Well you're right, waivers in sports mean players who got
cut/released.. I asked trevor about changing the name to avoid
confusion.

Indeed. Free agency is for players to decide their teams based
on offers like playing time and man love (Uranus). If a player
is released from a team, then they go through waivers.
