Sherlock followed, wondering how long it
would be necessary to keep up his act, "Sorry," he said
politely, a bright, warm smile lighting his face, "I don't think
I caught your name." John simply sighed and shook his head,
following the dark, curly-haired figure with his black
trench-coat billowing slightly with the wind created by his own
movements.

"Well," Aang inquired happily, gesturing around his
astounding garden, "Do you like it?"
The two just gaped, and the fairy, Tinkerbell,
zipped off to look at the different plants, and Zelda stared in
wonder. Aang looked around at his artistic botany art piece,
something he'd worked on the past few years while he was alone
with only Mo-mo and Appa for company. He smiled as, at the
thought, the flying lemur appearing, gliding down from one of
the near-by trees, chirping, happily eating a fruit Aang had
been growing.
Aang examined the vines, pieces of florishing
beautiful flowers around, shady trees, many filled with fruit,
and his neat vegetable garden in the middle, filled with all
kinds of different edible plants, a small, cheerfully bubbling
stream he had canal-ed into where his home belonged, among the
neat dirt pathways he'd made and forest stones he had placed
between the grass, flowers, and different bushes, some
ornamental, and some bearing different berries, the birds
singing in the trees of this haven in the middle of the forest,
everything flourishing with life, butterflies, bees and
different beetles humming about in the warmth of the high
season.
Aang looked anxiously toward Zelda for her
response, strangely worried about how she'd respond to the
garden he'd poured so much of his time into, with no one else
around to talk to besides his animal friends and plenty of spare
time.

Tinkerbell chimed with delight. A neverberry tree! She hadn't
seen one of these since...well, Neverland! She happily bit into
the ripe fruit, then brought a couple back to Zelda to try.
"Padme", the brunette responded.
The three arrived at her home in no time. She opened the door
and checked in on the red-haired girl. "How are you doing,
dear?" she asked kindly. When she saw that the girl was asleep,
she turned to the dark-haired boy that had accompanied them.
"Did she eat anything?"

Zelda was floored. The vines seemed to be as tall as skyscrapers
with flowers on them in full bloom. You could hear water running
and birds singing. She put her hand on Aang's shoulder, "this
place is amazing Aang!!"

Aang's back tingled slightly at Zelda's sudden
touch on his shoulder and blushed slightly. "Thanks," he said
nervously. "I guess you could say I've poured my life into it. I
need it, too. Wouldn't get far without my garden. Had to survive
on wild berries at first." he grimaced slightly. Zelda laughed,
and looked at him in a confused way. She started to speak, but
Aang figured out what she was going to say. "I'm a vegetarian.
Have been all of my life. It's... what the monks taught me," his
voice softened, but then he said slightly louder and more
relaxed, "to value all life. So, I haven't managed to get any
goats or anything for milk and cheese yet, so I have bread and
vegetables mostly. And some chicken eggs. Ones that aren't going
to turn into chicks, obvioiusly." He felt he was rambling and
quickly shut his mouth.

Zelda loved that Aang knew exactly what she was thinking. It was
almost like an instant connection. She smiled at him "it's a
lovely way to live" as she walked on in front of him looking up
in wonderment.

Aang's grey eyes lit up. "Thanks," he said
warmly. Every minute more he spent around Zelda, he knew she
would be a great friend. He hesitated, "It's been pretty lonely
the last several years, though... Mo-mo and Appa kept me
company, but..."

Zelda felt sad for what Aang was saying. After he trailed off
for a second she turned from the garden back around to him, "but
what?"

Aang looked down, bitting his lip, trying not
to let the loneliness of the last five... or six? years engulf
him now. "It's just..." he breathed. "I've barely seen or talked
to anyone in years. I've done a little trading and stuff to get
seeds and some chickens and stuff.... but I haven't really had
any friends besides some of my animals." he shrugged. "They were
really the only 'people' I talked to... so..." he trailed off
again. He hoped that she wasn't too worried, or bored, or
estranged by his story of solitude and tragedy.

Zelda could see Aang's head start to sink down. She lifted it
softly with one hand "you're not alone anymore." She turned to
Tink who was having a grand time flying around the garden "Right
Tink?" She nodded yes enthusiastically seemed like she could
stay there forever.

Aang laughed, and he smiled, but it didn't
reach his eyes, which were still sad. Bittersweet feelings
overwhelmed him and he bit his lip, and did his best to breath
evenly, he quickly changed the subject. He really didn't need to
tear up in front of Zelda... "Hey, we were gonna get some
vegetables for a soup, right?" he said, filling his voice with
cheer. "Come on then!"
