"Captain?" Aang asked again, his voice polite and
respectful, but urgent. It was like having to get a drink or go
to the bathroom. The urge was becoming stronger by the second.

(Squak!)
Edmund shook his head, the song was striking a chord in him, as
if from a memory long past. "Someone figure out why it's
singing," he ordered, and he gave the youth permission to leave.

Aang felt immense relief, and hurried to
Duck's office, somehow instinctively knowing she would be there,
to find an awe-striking sight, but somehow was not surprised.

Belle turned in 9her chair. The song was like a siren's, she
decided. She walked calmly over to a big red button hanging on
the wall and pushed it. Immediately, barriers came down and the
song was barely able to be heard. Belle deducted that an
announcement would be best.
"Good day," she said. "I have lowered the barriers against an
unknown anomaly as it was impairing the judgement of the crew.

Suddenly Tifa jerked as if she'd been shot and fell to the
ground in mid-run, barely moving.
Han ran up and lifted her to her feet. "Tifa?" he whispered in
her hair as the announcement went off.
Tifa pulled away from Han as the announcement ended. "No, no!"
she shouted, "Give her back!"
"Tifa, please calm down."
"Right, yes, of course. I'm going to walk CALMLY to the
Communications Office and shoot someone." Tifa's eyes were
blazing.
Han gulped, "That's not what I meant..." he muttered, but Tifa
was already gone.
Han sighed. What else could he do, but follow and do his best to
keep everything calm?

Sherlock shook himself slightly as the noise
barriers came down. He hated it when his emotions exercised
power over him. He felt shaken, as though he was ill. He however
quickly straightened himself, his emotionless mask upon his
face.

Aang watched as Lieutenant Duck suddenly
began shaking when the barriers came down. Aang's head felt
clearer again. Her whole body shook, and then she collapsed to
the ground. He ran to her, finding she'd fainted. He immediately
hit his communications badge. "Medical emergency in Lieutenant
Duck's office. Send a medical team immediately!

Padme felt the entire ship go calm as the barriers were set.
"Captain...if I may."
She awaited his nod, then continued. "It seems as though this
creature has the power to awaken things in the people who hear
its cries. Whether these things are good or bad....I'm not sure.
But they are definitely strong emotions. I felt it all over the
ship, and it only quieted when the creature did..."

"It's obviously affected other people more than
others." Sherlock butted in, naturally.

Padme spared him an annoyed glance. "Yes, but it seems to have
at least some effect on the emotions of every person on the
ship. Including yours." She added nonchalantley.

Sherlock simply looked at her coolly. "I
believe the song was designed to call memories of one's past. It
seemed to pull out distant memories. However, the effect and
sort of memory would differ greatly for each person. I think we
need to find who it affected first, and we may be closer to
figuring this out." There was the slightest sharp edge to his
last few words. He really didn't understand why the empath was
so necessary. All she could do was sense emotions. Couldn't even
read minds. Then again, she'd always gotten a little on his
nerves. Maybe it was the fact that she could sense beyond his
facade of emotionlessness.
