Raven Nightwing
By: Raven Nightwing Date: August 29, 2018, 8:26 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
NAME:
Raven Nightwing
DATE OF BIRTH:
January 13th, 1377
AGE:
643 (real age), 18 (in appearance), 13-14 (younger appearance)
GENDER:
Male
SEXUAL ORIENTATION:
Bisexual
SPECIES:
Raven Yokai
OCCUPATION:
Raven does odd jobs around the city to earn money which he uses
to rent a room at the Hinata Sou Inn, in the boys' dorm. He also
disguises himself using his younger appearance to attend school
at Ashford Private Boys Academy.
HOBBIES:
- Reading
- Cooking & Cleaning
- Observing things around him
- Serving Others (In or Out of Contract)
- Cats (pets them instead of collecting them)
PERSONALITY:
Along with his demonic abilities, Raven is very skilled at
performing nearly any task he does or is ordered to do by those
he’s is bound to by contract or those he willingly wishes to
serve that aren’t bound by the contract. He’s a devoted and
dedicated servant, always following every order faithfully and
making sure that the household in which he works in, things run
smoothly. Raven cooks and cleans while at the same time
observing the things around him, mainly people to have a better
understanding of them. He has shown concern for many of his
former masters, despite being a demon, never doing anything for
his own amusement. He enjoys listening to music, something soft
and relaxing. Occasionally, he indulges in a little light
reading, practically anything. Raven also likes cats but prefers
to pet them but not collect them since he never stays in one
place for too long. He’s very kind and generous to anyone he
comes into contact with, which kind of contradicts the whole
demons hating Shinigami but they can sometimes be tolerable
beings.
He is also a straightforward and honest demon when anyone asks
him questions that he doesn't mind answering. He's never told a
lie in his life and the only time he will is if he's trying to
protect someone he cares about from harm. Using such weapons
like guns along with other weapons that seem more military-like
are not considered being something that Raven would use in
battle, ever. While he knows how to use them, he just prefers
not to. He has had many masters over the years and only became
attached to two of them, one being a young lad that although
he’d made a contract with, he deeply regretted doing so because
he’d grown feelings for him and the same with a young lady who
wanted on those she felt that did not love her. At the very
least, he understands humans along with their emotions and
ambitions that drive them to do what they do but there is still
a lot he does not understand as every human is different.
It is rare that Raven shows when he is angry but it is quite
noticeable when he becomes jealous as a dark red demonic aura
can be seen in his shadow, but he only feels this way when he’s
become attached to someone that he wishes to protect. Another
thing is, Raven’s not a charmer, not like most demons who can
easily sway and tempt humans, using it to their advantage to
collect information, while he does not. He’s also able to eat
human food, but it is not something that he craves and anything
he eats is tasteless to him anyway. Strangely enough, any sort
of carbonated beverage somehow gets him drunk if he drinks a lot
of it and actual liquor gives him heartburn. He also dislikes
the younger appearance that he's able to invoke with the use of
his powers for reasons based upon girls oddly fawning over him
or the fact that there are creeps out there that like little
boys. As such, he prefers the older appearance that makes him
appear eighteen despite him being hundreds of years old.
Something he knows that humans will not understand.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Faustian Contract – Raven is one of many mid-level demons that
are able to make contracts with humans who summon him as well as
grant them of his full services with the price at the end of the
deal of having their soul devoured by him as payment. But unlike
most high-level demons, he is not so quick to enter a contract
with a human to take their soul and will still attach himself to
a human that he grows fond of. Though this is rare since when he
is summoned, many humans do not wish to continue living once
their objective is completed. When he does make a contract, as
proof of it, he bears the symbol on the back of his right and
that he keeps hidden by wearing white gloves.
Enhanced Speed – Being a demon, Raven’s demonstrated the ability
to outrun vehicles as well as run to certain places within an
hour or less that normally takes days to get to by car, bus, or
subway. If there are places that require a plane to be taken, he
will travel by such means despite being able to run across the
water but does not do so.
Enhanced Endurance – Whenever fighting, he’s able to sustain
massive injuries and will continue to fight despite being
severely injured. In short, he’s able to survive attacks that
would kill humans. Examples of this would be getting shot in the
head & chest multiple times or being stabbed. This goes without
saying, he is not invincible and can be killed but it is very
difficult to kill a demon without the proper weaponry.
Enhanced Sense of Smell – Like all demons, Raven has an
incredible sense of smell. He is able to find humans based on
smell, that includes those he’s never met, allowing him to be
able to deduce if they’re dead, alive or injured. He’s also able
to tell if someone is human or a member of another species.
Different species have different scents that they give off which
can either be considered foul or pleasant.
Transformation – Raven has the ability to switch between his
human form and his true demon form. Another form he has is that
of a black raven, making him, the species of bird in which his
namesake generates. He can also generate black raven-like wings
from his back while in his human appearance in order to use them
to fly but of course, he doesn't use them all that often,
preferring to walk to wherever he needs to go rather than
depending on his wings to do so. He can also alter his
appearance from appearing to be that of someone who is eighteen
years old to appear as a younger version of how he used to look
many years ago. An appearance that took him ages to outgrow.
