Re: Play by Play

She had him where she wanted him, she was so close, all she had
to do was pin him and say that she had him, and it would be over
and the victory would be hers. Blossom leaned forward, going to
put both of her legs over his so he wouldn't be able to move.
Sooo clooose--
Suddenly, she was thrown forward as Bastion bucked upwards,
sending her off balance and landing in a rather awkward position
for her. She knew she'd been had at that point, and it would be
nigh impossible to fend off what was to come now. He pushed her
uprooted body off of him, Blossom landing on her back beside him
as he rolled over top of her, his massive stature looming over
her as he leaned down, placing one thick foreleg across her
chest, with the other three legs rooting himself in position.
Now she was stuck, and no matter how much she squirmed, she was
not going anywhere. She couldn't even kick out his legs from
here, curse her smaller size.
Both of her forelegs worked to push his pinning leg away, but to
no avail; this was how he ended up winning most of his spars
with the other recruits, and nopony had yet to devise a way out
of it. As Blossom quickly looked around, trying to find some way
to get him off, her mind also froze as she saw another option,
more a place to strike than anything. Shaking her head to clear
her mind of such a thought, she had to find something else.
There would be no dishonorable low blows on a friend, even if
she was losing, but there had to be something... maybe her
flexibility could help.
With a grunt of exertion, she curled her body up as best as she
could, bringing her back legs up towards their heads, her entire
back half in the air as she worked her hind legs to some sort of
position. Should she wrap her legs around his neck and try to
make him surrender before she strangled him? Or does she attempt
to go for the leg that pinned her, alleviating the pressure on
her chest and threaten to break his leg backwards in a leg-bar?
Deciding to go for the later, she went to wrap her legs around
his foreleg, set both of her back hooves against his shoulderand
start to push upwards off of her back, both holding his leg in
place, and pushing against his elbow with her hips.

He'd pretty much won this one, he thought. She wouldn't really
be able to easily break free from underneath him like this, not
when he was putting most of his weight into that leg to keep her
pinned down. Not all of it, of course--he didn't want to crush
her underneath him--but it was just enough to keep her subdued.
Just as he opened his mouth to tell her to give it up, she began
to squirm underneath him, causing him to blink as he tried to
figure out what was going on.
He only managed to figure out she was bringing her back hooves
up when she'd gotten them almost all the way to his shoulders,
and by then it was too late for him to really do anything. She
was also moving her front hooves to his, possibly to try and
worm them both underneath his hoof, but as long as he kept his
leg pinned against her like that, he didn't really have to worry
too much about that. However, her back hooves were a problem.
Despite Bastion's size and strength, he knew Blossom had some
strong back legs herself between her training and the way she
moved. If he gave her any chance, he knew she'd get all the room
she needed and things could go south for him.
So, taking the front hoof that wasn't pinned to her chest,
Bastion brought the leg around her back leg and jerked it
forward against the bend at her knee in an attempt to get her
leg to buckle and allow him to win. As was given permission,
Bastion succeeded in doing so, leaving Bastion lying on top of
Blossom and grinning triumphantly once more to her with one hoof
still pressed against her and his other hoof wrapped around her
back leg, face inches from her in this new position. "Checkmate,
Salmon," he told her, chuckling as well. "Looks like you'll be
taking care of that tip after all."

Despite her best efforts, they were still not enough compared to
the vast advantage that Bastion had over her at this point. His
attention shifted to one of the few things keeping her from
defeat, being her back legs, and proceeded to push on it,
bending with the knee so that her support against him would fall
apart, and he would be left to pin her completely. It was
exactly what happened to, and in the span of the next minute of
struggling, he was lying right on top of her, her face red from
exertion and pushing against him, fatigue built up in her
muscles as she lay helplessly on her back, Bastion lying on top
of her, holding one of her back legs so that she wouldn't try
the same thing again, and still his massive foreleg against her
chest. Try as she might, she couldn't move from this, and the
realization came after he announced that he had won.
Her look of exertion and fury turned to one of frustration and
disappointment, and her head fell back onto the mat with a
padded thud as she took a deep breath, finally muttering in a
tone of disappointment, "Yeah... you win... I yield." How could
she let herself lose like this? This was something that she
wasn't going to let slip from her mind for a long time, nor will
the shame of this defeat leave her for a while either. She would
have to come back and challenge him later, study his movements,
look for more weaknesses, and outwit him next time... next
time...
Another deep breath cooled her roiling turmoil of thoughts, and
she looked back up at Bastion, a little bit of a blush colouring
the cheeks of her already flustered face as she realized the
position that he was in, and there was nothing that she could do
about it. She froze up at his choice of words too, mind stuck on
one thought as she looked up at his grin, taking a little while
for her to figure out exactly what he meant by taking care of
the tip. Shaking her head a little she said, "Y-yeah, looks like
I'll have too..." she trailed off, her thought wandering back to
what she saw earlier for a brief second before asking, "Are you
going to get off of me and let me get my bitpurse then? Or are
you just going to sit on top of me like this and relish your
victory? I mean..." she bucked her hips a little and squirmed a
little more, trying to get out from this position that she was
very much uncertain of, "... come oooon..."

