Spiral Knights : Butter knife - Chapter 12

The battle was long lasting, exhausting. The Spec Ops members
are beated up. Yet the pain, the feel of defeated are forsaken.
For they are not afraid of death nor this strong foe in front of
them. They can only see
brightness and victory ahead of them.
Seerus stopped, only to taunt them. “We need some sort of
plan.” Eva whispered. “Yeah what do you think mastermind.”
Replied Connor, referring to Echo. They did not put the hard
work on Echo, instead they did
that because they have total faith on Echo. “He is too tough,
his attacks are too dense. We have no way what so ever to even
get close to him. We need to play tricks.” Echo thought out
loud, he knew the general
direction of his planning but his mind is still blank. Maybe the
situation is too hot, or Seerus is spreading a dominating
momentum. Not only did he spread that momentum, he took action
the next moment. He rose his
hammer up top and slams it down at a high speed. The
acceleration rate on his hammer is very high, Echo noticed that.
The Spec Ops rolled sideways to avoid that punishing hit.
Surrounding Seerus. Dallas took the lead to
swing at Seerus, yet it was just a teaser. Seerus jumped up,
leaving a bomb behind and also dodged the swing. Dallas knew him
too good by now, he let the momentum of the swing take him, not
only did he dodged the
bomb, he also gained a lot of free time to prepare for the next
attack. Connor and Eva on the other hand stood still when Dallas
tested Seerus. But light him up when Seerus is in the air, there
was no room for maneuvers.
Seerus took all the hits, he then started the rocket on his
hammer up to get out of dodge. The unspoken combination of these
mighty knights has surprised Seerus. After he was out of the
attack zone, he slided a bit and
then turned around. Whats waiting for him is Echo, Echo has been
waiting just to test out his theory. Echo was right up in
Seerus' face but suddenly disaapeared. Seerus took a swing at
him but missed. He then located
Echo once again with his pair of eyes, ducked down. With some
detailed adjustments he took a swing again. Echo was sitting
right on top of the hammer's way. And that hammer will crush
every obstables in his way. Echo
knew that more than anyone else. He held up his divine avenger,
oddly he pushed the sword to get contact with the hammer
sooner.The hammer was blocked, Seerus was shocked, truly, yet
there was no room for his
questions. Echo did a barrel roll and charged his sword from 2
meters away. As a replacement, a great glowing sword shoved down
on Seerus' mask. The Sudaruska made a brilliant golden light
when it crushed the floor
and launched Seerus backwards. Seerus finally took a hit. Seerus
feels his jaw dropping but felt his butt on the ground. He tried
to get up but got knocked over once more by two giant dark
bullets. Connor and Eva
immdediately started charging up another shot. And Echo ran up
with his Gran Faust, performing a finishing move. This move was
uncommon throughout the Spiral Universe because of its rare
occuring situation and timing.
Yet do not ignore its effectiveness and destructive damage. Echo
had his body stable on his foot, and then started putting force
on his body parts and finally on the Gran Faust. Echo smashed
this accursed demon bane
sword onto Seerus. After the smash a spiritual curse sword
appeared out of nowhere and penetrated Seerus. There were
already small cracks dealt by the Sudaruska charge strike.
Echo's Gran Faust smash worsened the
crack, and the spiritual sword that has penetrated Seerus
damaged his health. Seerus felt tired all the sudden and he
failed to hide his panting. So is Echo, curse is a two-edged
sword. Same happened to Echo before in
the Jelly Palace, but this time they both backed up and took a
breathing. However the others won't leave Seerus until he falls,
Connor and Eva fired another two charged shots at Seerus. Seerus
side strafed this time
instead of jumping into mid-air like he has been doing. “Still
not enough, hugh?” Echo said. “It's still a tie then.”
Hope was never lost in these noble knights' hearts, yet they
now see a clearer image of victory than they have before. They
see this whole facility tearing itself apart, and one of Seerus'
defeated souvenirs is sitting in
a chilling throne room, waiting to be claimed. The throne room
was a heaven to the unbearably blazing hot command centre
they're at. It is like the room itself is breathing fire to
combust unwelcomed intruders. Yet the
throne room is what the knights think of now. And it is how
convident and determined they are towards this battle.
Connor, Dallas and Eva once again stood besides Echo. The curse
status on both Echo and Seerus has gone away. One little
difference is that Seerus' mask is cracked, and one other big
difference is Seerus is no
longer cocky. He stared at Echo like an eagle and as if he is
performing a death stare. Sweat is also seen on his neck, part
from the surprise and are terrified by the storm-like successful
strike these knights had, and part
from himself trying very hard to think of a good way to once
again defeat these knights and to torture them. Seerus knew he
needs to be extra careful and must take these knights seriously.
