Spiral Knights : Butter knife - Chapter 7
By: KaunLeon Date: July 1, 2014, 9:58 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile at the Lieutenant’s side, they have started
their attack on the gremlins. They entered the war zone, with
sand bags, armory and patrolling gremlins. The gremlins are
surprised to see such big pack of
knights and immediately take action to fight the knights.
Turrets have appeared behind the sand bags, all positioned
facing the knights, waiting for them to get in range. The
turrets will leave nothing alive within its range,
merciless. “Charge! 3-2.” A manly voice shouted like big waves
hitting on rocks. That was a push over, the turrets are
extremely weak against alchemers. So the gun slingers did their
little trick on them: charge up before
walking in range. Before the turrets get to open their mouths, a
giant bullet would be shoved into them. Causing explosions
within their body tubes. When the turrets are wasted, the light
weighted knights pushed, they
run and slice into the gremlins. Their main goal is not dealing
damage but to knockback and stagger. That was just like a meat
shield pushed against them, knocking over everything that got in
its way. As they push further
and knights becoming further apart from each other, gremlins
dented from the gaps, laying on the ground side by side,
surrounded by the knights. Two recon knights are already waiting
for the gremlins’ fall, they placed
their bombs on the ground the gremlins are sleeping on. The
second the bomb splattered out a snowy ring, the gremlins are
frozen and the knights turned around. The gremlins are just
fishes in the net, the knights are
getting it. Just a few seconds of massacre the slaughter has
ended. Only gremlin corpses and a mess is remained. The
lightning battle went very well. “Push forward.” Lieutenant
ordered his man, and they remained the
shape of a ground great shield and covered more ground on the
gremlin facility. No enemy contact yet, but a few circle marks
were made under the knights’ feet. “Mortar!” The first knight
who discovered it yelled. He rolled
to the side and successfully evaded it. Yet the other marked
knights did not have the time to dodge, they simply held up
their shields and prepared to tank through the missile. They
blocked, but the remains of the missiles
splashed out and hit a few knights. “Injured knights get behind
cover! Remaining knights spread out and recon knights, find and
neutralize enemy machines!” Lieutenant says. Soon the recon
knights found the mortar.
“Mortars at 10 and 2, platforms up ahead, route is not secured.”
One of them shouted back. “3 recon knights at each side, make
haste. We’ll support you from behind, mortars as first
priority.” Lieutenant decided to rush in
and take out the mortars. It might be risky but they cannot cope
with the missiles constantly shooting at them, in fact a few
knights are already hit. Make turns up ahead, there are 3
portable armory at each side. Running
past them, the recon knights triggered gremlins to spawn. The
recon knights left them to the other knights and rushed to the
platform. The new came gremlins put attention on the ran-by
recon knights, but was then
swarmed into the rushing knights. “Wamm!” Lieutenant performed a
shield bash on the gremlins. By the perspective of the gremlins,
the shockwave emitted upon the contact of their armor and the
Iron Might Shield is
strong as if a lightning has strike on them. They felt paralyzed
and defeated. Some may have not been knocked unconscious by that
bash, but the finishing blow made by the other knights had
definitely put an end to their
chapter. The recon knights did not hesitate along the way. The
maneuvers have shown how skillful are the recon knights in terms
of agility. The mortar gremlins are surprised and scared seeing
knights at close-quarters.
You can even see sweats coming down their body. Caring such
large metals on themselves. The mortar gremlins are helpless to
melee attacks. The recon knights placed bombs next to them.
Their thick armor made it even
worst to shock damage. They felt like their heads have been torn
apart and fainted.
The knights just set foot on this facility for some minutes,
but a few are already wounded. The knights group up at the
intersection, having gun slingers on guard and the rest are help
healing the wounded knights.
