Belle smiled politely at Zelda. "It's all right. I hope
everything worked out," she said, trying not to let on that
she'd spied.

Edmund was an observer. He couldn't help it, anymore than he
could help noticing the girl sitting alone at the next table and
feeling sorry for her. So he snuck up behind the mysterious
brunette, and waited for a lull in the conversation, for he was
still listening to his friends discuss the names that he'd come
up with. "Hello," he said, startling the girl. "I'm Edmund
Pevensie. Nice to meet you."

Fakir noticed his missing friend, but because no one else seemed
to make a deal out of it, he didn't bother to mention it. He
glanced around the table, and saw that all but one of their
group was relaxed. He leaned across and started talking to the
new girl. "What's wrong with you?" he asked. "This is lunch. Why
the heck are you so tense?" He kept his tone annoyed, mostly
because he was annoyed. There was no plausible reason for a
person to be this nervous at a lunch table.

Lucy hadn't missed the girl sitting close to them. Nor did she
miss it when Edmund left to say hi. She had every intention of
catching her before fifth, but if Ed beat her to the punch - so
be it. She didn't call attention to her missing brother, because
there simply was no need. Everyone had noticed, and everyone
cared, yet nobody did. So she let it be.

Duck squawked. It wasn't quite her duck call, but close. She
sighed when she didn't feel the tingling of magic running
through her.
She turned to the dark haired boy and looked him straight in his
deep emerald eyes. He couldn't know it was his fault for her
being so nervous. And she certinaly couldn't tell him why. So
instead she just said with an air of defiance, "I have alot on
my mind. And what business is it of yours anyways?"
The effect was ruined when her hair landed in her plate.

Fakir sighed. It was part of the code that Merida had written
when they first started to care about their fellow Knights, even
if they didn't want it. "Idiot," he replied, grabbing napkins
for her to use to attempt to clean her braid out. "It's because
it's what the Knights do. We worry. And wheather you like it or
not, it means we are obligated to worry about you too."

Duck was touched. He acutally cared. Maybe it was partly just
because he was a Knight, but she could tell he really did care.
It was like a glimmer of the Fakir she knew from the pond was
showing himself.
"I'm sorry," she told him earnsty. "Its not like he's only ever
been a mean jerk to me before. Or that if I am having problems
my friends make a giant seen out of it...."

(I literally just fell out of my chair fangirling/laughing.)
Fakir caught their shared look. Fine, if they just got thoughts,
he wouldn't be nice to anybody ever again. He pulled out his
notebook and began scribbling.

would be and hadn't actually seen it. One of the benefits of
being friends with the same person since elementary. "Best keep
your ridiculous fantasies to yourself."
