Crystal Shadows ~ Chapter 2: Of Secrets and Surprises

[glow=yellow2300] Synopsis of Chapter 1:
The Knights are a rag-tag group of friends that spread
throughout all the grades at Webster High. Merida is one of the
founders. She also has to deal with her sister Zelda who is
heading for college, and her younger triplet brothers. Suffice
it to say, it's hard to get a moment of quiet. One night, she is
watching her favorite show Merlin when she texts her friends
about the next meeting. It doesn't take long for Lucy and Edmund
Pevensie to respond to her call. Nor does it take long for their
friend Link to respond while he moons over his long love Zelda
while she prepares to start attending college.
The only member of their gang that doesn't get the message is
Fakir, who spends all of his time at the pond in his back yard
with a little duck he calls Ente. That night they read a story
he had written about a Demon King and a band of Brave Knights.
Though, he doesn't know that with the aid of a flower, she can
turn into a girl named Duck, a person that Fakir doesn't get
along with very well. The next day he gets caught by Merida and,
in a burst of irritability, offers his back yard for their next
meeting.
In the meantime, Link has driven out to Zelda's college, at her
behest, and they confessed to each other. The only person that
knows is one of Zelda's classmates, Belle, who watched from afar
as a small misunderstanding was patched up between the
two.[/glow]

Merida stared open mouthed at her friend. He had never, ever!,
let anyone near that pond. She had found out about by mear
accident and had been prometly sworn to secreacy. And not to
mention they always used Merida's house for training. No matter
what. She had a big open area perfect for the basic training,
and around all different kinds of terrain and foliage perfect
for testing different biomes. And if the weather was bad they
used her giant shed where they stored all the weapons and armor.
But she would not pass up a chance to see this pond, to fight at
it, to play and train at it. "Sure! But we'll obviously have to
stop by my house to grab the gear."

"Of course," Fakir responded, wondering why he had offered his
backyard up for training. At the very least, they would get
experience fighting by water. "I'll talk to you later," he said
as the bell rang.

"I mean," said Lucy when there was no response from her
brother, "I know why we're called The Knights of the Round
Table, and 'The Knights' is a great abbervation. But I feel
like, we should have our own name. That's unquiely ours. You
know? Like a subset of the Round Table."

Zelda was up before her alarm could even go off. She got ready
for her first day of college with excitement. Quickly she texted
Link wishing him a good day, she had already missed him so much
but she was a little distracted by her new school.
The entrance to her first class was filled with students trying
to cram into one door. She took the first seat available and saw
out of the corner of her eye the top of Groose's silly hair do.
Oh no.... Zelda covered her face and looked the other way hoping
that she would become "invisible" to him.

Link was already in the library finishing up his homework when
he got Zelda's text. He smiled to himself, then stopped. He had
completely forgotten to talk with Merida about why he wasn't at
practice! What was he going to do? Merida was sure to beat a
confession out of him...and the last thing he wanted was for her
to know that he ditched the group for a girl...he'd have to come
up with something fast...he already heard her voice approaching
the library doors.
Padme hurried to class. She had overslept...again. She snuck
into class just as the bell rang. Thank goodness... she thought
to herself, then looked around. She caught sight of a very
pretty young lady who had a head of flaming red hair. Padme's
eyes widened. How wild, and beautiful. The girl looked back and
the young transfer student averted her gaze. The last thing she
needed was to make any enemies at her new school. That is what
got her kicked out of her old school, after all.

Zelda turned back around very slightly to see where he ended up
sitting and didn't see him anymore! Maybe he was in the wrong
class....
"Zelda! What are the odds huh" Groose exclaimed sitting on the
opposite side of where she was looking. She faked a smile,
"yeah....how great..." he put his arm around her and she shoved
it right off "so who was the one guy that was all over you last
night? You don't have a boyfriend or anything like that..."
Zelda gave him a hard look, "he's my boyfr-" she stopped
herself.
We never really made it official but we told each other that we
loved each other so that should be enough right...or maybe it
was just the spur of the moment...I should refrain from getting
my hopes up.
But before she could defend herself from Groose's question and
comment class began to start. The duration of the class
consisted of Groose constantly playing a game of scooting closer
to Zelda and her pushing away. She sighed, there's always
something to screw things up she thought in a sarcastic tone.

