Spiral Knights : Butter knife - Chapter 6
By: KaunLeon Date: July 1, 2014, 9:54 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Night has once again been shined upon. The feeling of
exhausted is temporarily away. Members of the Spec Ops woke up,
none spoke but listened to the chilling whirlwind. The snow has
begun to thin out so the
       stage
is once again clear. The assault of the gremlins did not work
out so well. They were shocked by the resistance of the Spec Ops
and sudden reinforcements. They bailed and went back to the
       camp, though fear shall not
bestow on them forever, they will eventually come again. “Where
are the gremlins? I shall slice through every one of them.”
Dallas groaned. “Very soon, gremlins are not born to behave.”
       Replied Echo. “Oh morning my
fellow knights,” the man in charge, Noah, said, “have you people
recovered from exhaustion?” “Of course we have!” Connor stood up
and told Noah. “Very well then, my rogue knights have locked the
       gremlins down in
their own cells. Though some might be out. Ah anyways, I’m
sending your party out. Your mission is to wipe out the whole
gremlins camp.” Noah has given the mission, the request. He sees
the Spec Ops walks out into the
wilderness. Not only Noah did, some knights even cheered for
their future victory. Faith has been acknowledged within each
       and every knight’s heart.
Outside the safe gate is a mess, the gremlins’ invasion and
knights’ defense have caused all this. They walked past the
bottle-neck they were in, and are already greeted by a few
       gremlins survivors. The gremlins are
obviously unprepared for such a sudden attack. With the struggle
of escape or fight, the gremlins chose fight. “Yeah come fight
me!” Dallas roared at the gremlins as he swings his Sudaruska.
       It seemed to be aimless
swipes, but the Sudaruska hits accurately to gremlins’ chest. As
a party leader, Echo shall not be left out by his member. Dallas
and Echo worked hard and cooperate with each other. The morality
       in this squad has risen.
After they’ve neutralized those gremlins “receptions”. They
have finally arrived at the gremlin camp, which is usually
called cells as the camp is basically cells in a piece of flat
land. Eva walked forth a bit and saw
gremlins trapped inside their own cells. The gremlins tried all
sorts of methods attempting to hurt the knight invaders, but the
gate won't budge. “Why are they trapped inside their own cells?
I don’t think they are that
stupid.” Eva asked after thinking herself a bit. “It is the
recon knights. They sneaked in with their recon cloak, hack the
gates and lock them in.” Echo answered with a little smile, he
then look back into the angry gremlins.
“Let’s have a look around before we unleash them.” The snow is
once again back, pile of snow gathered on the ground. Snowflakes
drop down from the thick mist that they can’t see. The vision is
       once again blurred and
not favourable for knights. Connor holds his hat and slightly
downwards, try to penetrate the invincible fog but was unable.
“We better stick together, avoid getting separated.” Connor told
the others, and was agreed by
others. They had to fight a few more gremlins on their tour
around, but that was not big of a deal as neither the gremlins
can see. After a little more walking within the piercing winds
       and dank atmosphere, they decided
not to go too far. Now they have returned to the starting point
where the nature started attacking them. There are 2 cells
really close by, but both need keys. They will have to go
somewhere else to hopefully find a
matching key. Spec Ops kicked a little bit more snow and finally
met a free key, though the key is guarded by gremlins. The room
with the key and gremlins inside is wrapped with indestructible
       blocks around, with a ghost
block at the end. As long as they don’t touch the ghost block,
the gremlins inside will never see the outer world again. Yet,
they need the key and they are doing it. Echo, Dallas and Connor
       charged up their weapons while
Eva is staying back aiming for the ghost block. “3, 2, 1, go!”
Eva shouted as she pulled the trigger, gremlins were once again
set free but they shall soon be put into their graves. The
blocks disappeared in front of the three
knights, they welcomed the gremlins with charge attacks. Giant
bullets, exploding tornado(also known as purple wacky explody
moving you-don't-want-to-mess-with tornado. Thanks Gerald for
       designing the name for
meh.) and rock-crushing smash. Assault gremlins are all downed
by the ambush. What are left are healers and miners. Miners are
more difficult to handle than the average bears. Dallas swung
his sword at the miner but
was evaded. The miner jumped back but left a mine in front of
Dallas. Dallas hurry stepped back out of the bomb range, he
tried again and is forced to remain distance with the miner
again. “Arg… you lousy rat!” Dallas is
annoyed and complained. A man suddenly charged at the miner, the
miner is surprised by the speed of the man and is thwacked in
the face by a katana. The miner did not withstand the attack of
       surprise uppercut. It falls
on the ground and is unable to move as its body is deeply buried
into the thick snow. “Thanks Echo, and now you die lousy rat.”
