Octavia froze for a moment, face flushed and blinking absently
as the words she just heard didn't quite register properly at
first. "Whoa there, Vinyl, hold your horses. Shouldn't we--uh, I
mean... Uh... Oh....." She nearly flustered herself until she
saw Vinyl yawn sleepily, ears drooping in embarrassment as she
sighed quietly in relief. "N-nevermind, just forget that I said
anything." Laughing nervously, the cellist adjusted herself to
lay comfortably across Vinyl, tucking her head just underneath
the DJ's snout and the crux of her shoulder. It was truly a
comfortable feeling, and even though the pair had never really
cuddled in this sense, it wasn't a foreign feeling due to the
amount of time they've spent together.
"You know, you were zipping around earlier... Did this wear you
out that much? We've hardly done a thing... Although a nap does
sound lovely." Octavia moved her head slightly, glancing up to
see Vinyl's reaction. "There you go with those glasses again...
How do you even sleep with those?"

Vinyl wrapped her hooves tightly around Octavia when she settled
herself down, a child-like grin on her face as she got
comfortable as well in that position, one of her back legs
intertwining with Octavia's. One of her hooves slowly ran along
the mare's back--similar to how she'd been 'petting' her cheek
earlier--a pleased hum and slight giggle escaping her at the
same time, at least until Octavia brought up the glasses once
more. Vinyl's nose wrinkled at the question before her horn
glowed, her magical aura enveloping the glasses over her eyes so
she could levitate them up, and onto Octavia's face instead.
"Izzzz easy. You juss' put 'em on an' you close your eyes. An'
yup, a nap sounds reeaaaal good right 'bout now. So'mmm g'nigh',
'Tavipus," Vinyl slowly began to degenerate into a mumble, eyes
drooping closed before she just outright crashed, snoozing
quietly against the grey mare above her with her hooves wrapped
       tightly around her.

So she stayed for the most part until her body woke her up
again--with a lack of a hangover, thankfully, though her mouth
felt like a desert. With an expression of disgust, Vinyl smacked
her lips a couple times before cracking her eyes open and
turning her gaze down for a moment to the pony she had her
hooves around, before remembering most of what had gone down and
why she had woken up like this: the alcohol had impaired her
judgment juuuuust enough that she was able to get around to
approaching the topic she'd always been hesitant of doing so.
More of the minute details escaped her--such as some of the
sillier things she'd said and done--but for the most part she
had a surprisingly intact memory of the things that had
happened. Partly because she hadn't been completely wasted.
There hadn't been anywhere near enough alcohol consumed for
       that.
While she was reluctant to wake the mare sleeping on top of her,
the dryness in her mouth was much more pressing and
uncomfortable to deal with. So, Vinyl gently rose her hooves to
the mare and shook her in the least jarring manner she could
manage as she said, "Heeeyy, 'Tavi. C'mon, sleepyflank. I gotta
get some water." She paused for a moment before pursing her lips
in thought. How to get her awake... Grinning a little
mischievously, Vinyl took one of her hooves from around Octavia,
only to bring it to her ear so she could gently tickle the
inside of it. At the same time, she said, "If you get up in the
next minute or so, you'll get another kiss on the cheek," hoping
to entice the mare awake with a reward.

Octavia's ear began to twitch involuntarily, desperately seeking
an escape from Vinyl's hoof which now assaulted it. After a few
moments of little to no movement or sound from the mare, Octavia
finally peeped open a violet eye and just stared at the white
unicorn beneath her. "Vinyl...?" Pinning her ears straight back
to escape the assault, she tensed up for a brief moment, unsure
of her current state. A few seconds later, Octavia seemed to
visibly relax as she opened her other eye; her gaze became soft
and caring as memories from earlier became more clear. It wasn't
until Octavia's mind caught up with her that she realized Vinyl
was telling her something, although what in specific was lost in
the translation from the process of waking up.
The mare rose her head a little, replaying the memories in her
head as she tried to convince herself that this all wasn't a
dream. First, Vinyl wasn't wearing her glasses. Second, they
were both stacked on top of a couch rather than their respective
beds. Third, she remembered drinking, which was something she
usually stayed away from. Fourth... No, wait... She did drink.
In fact, that's what had brought on this series of events.
Octavia's eyes widened as all the memories and information fell
into place, and with a heavy sigh, buried her head against
Vinyl's shoulder and proceeded to give her the biggest hug she
could muster from the position she was in.

