Hexor will stop in his tracks.
"That's . . . I . . .," he stutters. "It is nothing like that at
all. That is just how things are done. Some things should never
be spoken a loud, and in a land of eternal silence, using sign
is second nature. We discussed business, of a sort, between her
and the House in the times to come. " He steps close and lowers
his voice. "Her family, back home, were known to be experts in
gathering knowledge as well as the go to choice in personal
removals. They owed their allegiance to no single House, but to
the city as a whole. Their services are costly, but worth it,
and they are rarely, if ever, paid in coin. Secrects are their
currency.”
He steps closer and speaks in low tones, his eyes intense, “If
we could convince someone like that, with those skills, to aid
us or even better to be adopted into the family formally, do you
realize the opportunities that opens to us?”

Kiran raises his eyebrows, looking impressed. "All right, I get
it. You truly know how to find people, don't you?" He squeezes
Hexor's shoulder with a grin. "Only don't let Mara hear you talk
about adopting anyone. Or worse, our dear bard."
His expression turns just a teeny bit worried. "Just be careful
with the secrets, and you'll tell me about all the opportunities
later."

"I found you didn't I?" Hexor says, glancing at Kiran. "I'm sure
there are many opportunities we can discuss . . . later," he
replies with a laugh. "For now though, we have many, many, other
things that need attending to. Shall we go?"
As Hexor begins to walk down the street he turns his head and
glances back. "Under no circumstances will you tell Mara about
my. . . slip of phrasing back there, ever" he says with mock
murder in his eyes and a playful smile on him lips. "She would
never let me hear the end of it."

OK people! Being a DM I know how hard it is plan a game and it
is only worse when you have an open game like this one.
Therefore I strongly request that each of you reflect on your
characters and figure out what they want out of life. What goals
do they wish to achieve? How can they get there? Then forward
these ideas on the Amber so she can begin writing them in. I
feel guilty because I feel that I have kind of highjacked the
game's narritive lately with everything being about rebuilding
Hexor's House. Given that all the legal work is done on that
end, Hexor's just needs to wait a year for everything to be
built. In the mean time, he REALLY needs to come up with some
cash, or a means of cashflow such as trade routes, monster
hunting, selling artifacts, etc. He would be open to any
suggestions on leads that could aid in this, opening the
narritive for just about anything people want to do. I know it
is just after the holiday weekend for some of us and some of us
want others to die in a fire of jealousy (SERIOUSLY COLEE THOSE
ARK PICTURES ARE AMAZING!! I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GO TO
ANY PAX YET), but if we could all please spend some time on
this. The more Amber has to work with the better the game will
be.
