Spiral knights : Butter knife - Chapter 5
By: KaunLeon Date: January 26, 2014, 12:53 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The frontal lines are not fully equiped. Yet, Echo and
Connor still arrived at the station. What they see are knights
running around with crates above their head. And a man of elite
armor ordering them to work, and
surrounded by them. Echo approached him, dodging rushing knights
along the way. Connor saluted the leader and asked if he can use
some help. The man seems to be surprised but then calmed once
       again, and is full of
benevolent. “Yes you finally arrived.” He said. “Actually, I
need you two to move these heavy metal crates up to the beacon.
They are full of supplies that the soldiers can use.” Echo and
       Connor, along with their party
member, Eva and Dallas picked up the steel crates and walked
towards the silent beacon. Yet, it is not so peaceful anymore. A
beam of blue lights shot into the skies, marking the attack of
       the gremlins. A tense fog
scattered amongst the camp and the beacon as the centre. Echo
has given the first order as the party leader. “Drop the
supplies and run towards the beacon! Make haste!” The stress
finally exceed, it is clear that the war
has broken out. Echo’s team made it to the beacon and met the
knights there. The knights detected large movements in the
gremlin camp they’ve set up just north of the spiral order
frontal camp. “Spec ops, make it to the
front line. We’ll be the first to welcome them.”
To the front lines, there are knights waiting for contact. A
safe gateway and two turrets were set up. But they are still not
enough to fend off hordes of gremlins, Dallas commented. “Yes,
we’ll have to go out and hold
down the gremlins as long as we can.” Echo said. So they did.
Outside the gateway is freezing cold with breezing wind. Snow
falls heavily on both sides. Spec ops stares through the air
they all breathe. The gremlins have
been sharpening their blades for a fight. “Fight till your last
breathe!” Echo roared as the four mighty knights charged at the
       gremlins.
Echo run and cleaves his Faust into the group of gremlins. They
are densely grouped together near the entrance, so Echo easily
hit a few and knocked them on the ground. It was a good hit but
       still far away from
killing them. Yet Echo is at ease. He rolled to the side and a
man holding a giant sword, the Sudaruska, is ready to send the
gremlins to rest for an eternity. The power of the yellow bubble
shoots at all direction as the giant
sword mashes into every single one of them. Great force was
released as the Sudaruska hits the ground. The power blew the
gremlins away and they never rise up again. Meanwhile the two
       gunslingers, Eva and Connor
are staying at positions slightly further back then the two
warriors. Eva has the Sentenza that can be helpful in sniping
enemies, while Connor’s shadowtech alchemer is used to cut off
       reinforcements. Thanks to Connor, the
warriors are given time to get ready for the second wave.
Different to the first horde, they have healers and scorchers.
And they are really nasty to fight. The first one are powerful
black mages who can put up heals to
bring dead bushes back to life. While the latter can perform a
linear attack which burns whoever get in its way. Sentenza and
shadowtech alchemers keep shooting at these two classes from Eva
       and Connor. That won’t kill
them really quickly but it is the only way. Another Sudaruska
charge attack was thrown out. But it seems like the gremlins
shall never stop coming. Echo changed his weapon to the Acheron.
He focused on one gremlin at a
time, a basic three-swipe attack was performed on a gremlin at
the right side but its still not enough to take down one
gremlin. The armor they have got gave them great protection. Yet
they are powerless to stop Echo’s
ambition to slice through them. He swings his Faust at them and
killed two. “Dallas, scorcher at 11!” Eva gave instructions to
Dallas in order to have a clear shot to the healer behind it.
Dallas thrusts his sword with the wide
end into the scorcher, the scorcher stood no chance against the
Sudaruska and was knocked down without resistance. Which hides
behind the scorcher is a terribly scared healer. He was stoned
       by the fearsome Sentenza.
He made no action so he met his funeral, in the war zone. Dallas
heard another order from Connor to take down the gremlin at the
direction 2 o’clock. He takes a peak at Echo and saw he is doing
       quite well. Echo
successfully took down a couple more gremlins and pushed the
line out of the bottle neck. Yet reinforcements are still coming
non-stop, the spiral knights have to make haste and come soon.
Yet under all the hopes and harsh fights the spiral knights are
still late to the party. The line has been pushing further back
every time new gremlins reinforcements come. Spec ops still uses
       the old tactic. Connor and
Eva will snipe while Dallas holds them back and Echo take them
down one by one. Wielding the great sword Sudaruska is not easy.
Dallas’s endurance has been decreasing rapidly every time he
       swings it. Even Echo is
sweating like ice in desert. They were once out of the
bottle-neck. But they now once again are pushed back. They are
getting over-whelmed by hundreds of gremlins. The atmosphere
       becomes hotter and hotter as
scorchers burn the air they breathe fiercely. With more healers
casting healing spells. It is almost impossible to defeat, nor
even push them back one meter. Spec ops is just struggling at
the edge of a cliff. All of them hope
sincerely in their hearts but god is not responding them. Maybe
they didn’t speak out their wills clear enough. But they has got
no time for saying. Under intense concentration and after all
the fierce actions. Echo and Dallas’
stamina has gone beyond limit. Their movement speed started to
go slow. Dallas even got hit a couple times. Echo did not, but
he started not be able to land any of his hits, rather than
dodging left and right. It is very risky
to stay at the fight there with no support from the spiral
order. Connor told the Spec ops to fall back to the safe gate.
There it is the last holding point they shall have. And it will
be the last chance for them to wait for
       reinforcements.
“They’re coming back! Hostiles engaging at 12! Man the turrets
cover their back.” A knights staying at the safe gate yelled.
Spec ops is graceful seeing them but the war isn’t over yet.
They ran to the safe gate like
they have never ran before. Yet they did not go through the
gate, no time to rest. They once again drew out their weapons
and hold them back. The two turrets shot a few blue beams at the
       gremlins. The amount of
incoming enemies has already been reduced by a lot before they
can get to the Spec ops. Though there are survivors and
soldiers. Spec ops still has to stand up and fight. The
atmosphere around is complete silent. The
heavy steps made by gremlins transferred into each of their ears
loudly and clearly. Yet at last the “tranquility” was disturbed
a voice of a man. “Knights, charge! Escort the Spec ops team
out!” “It is the reinforcement from
the spiral order!” Connor nearly shouted out but he didn’t, he
truly thanked god a thousand times in his heart. The man took
over the command and ordered the Spec ops to go back into the
safe zone and rest. Dallas is
obviously discontent with having to show gremlins weakness.
Though his body strongly disagree with his knight’s pride. As
soon as the focus was spoiled, he fell on the ground. Heavy
noise was produced when his plate
armour hits the ground. Even Dallas is shocked than such strong
body would collapse like that. “Nope, your body disagree.”
Connor pointed out clearly. “We all know that, Dallas, it is
enough.” Echo stared at Dallas, “Spec
ops team fall back to the safe zone!” Echo and Connor helped
Dallas up and slowly walked back to the safe zone.
The reinforcement spiral orders sent is triple the amount of
Spec ops. The stage changed so fast that the knights would be
the winner at any time. And they did. The night has fallen on
the knights. What were left are
corpses and tired knights. The corpses are already dark, with
the shade of the soothing night. The Spec ops team was put to
rest. That was just the first day at the battlefield, but they
felt like it has been years…