He wasn't doing his best, yet
he doesn't have any attack patterns, hidden weaponry or tricks
left. His attacks maybe swifter, stronger but not wiser or more
sneaky. The knights have pull themselves together and became a
big challenge to Seerus
himself. Seerus took a mild smash at Dallas, who stood still to
wait for the arrival of the rocket hammer. Dallas sees the
rocket hammer strike down like a doomstar, there is no coming
back from death if he is hit by one of
those strikes. Yet no panic was seen, in fact the hammer stopped
before it gets contact with Dallas' plate armor, it was Echo.
Echo bashed his shield to interrupt this attempt, not on the
hammer itself like a fool but aimed
for Seerus' wrist. Seerus obviously panicked and did not plan
his attack, he completely ignores others but just tried to bring
down one knight at a time like lightning. He was wrong, his big
mistake has allowed Echo's parry
to step in the game. The pathing of the hammer was forced to
lead to the ground. Echo remained in that position, even he is
the master of parry, even after quite a few of witness and
analyse of Seerus' attack pattern, the
power received was still great that Echo felt his left arm
paralysed. But being able to parry this “inhuman” strike is
already a huge milestone. Seerus completely ignores everything
else, he only sees a stunned, vunerable
knight standing in front of him. Seerus held his hammer with two
hands and raised it overhead. Right before the engine on the
back of the hammer starts, Echo put away the pain for a while
and dashed to the right side,
not a soft landing but got out of the way. The “caught rabbit”
escaped from this desperate hunter. Whats behind is a cruel
black bear, Dallas. The Sudaruska is already fully charged.
Seerus was terrified, he leaned
backwards as a reflectional reaction. But this is not changing
his fate. The Sudaruska pinned Seerus onto the ground. A small
fragment from the crack before has shot out and departed from
his mask. Seerus just lies on the
ground like someone who slipped and fell. “Did we just won?” The
knights held this question inside themselves, and causiously
walked towards Seerus. Closing in when suddenly dozens, maybe
over a hundred feet
stomping on the ground charging for the knights. Seerus' evil
laugh from before is pryed open by the knights, he bursted into
a demon-like laughter. And slowly walked backwards. When, all of
a sudden, he spread his arms
and a dozen bombs were thrown out around him. Seerus threw all
his bombs out as last resort. He formed a protective barrier by
bombs. Its either the knights get light up by the gremlin
soldiers or walk into the blast
radius to get blown up.
No hesitation, no regret. Echo took his first step as a charge
towards Seerus. Each steps were heavy. Echo pulled his Acheron
out for the final stab. There is no doubt in sacrificing
himself, for he himself believe it is
best for him and his squad members' sake. His mind was clear,
each noise from his steps produced transferred into his ears
clearly. It was the sounds of tranquility, for it shall bring
peace whether Echo success or not. But
the difference is bring peace to himself or bring peace to this
planet. Echo's brain now take control and monitor every bits of
his body. The explosions happened, dark elements appeared right
after the explosion and circled
around the bomb. These dark elements crash on Echo per cycle,
the go right through Echo but Echo felt energy draining from his
body and severe pain. There is no going back. “Fall like a
normal fighter. Or keep running like
a knight.” This is the last sentence Echo told himself. He
lounged forward, stabbing his Acheron into Seerus' body, it went
through and stopped by the rocket on Seerus' back. A clear
“cling” echoed in Echo's ears, the sound
stopped everything, explosions, his friends shouting, Seerus
laughing, everything.
“What happened next?” one of the kids asked anxiously, “was he
successful in defeating the villain?” “Yes, yes. Otherwise none
of us would be standing here, you probably wouldn't be standing
here too.” An old man
with an attractive beard continues, “I was suspicious when the
grunts all disappeared, so I left my group to venture alone to
find them. I saw it through a window, Seerus kicked Echo aside.
And Dallas was behind Echo
too, he spinned his body to “throw” the weapon at Seerus. It
knocked him down, but them the dark elements got Dallas too.
Connor jumped forward to grab hold of Seerus' rocket, he pulled
some sort of trigger and
launched the rocket. It brought Seerus upwards and crashed into
the roof. Only Eva escaped from the facility, well Alpha and
Beta team got out there in one piece too.” The man continues
with a little sorrow but a lot of
respect, “their bodies are found later by the search team, none
survived. They are now buried in the Avalon graveyard, located
somewhere in the clockworks. If you choose to go out there and
pick up your own adventure,
maybe you will come across their graves. Or well you can track
Eva, she goes there regularly, but its not suggested. Also the
Seerus' mask fragment was found, it is now stored safely in the
LionHeart HeroesHall in memory
of Echo, Connor and Dallas.” He then stood up. “This, is the
tale of four knights.”
