This book is dedicated to Azuth, Lord of Spells and the God of
Wizards. "Learn every new spell you discover and make a copy for
the temple library. Do not hoard your knowledge, and encourage
creativity in magic in all ways and at all times."

While I am an ardent disciple of Mystra, I send my prayers to
Azuth as well. He has taught me to teach others a vital lesson;
when knowledge is lost, the world is worse off.
When knowledge is not written down, it is more likely that it
will be lost. The practice of archiving information is a vital
one. Oral traditions will change over time, as details are
forgotten, lost in translation, or simply misunderstood. With
written texts, it is much easier to ensure the transference.
Follow this simple maxim, "if it is new to you, then it will be
new to your successor."
It is time consuming, and it is all too tempting to put it off.
I too have succumbed to that trap. I always say, 'I'll get
around to it,' and to no surprise at all, I don't get around to
it.
Do yourself and those you care about a favor. If it's important,
write it down.