"Yeeaaah, there you go," Vinyl encouraged with a grin as Octavia
finally stirred, opting to rub the mare's ear to get rid of any
itchies Vinyl might have brought about. "Sooo, you gonna let me
get up so I can go get some...water..." Vinyl said, pausing when
Octavia sighed heavily and nestled her head against Vinyl's
shoulder again. She huffed quietly at that and gently gave
Octavia's back a few pats before running her hoof from the
middle of the mare's back and up to her chin, where she pushed
Octavia's head up from her shoulder. She then held her head in
place before leaning forward to plant that kiss she'd promised
onto Octavia's cheek before releasing her hold and moving that
same hoof to begin prodding at the grey pony's sides. "How'd'ja
sleep, 'Tavi? You don't have a headache I hope?" she asked,
pausing for a moment before following that up with. "Y'know, if
you let me get up for some water, I can make some breakfast for
       us."

Octavia murmured quietly in some form of protest as Vinyl lifted
her head, blushing as scarlet as a grey pony could as the
unicorn leaned forward to kiss her cheek, followed by a series
of small, tired 'mehs' as she began to poke her side. Blinking
slowly, Octavia finally sat up a little and rubbed her eyes,
yawning heavily as she nodded sleepily in response to Vinyl's
questions. "I probably slept better than I have in a long
time... Certainly much better than I've been in Canterlot..."
Octavia put a hoof to her head, blinking again as she sat up all
the way and dangled her hind legs off the edge of the couch.
Although generally frowned upon in Canterlot, the position was
rather odd, yet comfortable. "No headache, but I do feel
lightheaded... And thirsty as a horse... Is it really morning
already?" The mare looked around for a moment, gauging the sun's
brightness that filtered through some nearby curtains. "I
suppose I can let you do that," she said with a coy smile,
gingerly hopping off the couch as she stood and yawned for a few
moments. "I trust you won't set fire to anything? We don't want
a repeat of the pudding incident."

Vinyl couldn't help but laugh a little bit at the 'meh's Octavia
was giving in response to the prods, the DJ pony finding this
reaction to be highly amusing. She continued to poke at the
mare's side until Octavia sat up, offering a couple more prods
before finally giving up as she spoke. When one of her back legs
had been freed from underneath Octavia, Vinyl slowly began to
stretch the leg back and forth, gaze locked onto the pony who
was now her marefriend. When 'Tavi removed herself from the
couch completely, Vinyl stretched her other leg before lazily
rolling off the couch and onto all four hooves, her nose
wrinkled after Octavia's jab while stretching more of her limbs
at the same time. "Hey, it was something new and I wanted to try
it. I mean, you remember, cookies and cream pudding and peanut
butter and jam toast combo. Awesome, right? If it hadn't been
for you distracting me with that dancing turkey, it would've
       turned out great."
"And hey, if we're goin' that far, what about that 'incident'
with those macadamia nuts where you almost incited a riot?"
Vinyl teased, no doubt exaggerating the details about that a
little bit as she stepped into the kitchen to pour herself a
glass of water and down it, only to begin pulling out a few
necessary items to begin making their breakfast. A quick glance
to the clock, however, showed that it wasn't quite a
conventional morning. Instead... "Well, we're off to a pretty
early start today. Three thirty in the morning. Guess we fell
asleep early too. Hope you didn't have anything really planned
for late in the day." Vinyl paused for a moment before speaking
up again, her gaze held on the potatoes she had before her as
she idly cut the peels off. "So, uh... Last night was pretty...
eventful. You feel like... maybe... talking about it?"

"Well, Vinyl, there are more conventional ways to make toast...
Like the toaster in the corner, not the stove-top. And while
we're at it, there are more conventional ways to light a
stove-top, like turning the appropriate knob, not a fire spell.
But I digress... While I did distract you, what survived was
quite... delectable. I'll give you that." Octavia followed
closely behind Vinyl as she entered the kitchen, downing a glass
of water herself as the DJ recounted her own little jab at the
grey mare... She was not too keen to dig up and relive the
memories of that day, but what was done had already been done.
"Oh, pish-posh, Vinyl. It was supposed to be a extravagant
baking fundraiser for the Kernel family. How was I supposed to
know that what I bought was white chocolate? They both look
exactly the same, but apparently white chocolate doesn't go over
too well with health... nuts..." She blinked. looking around the
room meticulously as if somepony were watching before ducking
down to a whisper. "And to tell you the truth, I just repackaged
those as a healthy alternative to trail-mix, and they loved it.
       What's the difference, hmm?"
The mare shook her head and straightened up again, watching
Vinyl carefully as she went about the room. When the DJ asked
her about the events of last night, Octavia quirked a brow in
puzzlement. She would need a better definitive subject than
'it', but it wouldn't be too hard to venture that she was
talking about their new, for all intents and purposes,
relationship. Maybe she was just over-thinking it... "Well..."
Octavia started, moving over to stand next to Vinyl. "I'm up for
a discussion, seeing that you're not under the ale this morni--
IT'S THREE-THIRTY IN THE MORNING!?" The mare cut herself off,
her ears perking up in shock as she whipped her head over her
shoulder to check the clock. Sure enough, it was approaching
three-forty-five in the morning. Octavia sighed and shook her
head again, moving to get another glass of water. "Apologies.
No, I don't have anything planned, but as I was saying, I would
be up for a discussion. Anything in particular you're trying to
       ask?"

