Locked Inside Forever Chapter 1: Introduction to Evil

Padme tried her best to stop the tears from raining down her
face. She looked around her, seeing only stone walls and iron
bars. How had she gotten into this mess in the first place? Why
would no one believe that she was innocent? She only happened
upon the man- she had no idea who killed him. Yet the guards
will see only what they want to see, as will the public. How
would they persecute her? Would they give her a trial even? She
looked around desperately for a way out. If only she could climb
to the window....but even then, she doubted she'd even come
close to fitting through it. A dark figure sat in the opposite
corner, unmoving and unspeaking. She let out a whimper. The dark
figure turned her way, still shrouded in shadows, and began to
speak.

Edmund didn't know who the new girl was, and he didn't
particularly care. Still, he didn't like the thought of her
hopping all over the cell trying to get out. "I don't suggest
that," he grumbled. "There's only one way out, the door."

Her tears dried a bit after realizing that her cell mate wasn't
as scary as he first seemed. "I'm sorry," she replied softly. "I
just don't like feeling caged up..."

Padme opened her eyes wide. She was surprised that the young man
was offering friendship. She slowly spoke. "I'm Padme. What are
you in here for?"

"I was caught stealing," he replied emotionlessly. "Can't say
I'm surprised. I was a rather good theif. So good, in fact, that
I was hired to steal things of value on a regular basis. Figures
that I got caught filching a new jacket though. What about you?"

"Really," Edmund said, his eyes growing big. "I never would have
pegged you for murderer, and doing nothing wrong, I suppose my
hunch was correct. So I'm guessing that the real murderer is
still at large?"

"I'm not sure," Padme replied, "He could possibly be hiding
out...if he struck again now, they would know it wasn't really
me, and I'd be free...I think he is waiting until I..." she
couldn't finish the sentence, knowing full well what the
punishment for murder was. Then, all of a sudden, she heard a
soft voice, whispering the name of the boy she just met.
Tinkerbell followed close to Lucy, hiding her glow as much as
she possibly could. It was dark, dank, and cold here, and she
didn't like it. But, Lucy knew what she was doing, and Tink owed
her life to the girl, so she tagged along to offer what
protection she could.
