Spiral knights : Butter knife - Chapter 2

They proceeded forward deeper into the palace, there was
a bigger lobby waiting for them, and another gate waiting to be
unlocked.
Echo and Connor stayed next to the wall and slowly walked in,
Echo turned right while Connor turned left. “Clear.” Echo
cleared his throat
and spoke louder. “Ah, this is more like a lobby, a reception.”
Connor seemed to be talking to himself instead of Echo.
The room was in shape of rectangle, having two separate
gates at each end, and a bigger, well-set up gate. “It seems
like this middle
gate is our way to go.” Connor told Echo as he was looking at
the three stone blocks, some bombs and indestructible blocks in
front of the
gate. Echo reminded Connor to get prepared. Connor charged up
his shadowtech alchemer, the yellow bubble reached its maximum
size
before Echo gets to hit the first stone block. There was nothing
inside the first block, but a button lying on the ground inside
the second
block. “Looks like its time for my graviton vortex to shine.”
Fighting in the clockworks can be quite dangerous. But Echo
still seemed to be
pleased to have a chance to try out his new weapon. Holding the
bomb above Echo’s own head, the vortex started collecting energy
scattered amongst the environment. When it was ready, Echo
placed it right in front of the gate. Echo rushed, and stepped
on the button
right afterwards. A group of 5 jellies spawned right on top of
the vortex. The jellies showed hostility and tried to get to
Echo, but they made
once step forward and got sucked back at the edge of the vortex
radius. “Bingo!” The jellies stood no chance against the
alchemer charge
attack. They just exploded and splashed everywhere. “That was
rather… violence?” Echo wasn’t sure, but he definitely agrees
that both
weapons they just used are straight up awesome, brutal and
impressive.
Echo and Connor were deeply impressed, and can’t wait to
try it more on the spiky jelly jellies. They entered a room
filled with grass
blocks and stone blocks leaving only 3 blocks wide passage way
around the square room. They chopped their way into the heart.
They once
again get prepared before hitting the switch in the middle of
the room. The second Echo touched the switch, four turrets, 2
lumbers (giant
robots basically) and lots and lots and lots of jellies spawned.
Echo felt badness crawling around him. The hunter instinct just
shouted out
loud “cheese it!” but with nowhere to run. The shot Connor made
only killed one jelly as they were too far apart from each
other.
“Clockwise go go go!” A jelly was blocking Echo’s path, so Echo
held his shield and pushed away that slime, now that the path is
“cleared”.
He turned right trying to take the closest route out of the
room. But what he saw is a giant tree and a turret. Echo turned
too quick and
almost fell on the ground shouting “Clockwise is a no go, go the
other way!” But the left path is not much better. Connor saw a
turret facing
the other way, he instantly shot a few gigawatt pulsar bullets
at it, trying to put the status “shock” on it which interrupts
its attack, and it
worked. Seeing the turret being shocked, Echo was given a few
seconds to kill the two slimes on his way. A standard
three-swipe attack
was enough to take out medium sized slimes, but one survived
because Echo was hitting a couple small slimes too. The slime
was about to
attack but got shield bashed and received its punishment for not
behaving itself. A shocked turret was easy to kill, but the
lumber and a few
jellies reinforcements are getting too close, Echo had to go and
catch up with Connor. Connor was able to destroy a turret and
secure the
path ahead since Echo’s retaliate bought him some time. “C’mon
we gotta get outta here before we get juggled into gel!” Connor
shouts
into the air to Echo and his “followers”. Echo is running with
every last of his stamina juice, he turned left twice and saw
Connor right in
front of him. Connor suddenly ducked down and a bullet flew out
directly into Echo, leaving a trail of terrified on Connor’s
face. The bullet
splashed onto Echo and exploded, took away some hit points. The
damage was not severe but strong enough to slow Echo down. The
machine behind the bullets is a turret. Spiral knights usually
call that the gun puppy. It is a statue-like turret having a
greenish tint around
his body. A rather rectangle prism head with two poky horns
coming from the other base end. It has two yellow eyes on each
side of the
head. It opens its mouth whenever it shoots. Connor hold up his
gigawatt pulsar and shot at the turret, the turret feels no pain
and made a
three-way shot at Connor, the safe window between each bullet is
small but that shall never trouble the gunslinger Connor. He
slides past
the bullets and to the turret’s back, this time around he used a
silversix for rapid elemental fire shots. The movements were
simple yet
effective. Connor safely took down the turret. “Lumb…” The
situation was too hot that Connor cannot even finish his
sentence. However the
sentence was a reminder more than a survive order. Echo is a
well tempered rogue, with his experience in the clockworks and
hunter
instincts, he was able to “feel” attacks launching towards him.
