Spiral Knights : Butter knife - Chapter 11

Dallas rushed to Eva. The blast was not direct but still
powerful. Eva is not severely hurt but she may not be able to
move freely for a while. Dallas returned focus on Seerus. He let
his hammer down and showed an
evil laugh, his grin is visible. It is as if Seerus is taunting
Echo. Whose jaw is tightly shut. Anyone would be frightened by
Seerus’ might. Echo and Connor pulled their weapons out. Seerus
and Echo and Connor are staring
at each other. Only one expression is to be seen on Echo and
Connor’s face: challenging the impossible. Even Seerus the
monster feels the determination. Seerus covered his grin up once
again. The atmosphere is getting
more intense. As if the amount of oxygen in air is getting less
dense every second. Dallas can barely breathe, he feels like
something is stuck in his lungs. Without further ado, Seerus
leaped forward with his rocket
hammer, the trace of the hammer trail is nowhere to be seen. Yet
Echo and Connor dodged it with a flawless roll. It made Dallas
believe Seerus’ actions have been predicted. Connor shot a few
bullets at Seerus, yet the
bullets just exploded and were tarnished. It doesn’t seem to
have affected Seerus’ movements. He jumped out of the way after
three hammer smashes. He runs across the map to lay down bombs.
The blast radius isn’t all
that far but Echo had to leap to get out of the way. Echo
quickly turned his face towards Seerus, he is charging up for a
swing. But a rocket like bullet flew out and hit Seerus. A solid
metal hit, the face behind Seerus’ mask
must be shaking. Seerus dropped on the ground and loses balance.
Echo sprinted in and performed a thrust attack with his Acheron,
so as to regain balance and quickly get some hits on Seerus.
Right after Seerus
recovered from stun, he swung his hammer for a full circle. Echo
was surprised by it as ordinary people cannot throw out such big
swings when he has no understanding on what situation he is in.
Yet the swing was deadly,
Echo was too busy laying hits into Seerus. “No time to dodge.”
Echo saw the hammer flying right at his right cheek. He
immediately held up his shield. Normally Echo would try to bash
on the incoming projectiles to reduce
force and bounce back some forces. But this time is different.
Echo beefed up his muscles, and is ready to be launched. As
predicted, the hammer hit Echo’s shield and knocked away Echo.
Echo rolled a few times on the
ground until the force was completely spread out. He omitted the
pain and quickly got back up. Only to let the pain kicks back
in. Echo feels like he has a really heavy knee, the next thing
he did was kneel down. He raised
his head to look at Seerus, the motion was just finished. The
speed of Echo flying out was unbelievably fast. Echo cannot
neglect the damage this time. His body is not at least. His rig
was immediately brought down to red.
“I can’t omit this home run strike.” Echo whispered as he sits
still. It is a very stupid idea to be sitting in front of an
overpowered general. But it is not because Echo decided to, it
is because Echo was forced to.
Seerus suddenly lean forward and jumped at that direction. A
glowing great sword stroke down to the ground Seerus was
standing on. A beam of yellow lights shot up to the sky, the
strength of Dallas is shown every
time he uses a charge attack. Seerus was jumping from one corner
to the other. And a few bullets hit him while he is in motion.
No doubts there are from the gunslinger Connor. Seerus
immediately noticed that Connor can
hit him in any position, any gesture. He will be interrupted in
the long-term. Seerus left a series of bombs near Connor, he was
quick and the bombs detonate fast. Connor barely dodged that
sudden change of target.
Seerus was standing right in front of him after Connor finished
his roll. Connor rolled once more to get out of dodge. Dallas
grabbed the chance of Seerus trying to swing his hammer. Though
Seerus did not swing, he did
not even plan to attack. He just pops up in front of Connor and
then jumped away. It was all a decoy. Dallas’ hit missed as
presumed. And Seerus dashed diagonally and left a bomb where
Connor is rolling right into. It was
as planned, Connor and Dallas are just played by Seerus. Connor
stopped his roll almost instantly and spent all of his juice on
his leg. He boosted himself out, the blast may have helped him a
bit too. “No more safe
landings.” Connor reminded himself as he crashes into the
ground. Now he is lying on the ground and he is vulnerable. This
time Dallas does not go to where Seerus is standing. Instead he
stands next to Connor, waiting
for Seerus’ approach. Sudaruska is a slow weapon, Dallas will
never hit if he just chase after Seerus trying to swing the
sword. What he is doing now is to wait in the position where
Seerus may want to go to. Even if it is
Seerus, he wouldn’t want to be directly hit by Dallas, as Dallas
is standing next to Connor. He couldn’t approach the lying
knight. Even though when Connor gets back up, the advantage is
gone. Seerus doesn’t want to risk
it. And Connor did. Seerus decided to change his plan a bit. He
implied the gremlins to shoot mortars down all over the map. Red
dots are showing up all over the place, mortars started shooting
down left and right too.
“Forget attacking just run!” Connor shouted, “they don’t have
infinite mortars, I hope.” Now Connor and Dallas are just
running around like a headless chicken. Echo and Eva seem to be
able to move now too. They are
hiding behind their shields in a corner. Seerus is nowhere to be
seen, he doesn’t want to be involved in this massacre too,
Connor assumes. Yet suddenly Seerus appeared in the middle of
the room, he threw out a group
of bombs which scattered and covered the middle of the room.
“You cheaty bast…” Connor yelled and dolphin dived. He barely
survived that attack. In fact he was affected and face planted
on the ground. The mortar
attacks stopped, and Seerus is standing still. Returned to the
gesture when he was staring at Echo and Connor earlier before.
Echo, Connor, Dallas and Eva regrouped in front of Seerus, hurt
and tired.
“Things are not looking good.” Echo thought.
