So the attempt to lie didn't work, and the man had known that
Usegi was the one that saved his life. This was bad. Ling was
going to kill him for being careless. He could almost hear her
scolding him the moment he'd enter the magic shop. He was not
looking forward to that later on. In the meantime, Usegi had to
deal with being stuck in an empty office with his teacher. Not
only that, the man had complimented as well as thanked him for
saving his life. The blonde wasn't expecting this at all
considering the man was always so strict with everyone he spoke
too. The look on his face showed just how surprised he was by
this as he turned to face the man while pointing at him. "Are
... are you being nice to me?" he asked.

Sousuke smiles slightly at Usegi "Well to be fair it isn't
currently school time, and is it wrong to be nice towards those
you owe your life to some extent to, I am not strict with
students without reason it is to help you and the others better
yourselves," he says being quite frank with the matter though he
wasn't being as overt and oppressive as he normally would be.
Sousuke could see the situation they where in was precarious and
didn't want to add problems to compound on things. "That power
of yours seems unreliable currently I was not expecting you to
fall unconscious from using it, forgive me for the rude
awakening letting you rest on the desk caused," Sousuke says
while removing the rag like suit jacket.
"Though I am impressed, whoever has been helping you study seems
to have found the right spot to approach it from," Sousuke says
while fishing out a test paper that was clearly the boys and
while the grade was still low it was passing.

Usegi pouted and gave a look displeasure as Sousuke commented on
how unreliable his powers were. Not to mention, he also pulled
out one of Usegi's tests which he didn't want to think about at
a time like this. Not the best time for schoolwork. 'Nice he
says. Still feels like he's picking on me despite what he says,'
Usegi thought with a sigh, lowering his head. "Yeah, I know, my
powers aren't great. I haven't had them long. I'm still being
trained to learn how to use them properly. So ... yeah..." He
decided not to comment on the test score. It was still a low
score for which his brother stated that he could've done better.
For now, he put it out of his mind as he sat back down, sighing
again. "So now you know why I've been sleeping even more during
your class," he tossed out there.

Sousuke smiles "Its quite alright, if you put in the work I'm
sure you will gain the fruits of your labor, as for class as
long as you pass it will be fine, not everyone is meant for
academics as your teacher my only goal is to make sure you get
somewhere in your life other than dead in a ditch," he says
clearly understanding what Usegi meant but expected him to do
even better in the future. Though it was clear Sousuke didn't
hate Usegi he was hard on him because he wanted him to have a
bright future. Leaning back with his eyes close the normally
prim and proper Sousuke looking like a tired old man. "To be
fully blunt you sleeping in class isn't the problem, I do work
with students who need additional help or have extenuating
circumstances, provided we survive this I can make more
reasonable arrangements," he says while opening his eyes and
looking directly at Usegi.

"It's really hard picturing you wanting to help me, and it's a
little creepy that you're so nice all of a sudden," Usegi
replied with a sweatdrop. He was probably a tad too honest when
he said this but he wasn't used to it. It was very odd seeing
the man smile and have a far more gentle tone in his voice. He
did seem to care about both of their safety, not just his own.
It was strange. Usegi wasn't sure how to take this situation
other than feeling awkward that his least favorite teacher was
being friendly and offering to help him. "I can't fight right
now. Gomen," he apologized. He was still tired from using that
last attack. It was going to take some time for him to recharge
his strength. Until that time, he was pretty much a sitting
duck.

Sousuke shakes his head and sighs softly "Crucify me for being
strict, crucify me for being nice," he says with a low voice
before slowly getting to his feet. Looking at Usegi for a moment
and shakes his head again before speaking "Well, we may be stuck
here until help arrives or you get back to your peak, but if
the worst should happen I can probably buy you time enough to
escape, you should be much faster than me even like you are
now." Sousuke looks at the ceiling for a moment, he had
mentioned the chance of Usegi escaping but rather bluntly left
out his own survival. Instead of talking fishing around in his
pocket he takes out a small case of cigarettes and a lighter,
leaning back into the desks leg while lighting up and taking a
long drag.
Sousuke seeing as the conversation had managed to get quite
awkward, due to his general air of being in a foul mood and his
quite bad social skills outside teaching. Letting out a breath
of smoke and a few coughs the cigarette was left to mostly burn
away on it own with only a few drags taken from it."Smoking
cigarettes I confiscated, I'm the worst but fuck it," he thinks
to himself, while passing the pack and lighter off to Usegi
having lost most interest in the cigarettes.