Link snuck into the bathroom after he finished eating lunch.
There was still some time left of the lunch period, and he
wanted to talk with Zelda again. He got his phone out and
started texting.
Hey sweetie! You know, I realized that I never did what I meant
to do when I went to your house yesterday. I was meaning to ask
you out, if your feelings were the same. I guess in all the
commotion with your mom and Groose and everything I just
forgot...I'm sorry. Would you like me to ask in person, or will
the flowers I sent to your dorm room compensate for this
last-minute text? ;)

Lucy huffed, her brother wasn't paying any attention at all!
"I'll ask Merida! She'll understand," Lucy told her self in her
head.
The rest of the day past quickly and before she knew she was
standing at the front door waiting for the others. Merida
siddled up to her and said, "So change of plans, training will
be at Fakir's today. We'll have to stop by my place first,
obvioulsy. And, oh yeah!, Link's not coming," there was a
defiante tone of resentment in her voice at the last part.
"Oh alright, um Merida, I invited someone to come along. I just
need her help with a project!" Lucy explained quickly, she knew
Merida was fericely protetive of who joined the sessions. Just
then Lucy spotted her red-haired friend busting out the doors,
"Duck."
"Hi. Sorry Lucy," puffed Duck. And before Lucy could say, 'no
problem!' Duck rattled, "Tomoyo called, seventh period!
Something came up. She is so sorry, but if you could do
tommorow..." Duck's eyes were pleading.
"Sure, that will work just fine," Lucy reassured her. "Give me
more time to think anyways...." "If you could still come with
me?"
"Of course!" Duck replied, happy to help.
Just then Fakir siddled up to the group.
(guys...because of when and how often people have been replying
to this - our days are a litte off, if we could work to fix that
it would help tremandously)

(d'awwww we're all such love saps hahaxD it is quite great:P)
Zelda's phone buzzed in the middle of class, she didn't want to
get caught on her cell in the middle of her first day of class
though...she would have to wait it out.
All the books closed and the students rose from their seats as
Zelda made a mad dash for the door. Groose of course beat her to
the door, "listen Zelda I just want to clarify that I don't want
to come between anything you may have with that kid yesterday"
she was shocked were these words ACTUALLY coming out of Groose's
mouth??? He continued "do you mind if I walk you to your dorm,"
she shook her head no and they began to walk together at a
steady pace.
"I've always admired you," Zelda's shoulders fell here he goes
again... "there was always something about you that was flawless
and magnifying. I guess I just never had a good way of
approaching girls back then huh?" she now was washed by some
pity. She had NEVER wanted to bring down his spirits....he was
just CONSTANTLY on her about dating and she always felt
sufficated. She tried to lift his spirits a bit, "you weren't
horrible Groose, you were actually very sweet...until you asked
me out every hour on the hour" she joked. Groose laughed while
looking down at the floor, "yeah that was a bit much wasn't it?
But we we're only in Middle School! I just want to start
over..." she smiled at how civil he was being, "sounds good to
me!" They reached her dorm room. He looked at her with hopefull
eyes, "see you around?" She nodded, "sure thing Groose!" Zelda
put her hand on the door knob and began to open the door with
her back when Groose leaned in to kiss her on the cheek. As he
got close to her face she backed up by opening the door and
walking into her room, "goodbye Groose." He walked away knowing
that he didn't really give himself a good start. Zelda had known
that passion wasn't going to be a part of that kiss he was
trying to give, it was a friendship kiss but she knew that if
she had let it happen it would upset her to the point of being
sick.
She closed her dorm door and pulled out her phone to see Link's
sweet text, flowers? she looked up and saw the full bouqet of
roses sitting on her desk! She was overjoyed and pratically hit
tears of happiness. She replied as fast as she could.
It's alright baby! The flowers are beautiful thank you so
much!♥
I don't want you to waste gas on coming all the way out here. We
will just have to wait it out for a weekend or a vacation time I
guess....
I miss you! Be safe at practice and tell my little siblings to
behave please haha :P

(I know.... :P well, at least we have people to share it with!)
(And Tally- wait, what do you mean? This is day three, right?
Started out that night with Merida and the show, then the next
day Link and Zelda had their time and the day went by with Link
not at practice, now day three, Link at practice and Duck too at
Fakir's house? And, of course, Padme joining the school and
finding interest in the group.)
