senior laden with experience. but such
       is life in 2023.
on that note- the team next near is looking a bit low on size
and paint players (always depends on who is really a covid
senior). we should get on that immediately if not sooner. one
transfer out and we are dangerously low.
more meat on tobyO- that's a good development.
with FB playing terrible, this is what we have to hang on to.
there's a lot riding on this team.
PS- i thought i heard decades ago that it was an NCAA violation
for coaches to practice with the team. it's hardly relevant
here but now i'm curious- and if it is illegal, why admit it.

Thats all that guy is good for saying you should keep believing
like after ten years with him and the decay of our athletics
programs anything will change for the better. If you ask me we
cant believe in your failure anymore.

been to see a Stony Brook team play since the pandemic.

Not sure in what thread to put this in, so here we go:
Fairfield University announced today that Jay Young, the
University’s Head Men’s Basketball Coach, has stepped down from
his position and will be leaving the University.

For what it's worth, KenPom has us starting out at 276 on its
list of 362 Division I teams, finishing 13-18 and 7-11 in
conference. Six of our first 15 games will be against teams in
       the top 100.
If we finish anywhere close to 276, it will be difficult to
justify keeping Geno. I say top 175 and it's a consideration.
With this group, I suspect we get there and he's renewed; just a
       hunch.