Admittedly, Usegi knew that he was rather unfair towards Sousuke
due to not being used to him being kind and helpful toward
anyone he came into contact with. If this was how he truly was,
then it was something he would have to learn to get used to. No
matter how strange it was to him. He did protect him in return
for doing the same for him, though now they were both stuck
hiding from the youma. He may not have asked for the
responsibility of being a Knight, but while he had the powers,
he was going to use them to do some good even if it was to prove
to himself that he could do something right for once in his
life.
Kind of like how Sousuke was showing a side of himself that he
didn't show around others. Including smoking which Usegi knew
that the man didn't tolerate students doing on campus. Given the
circumstances, he couldn't blame him for breaking the rules
himself, no matter how out of character it was for him. He
placed his hand in his lap, looking up as his teacher tossed
away the cigarettes and lighter. He didn't seem to be used to
smoking or never have smoked before as he'd coughed from taking
a long drag out of the cigarette he'd lit earlier. He didn't
know why but he'd begun to feel bad suddenly for always causing
the man so much trouble.
Even now, he felt like he was more of a nuisance than he was
helpful. So he decided at that moment that he wouldn't cause any
more stress to his teacher. It may not last forever, but it was
the least he could do for a while. "I'm not going to leave you
behind just to save myself, Sensei," he replied.

Sousuke looks over at Usegi "Honestly I don't know what to say
to that," he says while looking at Usegi giving a halfhearted
smile. Stretching his legs out while sitting on the floor
looking to the ceiling relaxing the best he really could given
the circumstances. Though he might not wish it nor was he likely
to say anything but he was enjoying Usegi's company to some
extent. While still overly serious his usual foul mood didn't
seem quite as bad when not dwelling on the situation they where
in. Sousuke found Usegi pleasant on the eyes at the very least
even if the conversation was awkward and a bit stiff due to his
own poor social skills.

For once, Usegi would like for someone to say they were proud of
him for something instead of always focusing on his bad habits
all the time. This superhero thing he was doing wasn't easy. But
he was putting his time and attention into training hard to
learn his powers and protect others. He stopped expecting it
when things such as this became serious. This was because he
didn't want to see innocent people hurt, especially his friends
and family who might not understand. Even though he wasn't with
one of his favorite teachers in the world, at least it wasn't
unbearable to be around him right now.
It was kind of nice to see him smile since he never did so.
Usegi also hoped that he believed him when he told him that he
wouldn't leave him behind. He wasn't going to. It wasn't right.
He may not be great at using his powers just yet, but despite
his lack of experience, he was going to fight regardless of it.
The boy was scared; he wasn't going to lie about that, and his
teacher probably was too. He had to keep his optimism up and
believe they were going to get out of here without getting
killed. He just wished there was a faster way to recharge his
powers, but he hadn't gotten that far in his training with Ling
yet.
They were currently two awkward sitting ducks for now. However,
there was something about Sousuke. Since they were alone, Usegi
figured if it was the best time to ask. "Sensei, can I ask you
something?"

Sousuke calmly looks at Usegi "You can ask me anything that is
on your mind, I will do my best to answer within reason," he
says a bit surprised at the sudden notion of Usegi wanting to
ask him things. While most might not take the notion of wanting
to ask a question seriously and either agree offhandedly or
object without any reason, Sousuke was all ears as bad as his
social skills where, listening to others was something he
excelled at and was part of the reason behind his success.
With a slight groan Sousuke stretches slightly, his complexion
hadn't recovered any and while Sousuke was hard to read in
general it was clear that the current Sousuke was putting on a
brave face though his tone and face didn't seem to show it.
While the notion of romance or love would normally be lost on
Sousuke, something had stirred in his normally closed off heart
towards the boy.