“Just leave us here, we can walk. At least we can put up a fight
and defend this point.” One of the wounded ones said. “No, we
cannot risk losing man.” Lieutenant refused to abandon his
knights. The order of party leader,
Lieutenant, is absolute. The knight doesn’t want to be a
team-dragger. Yet, he sat still and remained peaceful. “Looks
like this is our only way to press forward.” Lieutenant thinks
as he gazes off a distance. He then
divided his troops into two groups, charger and the supporter.
Vanguards and recon knights belong to the charger group while
the gun slingers and wounded ones belong to the latter group.
The “march” into the storms
continued.
They believe that they have proceeded into the gremlins’
assembly line in making missiles. They passed a long walk
without facing resistance, nor ambushes.
The facility is generally red in colour, an infernal passage
themed. The temperature has risen a lot, noise grows every steps
the knights take. Now the knights have got themselves into a hot
and noisy missile assembly
line. Moisten air and steam surrounded the knights and tried to
drain their stamina. Though the knights are highly alert and
focused. After a while of hot bath, they finally engaged some
gremlins. Vanguards spread out into
a line with Lieutenant in the middle. Every one of the knights
have found their targets and stared, just like they are
revengeful. The gremlins felt like penetrated by eye-sights,
when they turn around to inspect, they’ve
noticed that a thousand hungry lions are onto them. Determined
and fearsome pupils staggered the gremlins into motionless.
“Charge!” The knight in middle shouted, as the knights rush to
crush the gremlins and the
gremlins finally pulled themselves together. But it was too
late. They faced the same fate as the gremlins, who at first
engaged the knights in this war. A knight saw a gremlin fleeing
away, but looks like that gremlin is onto
something. He looked at Lieutenant, telling him not only
Lieutenant himself think that is strange. “Spread out, watch out
for traps, ambushes and missiles!” Lieutenant replied. They just
finished taking position, gremlin
reinforcements already arrived, but also with missile
dispensers. The missile dispensers shoot missiles in pattern
across the long hall way, the missiles hit a few obstacles on
the way and demolished them into oblivion. The
knights saw that, and knew that one hit would wreck their days.
Now that they are stuck, gremlins sent out more mortars and some
knockers. The knockers are small gremlins holding two different
colour orbs on two
different hands. One charged up his orbs and swung at a knight.
The knight targeted rolled backwards and dodged. The knockers
seem weak but the explosion produced by the two orbs is huge.
However the knocker
remained there, assuming he is stunned. The knight had his sword
lowered to the ground, and did a thrusting attack along side the
floor. The knockers are really weak, it got hit once by the
leviathan blade and died,
incinerated into ashes. The knockers they sent are every
lasting. They have to escape from this point quick. “Chop off
into smaller groups, 4 knights as a unit!” “You heard the man,”
a knight said and followed orders.
Lieutenant became the first one charging into the tunnel, the
own body was hidden behind the plate shield and the maedate on
the helmet, but Lieutenant still wear that momentum as his aura.
He is a muscular build with
his trusty great shield, two or three missiles won’t be a
problem. They keep hugging the left wall and have seemingly
found a gap. The first unit has suddenly disappeared from the
sight of the left-behind knights. “There
are gaps between! Go in sequence, one unit after one unit,” a
knight noticed this fact. “That's my boys.” Lieutenant said. At
this moment Lieutenant and his “followers” reached the final
gap, a left to the end will have his
knights out of this dangerous tunnel, and possibly a button to
shut it off. However, of course the gremlins won’t let this
opportunity slip away from their palms. Thwackers are sent to
disturb their victory. “Not good,”
Lieutenant thought. Yet, his unit, nor the one behind him
hesitated to go. A few expected bullets came out of nowhere and
hit them with surprise. The instant reactions have the gremlins
drop on the ground, but
Lieutenant’s unit did not bother delivering the final blow,
instead they ran up and stepped on a red button. As expected,
the missile dispensers are disabled. Gremlins don’t seemed to be
happy about the interruption the
knights made to their machines, but they are dead man to
complaint, no one cares.