This younger appearance, however, is what his body reverts to
when he is severely weakened should he not invoke the use of it
on his own to disguise himself.
Water Control – By revealing the sign of his contract, Raven is
able to submerge practically anything underwater. He’s able to
manipulate it to his will, summoning water spikes, or forming an
array of different weapons out of water. Though it is not an
ability that he uses quite often.
Daggers – Raven's main weapon of choice is daggers, which he
uses to disable, injure and/or kill his opponents. The blades on
the daggers are much wider and the tip is much sharper than that
of random silverware as it gives a much more effective kill.
APPEARANCE:
Raven is 5’7’’ with short black neck-length hair and dark green
eyes, something that is rare among demons. His face is small yet
smooth cheeks, and a pointed chin. His eyes are normally small,
considering he always wears a serious expression but there are
times he’s been known to show other emotions too. He basically
has the appearance of an eighteen-year-old despite being much
older than that. He weighs 130lbs, giving him a slim yet
feminine figure with some muscles but not a whole lot to where
they’re bulging and obvious. As for his attire, Raven’s normally
seen wearing black (sometimes dark blue) trousers, tailcoat,
vest, and a tie. Whenever he removes his white gloves, it is
revealed that his fingernails are painted black. Over the years,
he’s grown accustomed to wearing other clothes, at least clothes
to keep up with the time period’s style of clothing.

CHARACTER HISTORY:
Little is known about Raven’s back-story except what he chooses
to reveal to those he is bound to if they ask him. He may be a
high level demon but he is the youngest of many before him that
have been around since the dawn of time. The first contract that
he made was with a wealthy French young girl named Angelica
LaBuffet in 1515 that was orphaned at a young age due to her
parents being murdered, causing her to have to be raised in the
care of relatives. Due to her parents’ death, she inherited
their fortune that was left for her which was being squandered
by her caretakers. Instead of using the money to take care of
the child, they used it on themselves while emotionally and
physically abusing her as well as making her believe, her
parents’ deaths were her fault. Angelica became blinded by the
hatred she had for her family, causing her to unintentionally
summon Raven to fulfill her desire. Her family was exposed as
the money hungry thieves they were and the rest of what was left
of her fortune was placed in her care. It was then and there,
she vowed to find the one who killed her parents and make them
pay as well as suffer the same way she had. Raven only served
her for a small amount of time before Angelica discovered who
killed her parents and her soul was devoured.
Two of his contracts after that were in Paris, France but others
after that were in different places all over the world. Whenever
he was summoned, that’s where he appeared and had a habit of
sticking around for a little while longer. Most of his contracts
all involved obtaining revenge, causing him to in a sense become
bored and instead of offering the contract up front, he decided
to observe and study humans to have a better understanding of
them as he knew that not ALL of them sought out revenge whenever
they summoned a demon. In his own realm, whenever he returned,
he was mocked, being considered a foolish demon for taking what
they felt was pity on humans, believing that their souls should
be taken if they’re desperate enough to enter into a contract
with a demon. That is why they were created, to eat the souls of
humans. Even though Raven ate souls, seeing as it is what truly
fuels his appetite, he is considered the most patient of his
species, attempting to substitute human foods and beverages,
knowing they’re tasteless to him. In through by making
contracts, playing the dutiful butler to his master, he’s
learned what particular beverages he can and cannot drink.
Liquor being a prime example for it does the opposite to him
opposed to what it does to humans and other various species. It
gives him heartburn. It isn’t until years later when soda was
created that drinking too much of it causes him to become
intoxicated.
Raven’s not the most vicious demon anyone would come into
contact with, in fact, he’s more quiet and calm, even in battle.
Most of the time he appears to be serious but he can smile and
is very gentle towards others. It is rare when he shows anger
and that was only expressed with two of the contracts he made
with humans long after he’d left France. In 1888, he’d made his
way to England, summoned by a young lad named Edgar who was
thrilled to be in the presence of a real demon. This confused
him as most are either afraid as well as hesitant on in a sense,
selling their soul to the devil, but not Edgar. He was an young
aspiring scholar who was obsessed with the occult and wanted to
prove that such things like demons and other worldly beings
existed. He had no desire of revenge, only entering into a
contract because he wanted to know how it worked. Raven was
happy to oblige, believing that he would not be bored with his
new master. In fact, it was Edgar the one that’d given Raven his
name, before that having been given other names but did not like
them. He kept the name his new master gave him from that point
on, preferring to be called by it than any other name. He was a
very obedient servant of the lad, doing everything that he was
ordered to do as part of Edgar’s research. As his studies
progressed, he became friends with Raven, something that the
demon didn’t understand at first but once it’d been explained to
him, little by little, he understood the concept behind it.
