Event Organisation and Specifics

To discuss possible suggestions on the running of the event for
SATT 2015
MF: The 2014 organisation was very good, Jean Michel did a
fantastic job and is irreplaceable. However we need to have a
clear command of the event (The go to Boss of Sailing Arabia The
Tour). From this it is much easier to know who to approach if
there are any questions or queries.
MF: The shore team was perfect.
MF: The Media was good, however if we are all paying an entry
fee, then it is highly unfair to our sponsors that EFG Bank
Monaco and Al Thuraya get more publicity than the external
teams. The brief needs to be changed from SATT '14 to be fair to
all teams. (This was a point from our sponsors).
MF: Committee boat, it seems a waste of energy and money to use
a small committee boat like SATT '13 and SATT '14. Then best
thing is to have the committee boat from SATT '11 and SATT '12
and remove the logistics costs and other costs as this vessel
was the perfect platform to host briefings, transport important
luggage, transport events team, transport media team (camera
men) and be seaworthy.
MF: The route of the event can be changed:
- Start in Saudi Arabia, West of Bahrain and have the first leg
from KSA to BAH. Host no inport race in BAH and the next day
continue to QAT.
- Host an inport lay day in Dubai. This must happen, whether an
extra day is added on to the entire event or whether another
inport race day is cancelled
- Inport racing in Dubai needs to involve the IRC fleet that is
racing there at the moment as a separate class in a 1 day
regatta.
- Inport racing in Muscat needs to also happen, The Wave is an
amazing facility and should not be wasted.
- Boat's should be made available where the team's choose to
start their training. In SATT '15 Messe Frankfurt will choose
to start in Dubai for 2 days training and then do a training
sail to the start of the race (KSA, BAH or QAT)

SH: I could not agree more. Major disproportions in media
coverage, i understand that EFG are title sponsors and have paid
for the privilege but every sponsor demands a return. This must
be addressed - It was also a shame that film crews could not go
offshore with the committee boat.
SH: I agree with a route change - the inclusion of Saudi would
be of great interest and probably bring another team. Perhaps
even Kuwait...
SH: Import racing is hugely important in Dubai and I echo
Marcel's comments on the Wave and integration with the IRC fleet
in Dubai.
