Gosh, you read my mind. I was thinking about this about an hour
ago.
I have a feeling it's something small that would cost like half
a penny in the store.

there is a chance they were selling the idea of something so
incredibly valuable but also testing the extents to which Rz
fans are willing to go for rare items. testing the waters. turns
out, No One Has That Much. folks have 1k and more, but not
millions.

So you think that it's just a concept and there really isn't
anything in the box?
Because I seem to recall a hint being given that stated whoever
owned the contents of the box had the potential to make their
money back and then some. That would lead me to believe it's
publishing rights.

I always thought it was the entire contents of their archives,
or the publishing rights. The fact is, no one who has $5M in
chump change isn't going to spend it on a mystery box, or if
they did, they would not be a fan of the Residents.
Did they ever sell more than the 2 UBS? (or was the one to MOMA
a gift?).