Devoting herself to continuing with the peeling of the potatoes,
Vinyl nodded slightly to Octavia's agreement to talk, some of
the anxiousness she'd always felt before when she even thought
about broaching the subject with her before surfacing once
again. At least until Octavia randomly exclaimed over the fact
that it was three-thirty, causing Vinyl to drop the potato and
the peeler in surprise. "Dang, Octypus, I didn't think it was
that big a deal," she murmured as she levitated the potato over
to the sink so she could wash it off. That interruption,
thankfully, was enough for Vinyl to get herself to calm down a
little bit and think about how to broach the subject.
After Octavia asked if there was anything in specific she had in
mind, Vinyl shrugged slightly as she began to shred one of the
potatoes with a cheese grater. "So... We're, uh, we're a thing
now. Yup. Heh, imagine that, eheh," she chuckled almost a little
bit nervously, her gaze not moving from the cheese grater as she
sliced the potato up. "I mean, uh... just... weird thinking
about it. Not in a bad way! It's... like, 'aaaah, I can't
       believe it!' You know? Ehehe..."

Octavia quirked a brow, eyeing Vinyl curiously as she seemed to
trip over her own words. She wasn't too surprised, honestly,
given that much of what happened was a direct result of alcohol
on both her and Vinyl's account. Now that its effects had worn
off, Vinyl seemed to be a bit at a loss, perhaps even nervous.
"I see," Octavia replied in short, more addressing her own
thoughts than Vinyl. The cellist wasn't very proficient in these
kinds of discussions, but one thing was definitely for certain:
this was something Vinyl had wanted for a long time... And
perhaps even Octavia herself, although it would be much harder
for her to admit as such. The mare broke away from Vinyl, ears
forward and head bowed deep in thought as she paced around the
room. "You know what I think?" she finally continued, halfway
turning to lean against the counter. "If my hunch is correct,
you've wanted this to happen for quite some time, Vinyl."
Octavia pushed herself off the counter, now returning to Vinyl's
side so she could get a good look at her face. "I'm not even
going to ask why it happened the way it did, but I will ask you
one thing, Vinyl Pon-three Scratch..." Now there was something
that would catch her attention. Octavia rarely utilized the DJ's
name in that form, but one might say it has the same effect as a
mother addressing her foal by their full, un-abbreviated name.
"Put that down and look at me for a moment."

Yeah, this was going great. As Vinyl stumbled over her words,
she was reminded of why she hadn't really approached this topic
in the past: it was full of unknowns, and what ifs, and the
possibility of ruining things. Not that she usually minded those
kinds of things when her 'F-I-L-D-I' kicked in, but... Things
with Octavia were different. Octavia was a good friend--a really
good friend--and she was also Vinyl's roommate. There were a lot
of consequences if things got awkward between them.
Instinctively, Vinyl swallowed when Octavia piped up, talking
about what she thought. That gulp was then followed quickly by a
blush that Vinyl couldn't hide when Octavia mentioned it being
something that Vinyl had wanted for some time, another nervous
chuckle escaping her as she continued shredding the potato.
Even as Octavia stepped up beside her, the DJ kept her attention
on the meal she was making, avoiding the urges to flick her gaze
over to the cellist when she continued, mentioning she had a
question. For a moment, Vinyl tried to figure out what that
could be as she was finally unable to keep from turning her full
attention over to Octavia when she said her name the way she
did, only to fumble briefly when she was asked to put the
potatoes down. She hesitated for a moment before 'umm'ing
quietly as she set the cheese grater and potato down, followed
by her turning to face Octavia fully. "'Tavi, I know I'm not the
best at grammar, but last I checked that wasn't a question..."