And accepted it as well as Edgar as his first official friend
but eventually, Edgar had presented his discovery to others but
all they did was laugh at him, calling him insane as well as
thought he needed to be locked up. No matter how much he tried
to prove that demons existed, anything occult related was real,
no one believed him. This caused him to be shunned by many
people with only Raven at his side. Some people had even made
attempts on Edgar’s life, which immediately Raven stepped in and
protected him from those trying to harm him. He became attached
to his master but after awhile, he could not take all the
ridicule that he’d been receiving from others and asked of the
demon to take his soul, feeling that he had no reason to
continuing living in a world where he was hated. Raven did not
want to take Edgar’s soul but given that he’d pleaded with him
to do so, he did and at the same time, he’d regretted forming
the contract that he considered ruined a young man’s life. But
he can honestly admit that he was not bored whenever he was in
Edgar’s company. It was a nice change from making contracts with
those that solely had desires for revenge. After taking Edgar’s
soul, he wandered around England for a little while longer until
he crossed paths with a young lady named Lydia Bassett. For the
most part, the girl was human but she possessed gifts that
caused others to be afraid of her.
Raven had deduced that she was not only human but part demon
with the ability to control fire and electricity. Lydia was
unaware of this until he approached her one-day, asking her if
she knew what she truly was. She told him honestly that she did
not and never bothered to ask because no one seemed to be
willing to tell her the truth about her family and how she was
born with such gifts. Being a half-breed demon, she was of low
level power, meaning that she was unable to make Faustian
Contracts with humans, being more bound to her human heritage
than her demonic. Though she can enter into contracts with full
fledged demons but something like that has been unheard of.
Lydia eventually found out that she was not completely human,
understanding now why everyone was afraid of her. At the same
time, she became slightly afraid of Raven, finding out that he
was a demon, considering such things to be evil. She became
afraid, but only for a while until he assured her that she had a
choice to live and walk down the path of her own choosing. She
was given much more freedom to do more good than demons like him
could ever hope to do. He just took it upon himself to not
always enter into a contract anytime he was summoned or met
someone he felt would not bore him with tedious tasks. He
explained that they were very different from one another and
that her abilities would be used to help people. She was not
bound to Hell but there was an off chance that one of her
parents might’ve been.
Being told this, Lydia wanted to enter into a contract with him
but she would not tell him what her desire was. He was hesitant
about this, considering that she didn’t seem the type to seek
revenge on others. In a way, she reminded him of Edgar but hoped
that she would not end up meeting his fate. For the next two
years, he lived with Lydia, serving her as well as helping her
to help other people. She also taught him more about the world
of humans and how everyone had some goodness in their hearts.
She was studying to become a doctor, wanting to help everyone,
to save as many lives as she could. During the time they spent
together, she fell in love with Raven, as he did with her,
becoming protective of her. Unfortunately, her end had finally
come. Many of the townspeople, who still did not trust her or
her ‘witch like’ powers as they classified them as, tried to
force her to leave England. Lydia told them she would not leave
and that she had every right to live here just as much as they
did. She wanted to help the sick and rid people of their
suffering. She may not’ve been able to do much but she did what
she could with what she learned. They backed off but only
briefly until someone snuck into her place of work to kill both
her and Raven. They only wanted to kill Raven because of the
simple fact that they felt he was in love with pure evil,
hinting that no one knew that he was truly a demon. The attack
failed with Lydia protecting Raven from being attacked, taking a
dagger to the chest.
It was then with her last breath that she finally told Raven
what her true desire was. It was to die knowing that there was
at least someone out there that cared about her and accepted her
as she was. Since that was her true goal, he had no choice but
to devour her soul, she having died in his arms. Instead of
taking revenge upon the one who murdered her, he gave her a
proper burial and left England. After Lydia, Raven did not make
any more contracts with humans, even if he was summoned. He
refused to make them unless absolutely necessary. These days, he
wanders from place to place, making acquaintances with those he
comes into contact with. Due to the influences that Edgar and
Lydia had on him, he’s made some friends during his travels and
wishes to make more. His recent travels have led him to Tokyo,
Japan, where he has wandered for the longest time.
Eventually he decided to take on the guise of a student at
Ashford Private Boys Academy, altering his appearance to look
younger to look more fourteen to fifteen years old rather than
eighteen years old. He attends school to kill his boredom and it
allows him to befriend a lot of the students there. He works odd
jobs around the city so that he could afford a place to live and
thus he came across the Hinata Sou Inn that had a boys dorm
built and has rented a room there. He pretty much do what he
already does which is observing and learning new things about
the city of Japan So this is Raven's current life in a nutshell.
He has made many friends of his own since arriving in this
country but knows that eventually he will have to lesson his
involvement, depending upon the master he will end up serving.
For the time being, Raven is without a master and free to do
what he pleases with his time in Japan. He has taken a liking to
the country and all it has to offer.
