Spiral knights : Butter knife - Chapter 3

What lies beyond is still a myth, but it shall all be
discovered.
“You ready? You know the Royal Jelly doesn’t go ease on
invaders.” Echo just has to make sure of his partner being good
to go. “Yeah, but ask
your Faust first.” Connor replied with a little laughter. “Your
Faust is going to do most of the work.” Faust is a cursed sword
similar to the Divine
Avenger. But the sword doesn’t get cursed for no reason. It is
extremely powerful, but the charge attacks may very well curse
its user. The curse
status lasts for a good bit, leaving the user vulnerable to
anything as he cannot attack during the time period. Ignoring
the effect will kill Echo in
no time. But there is no time for Echo to think. They stare at
the giant gate, what waits behind the gate, is the Royal Jelly,
king of jellies. Connor
and Echo walk side by side on to the button. The death match has
started. But fear was not seen in their eyes. They are intrepid,
bravest of the
braves.
The giant purple jelly accompanied with a few jellies
spawned. The Royal Jelly is gigantic. It is the size of two
trucks, with a crown equal size
to twice of Echo. Connor charges up his gun while Echo runs in
front of him. Echo just blocked Connor’s view for a few seconds.
He then bailed
but left a bomb. Connor had a clear shot to two jellies, but he
waited. The jellies never learn from their lessons. They were
tricked by Echo and
his bomb again. The jellies all grouped together sitting ducks.
Connor delivered his charge attack with an evil smile. Just
before the bullet
reaches the jellies, Echo ran, he runs straight to the Royal
Jelly. He runs and cleaves his Faust into the Royal Jelly’s
body, knocked out some gel.
But compare to the Royal Jelly’s size, it was nothing. Echo was
just trying to lure it out of his little box and draw its
attention. He stepped back,
and an explosion happened behind him. It was Connor’s work. The
Royal Jelly seems surprised by these unexpected “guests”. It
pushed away
its obstacles and try spinning its body to hit these invader
knights. Even though the attacks were basic and simple, Echo and
Connor can still be
severely hurt if they are directly hit by the Royal Jelly.
Connor keeps circle strafing around the Royal Jelly. He uses the
charge attack of
shadowtech alchemer but no others. While Echo charges straight
for the jelly. Faust is a heavy weapon, Echo wish not to be too
greedy and
gets hit too much before the final phrase. Thus, Echo is just
doing hit and runs. The plan worked out very well, the second
phrase started. They
knew that by the sudden splash of gel came from Royal Jelly
itself. Polyps appeared in the four corners. Polyps are
basically jelly turrets that
shoot spikes. Echo was interrupted by the polyps’ arrival. He
has to make up a plan since they cannot work around with all
these polyps
shooting spikes at them. His movement was delayed for a quick
second. The Royal Jelly grabbed the chance and smashes its body
at him. Echo
puts the fight on top priority instead of making a plan. He
rolled backwards and successfully evaded the attack. But he soon
realized a spike is
just behind his back. The spike hits Echo and staggered him.
Connor ended his circle strafe early and ran towards Echo.
“C’mon get up, hide
behind your shield and check your rig.” Connor just got in about
time and blocked the second incoming spike. But with the Royal
Jelly pushing
closer and closer, and spikes coming from all angles, they have
to move immediately. Connor uses normal shots on the polyps. It
takes 4 shots
to kill one on average. After a while of running around, Echo
recovered from nauseating. He then took a pill, which put his
yellow hit points back
to full hit points. Meanwhile as the polyps are all eliminated
by Connor, the room is pretty much clear. They returned to the
first plan. That was
quite effective and brought the Royal Jelly to phrase 3. “We
pissed it off!” Connor reminded Echo with the joke. Echo still
tries to hit and run, but
the Royal Jelly seems not to care. Echo was wondering what is
going on with the purple cube when two vials flew from his back
to the Jelly. Both
hit the jelly and exploded with different particle effects. One
is red and the other is green: “Fire and poison!” Echo shouted
with delight. He knew
it was Connor’s work so he didn’t look back. Fire will
constantly damage the jelly while poison will reduce its attack,
defense and most
importantly, harm it if it tries to heal, as the Royal Jelly
will absorb its royal minions to regain health. “I don’t have
many vials left, so if you wanna
do it now, do it!” Connor said. “This is going to hurt a bit.”
Echo whispered to himself. Connor saw a yellow bubble appeared
around Echo.
Connor instantly picked up a remedy capsule from his backpack.
He holds the remedy with one hand and keeps shooting Royal Jelly
with another
hand. Echo feels the power coming from the sword itself. Dark
purple particles are floating around Echo. Echo ran into the
jelly, looking up the
jelly closely. Echo was already into the attack range of the
Royal Jelly but he was still waiting. He is waiting for the
perfect moment to deliver the
strongest hit of the abyss. Royal Jelly hit Echo solid. Echo was
accumulated to pain but he did not let down Connor’s faith on
him. He conquered
the pain and performed the charge attack with every last of
himself. The purple particles around him transformed into one
giant sword: Great
sword of the grave lord Nito. Thrust right into the jelly and
penetrated the Royal Jelly. The purple particles then stuck onto
both Echo and the
Jelly. They are both cursed. The Royal Jelly was severely hurt
but it is fighting till its last breathe, it crashed into Echo
and Echo dropped. His rig
has got nothing left. “Flame on, poisoned and cursed. Royal
Jelly you’re going down.” Connor made this statement with
confident. A charged
bullet from Connor hit the Royal Jelly as the sentence ends.
That was not the last of the Jelly but got it enraged. It
started spinning fiercely like
potassium on water. The purple particles are shining as it
spins. “Oh that must’ve hurt like hell.” Connor said. After the
wave of attack, the Royal
Jelly felt something wrong with its body, it started tweaking.
Finally, it exploded into thousands of gel. Connor stands next
to Echo, putting his
hand on his chest. “You did well my boy.” And revived Echo by
giving him half of his energy. “Ah man, touching the bottom of
your rig is not fun.”
Echo complained. They collected the tokens lying on the ground
and walked up the stairs into a treasure vault. They claimed up
their rewards
and stepped on the elevator. “I’m going to bar right
afterwards.” Connor told Echo. “Well I’m going to bed.” After
they’ve reported to spiral
orders and claimed their rewards from spiral headquarter. One
went to the bar and one went home.
The flash backs ended in Echo’s mind. “Ah Faust goes
harsh.” Echo changed his costume into the dragon scale set and
headed out for the bar in heaven.