Connor saw Echo’s left arm pump. Echo performed a hyper-speed
turnover
block, using strength of his arm, waist and leg. Echo bashed his
shield at the side of lumber’s enormous left arm. Under the
interruption of
Echo’s parry, lumber’s attack was far away from it intended to
hit. Echo had another closer look into the lumber, a gigantic
light brown body,
and a crack going from the top right corner to bottom left
corner, two flashy green lights shining on Echo from the
mid-point of the crack.
Echo assumes those are its eyes. The left hand is just an
exaggerated tree trunk. There is also a gear as its waist,
constantly rotating.
Although Echo cannot see it right now, he knew that there is
also a gear at his back. The lumber looked closely down into
Echo, balancing
itself preparing for the second strike. Connor saw a yellow
bubble around Echo and his avenger. Knowing that after the
turnover Echo’s
nightblade was already sitting tight in its case. Echo
concentrated every kinetic energy at the very end of avenger,
performed a thrust
attack right into the lumber’s body, a glowing summoned sword
launched out via the lumber’s back, leaving a giant hole on it.
Small
explosions appear on the lumber’s body and finally it collapsed.
“That’s what I call an execution.” Connor commented. “But it is
time for us
to run.” Having a jelly horde in front of Echo, he cannot
disagree. Outside the room Echo and Connor have a bigger working
place, a big
enough working place. They just keep leading the jellies around
while charging their guns and bombs. Using the bomb to group
them up
and finish them off with the shadowtech alchemer. They
eliminated all hostiles for now. The gate at the end unlocked,
they walk back into
the room they were running around like a headless chicken,
grabbed the stone statue and never returned to the room. At the
main room
near the main gate there are two buttons. Echo placed the statue
firmly on it. It has no effect on the door because they are
missing one
statue, which is now sitting at the left room.
They catch their own breathes and swiftly moved towards
the second gate. The hidden button and slimes ambush was just
the same as before. Echo and Connor took care of that easily.
The second room is just a big room identical to the first room.
But with spike traps and
stone blocks. They made up a plan of Connor staying back while
Echo will go ahead and activate the ghost block. With the traps
around,
Echo won’t be able to move freely within the lair of jellies. He
would need the help of a gunslinger to secure his evacuation
passage. Echo
walks pass spike traps which regularly poke out. He made two
turns and reached the ghost block. Echo makes his back stick to
the wall,
once the ghost block is activated, he is going to circle strafe
and hopefully out of the room. After all the fight he got into,
he had his warm up
and done messing around. He has a calm mind, he hit the ghost
block even before jellies are ready. He stood in the middle of
danger. But
seek no terrify in his eyes. Echo charges his blade, moving from
one non-trapped area to the other, fighting back when the
situation allows.
Jellies are not note hazardous on agility, rather than quantity.
With Echo’s skills, he effectively maneuvered his way to the
entrance where it
was guarded by two lumbers. Lumbers are usually pancake-flippers
in tier 2 clockworks, but they are not having a fun time
fighting Connor.
As a gunslinger, Connor remains certain distance between enemies
and himself. Lumbers are slow and they are trying their very
best
chasing after Connor. Suddenly Connor turned around charging in
holding his shield up. Lumbers have been waiting for chance like
that.
They have been ready to attack whenever knights are. Lumbers
attacks are relatively slow, giving Connor the beneficial
upper-hand
situation. The chance for lumbers to land a hit rain upon
itself, but it was taken away in a jiff. The two lumbers are
pushed meters away.
This technic is widely used upon knights. However this often put
knights into danger. Connor used the technic because of two
reasons.
One, he needs to secure the passageway for Echo. Two, he is a
veteran who has faith in himself. “Nice timing.” Echo was like
wind blowing
out of the doorway. Connor heard him saying, but he is already
at his back next to the bottle neck. “Let’s do this,” said
Connor. Under the
combo of graviton vortex, shadowtech alchemer charge shots and
geographic benefits (bottle neck). They wiped out the room no
problem.
“Aye give me your statue or die.” Connor claimed, into the empty
room. “Just go get it.” Echo told Connor. He was just trying to
get stuff
done rather than annoyed. After putting the last piece of the
button, the main gate unlocked as expected. They stepped on the
button, in
the next room, in order to activate it. Although waves and waves
of monsters are spawned. Each of them shown hostility fiercely
just likes a
hungry tiger. Fortunately, they decided to just play safe,
circle strafe and keep punishing them with ranged attacks. This
was not the most
effective tactic in history but definitely the safest. The fight
was not long anyways. What is waiting for them next is an
elevator. It will either
take them back to haven or decend further into the clockworks.
By all means, it is the symbol of an ending of one depth. Both
of them did
not receive any critical attacks but were already slightly
wounded by royal minis. Small, weak but sneaky little jellies.
“Use the medical
supplies we picked up along way. And rest up too.” Echo gave
orders to Connor. They sat side by side next to the elevator
resting up, or
patching up. They then stand on the elevator and choose the
option “Decend.” What lies beyond is still unknown.
