Sherlock grimaced as a freshman girl
getting off the bus spotted them and ran up cheerily. It meant
she either wanted to taunt them, talk to them or befriend them,
and none of those options sounded very pleasing to Sherlock. He
moved to the other side of John. Sherlock recognized her as one
of the girls who'd been at the Knight club. With most of them,
he'd like to keep contact with them strictly at the meetings, as
long as he could help it.

"Hermione!" Aang panted exasperatedly as he
caught up with her, walking swiftly along the sidewalk,
pretending like he didn't exist. "What's wrong now? I thought we
could hang out later! And I though you wanted to do the Knight
thing with me." he half pleaded. She was one of his only friends
at school, and he didn't want to get on the bad side of her. He
knew she could be nasty. He preferred her to be his friend.

Hermione sniffed slightly, and rubbed the tears out
of her eyes, hoping her face wasn't too blotchy and red, before
facing Aang, careful to have enough of her bushy brown hair in
front of her face so that hopefully he wouldn't notice. She
didn't want him to know how much she cared about him. She didn't
know if it would ruin their friendship or if Aang would be
uncomfortable. "Sure," she tried to be cheery. "What do we want
to do?"
Aang smiled, relieved, "I was thinking that Mo-mo
and Crookshanks might want to meet." he shrugged.

Duck was just about to the shop when she the boys. She bounded
up to them, cheery as ever, "Hi!" she said brightly, '"Sherlock.
John! I was just on my way to work! If you have a second," she
said this as if she knew they did, "come with me! There's
snacks!" she told John, knowing he was the only one who would
care, and Sherlock would tag along anyway.

Sherlock was renewed with curiousity about
her. She just... wasn't quite right. Not... natural. She wasn't
perturbed and she someone could tell something about himself. He
hadn't missed the fact he realized he wouldn't want any snacks.
"Actually, I wouldn't mind something," Sherlock stated in an
off-hand way. He wasn't solving anything, or had any super
pressing experiments, and he realized he did need to eat
occasionally. He was even slightly annoyed to find he was in
fact hungry at the moment. John raised his eyebrows in surprise.
Sherlock had both engaged her in conversation, and had politely
said he wanted food. John shook his head in disbelief. He was
half-tempted to ask the dark-haired boy where was Sherlock and
what had he done with him.

Her eyes glinted at Sherlock as they closed in an adorable
smiley-squint.
"Well come on then!" she said, skipping backwards towards the
Cottage.

Sherlock raised his eyebrows and strode after
her, easily keeping up with his long legs. John sighed, and
hurried to keep up, walking swiftly along beside the tall dark
figure.

They were moving quickly so they were entering the shop in
almost no time. Duck led the two along the front of the store to
a set of tables and chairs next to the window display. They were
tall, with a rustic and timeless feel in ebony colored metal.
There was a stand next to the wall with cookies, cakes, coffee,
lemonade, crackers, cheese, and fruit. Duck grabbed a few for
herself, "I'll be back in just a few minutes. Feel free to
wonder."
She skipped off to check in with Aurora, hoping she hadn't
invited disaster. "If Sherlock finds those hidden doors...I'll
be in so much trouble"

Sherlock munched on a few crackers, a little
cake and sipped a coffee, as his eyes scanned every inch of the
little shop. He narrowed his eyes, "That's interesting," he
muttered.
"Hmmm?" John mumbled through a mouthful of
cookies.
"Well..." Sherlock said slowly, setting his
mug down. "There isn't a cleaning closet, store room, or even a
design room for the clothes," Sherlock gestured, "Which were
obviously hand made, most likely here." He raised an eyebrow,
scouring every inch. "There has to be something here!" he
muttered. "And when we came in... we didn't see a separate store
house or anything." Sherlock got up, abandoning his plate of
cheese and crackers and piece of half-eaten cake.
"So?" asked John, annoyed after swallowing his
cookies.
"So..." a small, excited smirk lit Sherlock's
face. John hated it... but also loved it when that look crossed
Sherlock's face. It meant Sherlock was about to be up to no
good... but it also meant that exciting or interesting things
were about to ensue.

Fakir slammed his notebook shut. He couldn't concentrate. He had
to think of a test for the newbies, but he was too worried. He
hadnt seen Ahiru in a few days. Was she stuck? Was she eaten?
Has she been eating well? Thoughts like these consumed him all
throughout the school day and he was sure his grades would
suffer for it.
He shook his head. A battle of wits wouldn't work... That jerk
Sherlock would be able to use his overly high intelligence to
make a correct statement, but something physical right off the
bat would probably be too much for the weaklings. Then it
occured to him. "A scenario..."
Now if only Ahiru would appear, then he could sleep well
tonight.

Sherlock first went outside. John reluctantly left
the snacks behind, seeing a sign that said you couldn't take
them out of the store. Sherlock carefully maneuvered around the
building, (which meant the whole block, and down the back alley)
measuring in his mind's eye the approximate outside dimensions,
and then went back in. He smiled, satisfied. "The dimensions are
just right in front, so it's not smaller in the front. That's
too noticable." he said, delighting in this small mystery. "But,
in the back, it is too long, and the ceiling is just a touch too
high."
John frowned, "And that means...?" he was
used to Sherlock finishing his questions without him needing to
ask the whole thing.
"It means that there are hidden doorways in
the shop." Sherlock's smile became a full beam.