Dallas looked evilly into the miner. The miner is scared, it
feels like it is going to be tormented
as it was troublesome to Dallas. The worrying came true, Dallas
rises his sword up and smashes it into the gremlin miner. And
       they have secured the key.
The following few cells are just similar to each other, small
cells with dense population, chaotic miners and assault gremlins
throwing mines and hammers everywhere. Yet, the Spec Ops used
       the correct tactic to deal
with it: Reduce their number using long range attack such as the
sentenza and shadowtech alchemer. Then rush in and take down all
remaining gremlins using the Sudaruska and Acheron charge
       attack. And of course,
Echo will deal with dodgy miners while Dallas acts as the main
       hitter.
“Hmm seems pretty clear to me.” Connor said. “Don’t let your
guards down yet, you know how sly can gremlins go.” Echo
reminded not only Connor. “Let’s have a closer look around
again, we really have to wipe out
this whole gremlins facility before the front line is really
temporarily safe. Also, now that the snow is gone, we should
have a better view and hopefully clean up things we left
behind.” Dallas suggested and Connor rejoined
“Aye lets go then, what are we waiting for?” Dallas really
predicted correctly, there are a few more gremlins left. They
refused to leave the gremlins alone but rather beat them up
       until they dies.
“Wh… What is that big machine over there?” Eva spotted a big
half sphere thing and raised a question. “Where?” Connor asks
while looking around, a few seconds later he spotted it too. “Oh
great it is the big pulp,
evade!” Everyone jumped or rolled to two sides. The next second,
an orange light beam shot through the snow they were in. Snow
splattered onto them and a wide pit was left. They all looked at
       the pit and were
speechless. “We really have to face that thing?” Connor looked
at Echo and asked. Echo was at first shocked by the power too,
but he quickly bestow himself with brave and faith. “One way or
       another.” “Let’s go, it just
looks powerful. But weak at close quarters.” Dallas commented on
that big piece of metal. “Okay then, when I countdown to 0,
Dallas and I will rush out. Eva and Connor stay at safe position
       and snipe gremlins, don’t
necessary have to drop them but rather make them fall.” Everyone
understood and the countdown started before the gremlins
engineers are ready. Dallas and Echo charged at the machine but
       not gremlins. The gremlins
throw hammers and wrenches at them and are blocked by their
shields. While the gremlins are just focusing on Echo and
Dallas, they do not notice the two guns pointing at their jaws.
They are sniped down one by one
and the snow made them hard to get up. Echo and Dallas reached
attack range of their swords and swing at the machine. “It seems
like there are shields all around, how do we get through them?”
       Echo wasn’t expecting
an answer from Dallas but he did. As the Sudaruska hits the
shield, it broke and scattered amongst the air. “We slice
through.” Dallas answered after a slight delay. The shields are
taken down one by one and the big pulp
was left vulnerable. It is sitting duck being a training dummy
to Echo and Dallas. Both did not look back but by the sounds,
the gremlins are trying their very best to get up while
constantly getting sniped at or slip. They are
being tricked, and at the same time, getting killed. As the big
pulp is taking more and more damage from Echo and Dallas, smokes
keep coming out of its body. Before it explodes, it shoots out
       an energy wave pushing Echo
and Dallas back. Even Echo is a rogue, he nearly falls. But
Dallas is wearing heavy armor, he failed to balance himself and
fell deeply into the snow. What Echo sees next is the big pulp
charging up for the beam shot it
performed earlier. He rushed to Dallas, helped him up and when
he was going to get Dallas to a safe place, he saw the Sudaruska
glowing and knew what Dallas is going to do. As a party leader,
       he dare not put his
members to risk. Yet, he is unable to stop Dallas. All he hears
are the voice from Connor and Eva yelling at Dallas to tell him
stop, and the roar of Dallas: “Eat this!” The Sudaruska smashes
into the big pulp and the
outermost shell collapses and split open, the gears inside are
crushed into pieces of useless metal. The light beam of the sign
of Sudaruska’s power shined at the haven and through the mist.
And when the yellow light is
gone, another light pressed over the sky. It is the light of the
big pulp’s self-destruction. “That was quite a ****” Echo said.
“And I won.” Dallas told the fact like it is nothing. “Don’t
ever do that again!” Connor yelled at
Dallas, but then knowing both of them are fine, he let out a
breathe. “So that’s the last of them, let us return.” Echo said,
and Eva added, “with glory.” They all smiled and returned to the
       front lines.
Seeing the knights come back with victory, the rest cheers and
Noah walks up and greets them, “well done, and thank you. Go
take a rest. You guys must all be tired.” The soothing night has
       once again shaded on
them, that was the other day at war. Though there are still no
       updates from the Alpha squad……
