Shifting Chapter 1: Schola de aeterni

(Note: Schola de aeterni literally means School of Forever, but
just calling it Forever School, works the same way.)
The young woman slung her violin over her shoulder and eyed the
structure before her warily. It used to be an Irish castle,
before the Aeterni Foundation had it shipped over to a rural
part of the United States. Otherwise known as North Dakota, but
to Belle, it was her prision for the next four years.

Padme sat in her dorm, harp in her lap, strumming away at "Danny
Boy". She wondered when her new roommate would arrive.

It didn't take Belle long to find her room, seeing as there were
only a couple hundred, and only a slightly larger number of
students. On the other side, she heard a harp being played. She
sighed and opened the door. Sitting on one of the two beds was a
girl with brown hair and a kind face. Belle held in her
darkening emotions and managed a smile as her new room mate
turned around.

Padme smiled warmly at the new girl. "Hello, my name is Padme.
It's nice to meet you. What is your name?"

Duck was lost. "This always happened to me!" the girl wailed.
And then she tripped, crashing to the ground her long red braid
flying.

Before Padme could respond, there was a loud crash, and the two
girls turned immediately to the door. "What was that?" Padme
asked. Belle shrugged her shoulders, and the two girls rushed
out to the hall to see what the fuss was about.

The little bird-girl looked up to see two beautiful brunettes
looking worridly down at her. "Heh-heh" the sound just exscaped
from her mouth. Then Duck smiled big at the two and bounced up,
brushing her self off. She was used to tripping, after all.
"Hi!" her chipper voice rang out.

Padme realized that the girl only cried out from surprise, not
pain, and smiled back at her. "Hello," she replied to the little
red-haired girl, "are you new here? What is your name?"
