Lamorak Giraldus - The Night of The Abomination
By: SuspiciousActivity Date: June 21, 2019, 12:30 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I am reluctant to write this as it will result in controversy.
However, I must record the incredible sight I saw - if only for
posterity.
Helzbelt had taken Alskivar Faulrun’vulnuk captive behind our
gate. As the others had him bound and gagged, they debated what
to do with him. I was summoned to interrogate this unique
individual – more on Alskivar later.
Behind our gate, ten Helzian soldiers were seemingly prepared
for anything. Until that proved to be a false sense of security.
I had never taken the time to observe her as I spend most of my
time in Armageddon Tower. Eladramere’s High Marshall is a nigh
unstoppable foe in the War Zone. Marla approached, and a volley
of arrows and spells assailed her. She charged forward, ignoring
the onslaught from above. She hammered the gate with rage and
ferocity. I cannot recall who said it, however, I remember it
vividly.
“The abomination is at the gate!”
By then it was too late. The ‘abomination’ was upon us. The
barrier fell to splinters, and the ten of us were left with our
mouths agape, face to face with the High Marshal. The Foehammer,
The Lord of Battles, the god of war, Tempus, had taken the
field. He had chosen Marla Merner as his fleeting avatar.
Wizards can prepare for any situation…assuming they know what to
prepare for. In this case, I simply was not. The better part of
survival is knowing when to run. I sequestered Alskivar into the
Keep.
Call it cowardice, if you like. I do not care what you think
about me.
I was below ground, tending to the copper dragon – wood elf
hybrid. I tended to his needs as is customary in these isles. I
wished to establish a reciprocal relationship of treatment in
this great game of counting coup.
From what I was told later, Marla managed to subdue three of our
own before being forced to retreat. Ten of Helzbelt’s soldiers,
against the High Marshall of Eladramere – and we still did not
capture ‘the abomination.’
I hope she wears that moniker with pride. I know that I would.
