[Phase 1] Divine Shield
By: Genesis Date: June 18, 2019, 3:36 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Background
Divine Shield gives +1 AC/round per CHA modifier. For example, a
character with 30 CHA will receive +10 AC for 10 rounds.
The feat requires a character to have 2 feats and certain
ability scores:
[li]13+ Strength[/li]
[li]13+ Charisma[/li]
[li]Power Attack[/li]
[li]Turn Undead[/li]
What we are seeing is that certain classes are taking minimal
levels of Paladin or Blackguard and getting huge AC benefit for
very little investment. This goes against our general design
mantra that the full benefit of a given class should be a result
of investment in that class.
As such, I would like to change this feat to the following:
+1 AC per 3 levels (of Paladin, Blackguard, or Cleric) capped at
the CHA modifier.
Duration unchanged.
For example, a level 12 Paladin with 16 CHA would get:
- 12 / 3 = +4 from level. or;
- +3 from CHA modifier.
In this example, the Paladin would get +3 AC for 3 rounds.
A level 30 Paladin with 18 base CHA would still be able to
achieve the maximum benefit and duration of the spell.
Discussion welcome!

Just nerf it to +1 AC per 3 charisma honestly. That way sorcs
can still get some bonus AC if they want. but its not gona be 70
AC... more like 65. 65 is still high AC for a sorc but atleast
its not 70....
And paladins would still be able to get +3-4 AC with it since
they will most likely have +12 charisma and around 10-16 base...
thats 26 charisma wich should give around 3-4 AC wich is still a
good boost.

Sorcs would still be getting the full AC. I would say tie it to
Paladin level. But at the same time I’d like to see us introduce
buffs to other classes to make taking them more appealing.

Just to consider that paladin is easier to get CHA bonus because
of they aura of glory while Blackguard has to do it manual
either by gear or carefully plan CHA stats build

Alternatively, at least for the save feats you can move them for
both Blackguard and Paladin to level 5 feats. Level 5 is what
you get by completing the tutorial so it doesn’t hurt Paladins,
and also it doesn’t hurt BGs really since they’ll be going that
far up.

Cap the bonus by Paladin level.

If it should be nerfed I rather have it +1 ac per 1 cha mod but
Paladin = Max Amount of AC you can have. If someone takes 5-10
levels worth of paladin, it's still a huge commitment. on a
level 30 server.

For clarity, caster level is Paladin / Blackguard / Cleric
level. Caster level is the level of the casting class.
Also bear in mind we are wanting to give the maximum benefit to
pure class characters.

Oh, I know. I was just talking about AC. Also, tying the AC or
Saves to the level of the class, like Paladin seems like a good
solution. That or moving the save stuff to another level on the
classes involved. Just trying to give a sort of compromise
between multiclass builders and pure class builders.