Bastion just continued to grin at her as he kept her pinned in
place, not really realizing the implications of it quite yet. He
just wanted to tease her for a little bit and milk the victory,
though he did begin to notice something was off when she began
blushing and stammering, both actions completely unlike her
usual self. It wasn't until she bucked her hips against him that
he finally began to realize that he was... between her legs, a
hoof wrapped around one of them...
Blushing furiously as well, Bastion scrambled from on top of her
and retreated a few inches before awkwardly standing in place
for a moment with his gaze averted. "Uh... S-sorry. Sorry," he
repeated in a mumble, his mind failing to give him anything to
work with. He stood like that for a second or two longer before
walking back towards his bunk, his movements almost a little bit
sheepish. When he reached his bunk, he lowered himself on it and
kept his gaze averted, hoping he hadn't messed things up and
made them too awkward.

He seemed to be thinking the exact thing that he was thinking,
because pretty soon, he was off of her, and she was free to
stand up gain. She didn't stand up immediately though, giving
herself a moment to collect her thoughts before rolling onto her
side to stand up, brushing herself off before giving Bastion a
sidelong glance, noticing that he was putting just as much
effort into avoiding looking at her as she was him. Blossom
didn't blame him, they were just in a pretty scandalous and
intimate position a minute ago. She followed Bastion's lead and
went back to the bunk, still trying to figure out something to
say about this, or what she should even do.
Well, first things first, she had to pay up on her wager with
him. Going to the footlocker as he climbed onto his bunk, she
opened it and produced a small bitpurse, recounting the amount
of money she owed before retrieving it. Looking back at Bastion,
she sighed, figuring that this would probably be the best way to
cut the tension. She walked over to him, holding out the amount
of bits she owed in front of her as she said with a smile,
"Alright, here's your winnings." As she gave him the coins, she
looked him in the face, should he turn around to look at her,
and smiled a little more, adding, "That was a good fight. You
really got me there. You're going to have to show me how you do
that sometime, you know?" Hopefully this would at least lessen
the tension.

But despite his hopes that he hadn't made things too awkward,
Bastion's mind kept replaying the scene in the training area,
and kept hanging on the victory position they'd wound up in.
Another blush would flare up as a result and he'd try to force
his mind elsewhere, only to have the process repeat despite his
efforts. Fortunately, Blossom finally approached to give him
something else to think about, and he turned his gaze down to
the bits offered before taking them from her and glancing up to
meet her gaze briefly. The smile did help to ease him a little
bit, though the overall awkwardness still lingered--and he had a
feeling it would for a while longer.
"Uh... Well, it wasn't really that special. But yeah, I guess if
you really want me to teach you that, I can..." he said quietly
with a slight shrug. "You, uh, you sure were something else,
being able to bring your back hooves up like that. Can't say
I've seen many ponies that... flexible," he murmured again,
looking as if his blush was coming back. "Then again, I guess
you're 'Grace' for a reason." After saying so, he sat in silence
for a second or two later before pushing himself up so he could
move over to his footlocker and deposit his winnings. "We should
probably try and get some sleep... Early shift and all, right?"
He asked as he moved back over to his bunk, still trying to keep
his gaze averted from Blossom.

Blossom nodded to Bastion slightly when he agreed to teaching
her how to do what he did someday, before proceeding to
compliment her on her flexibility. Scratching the back of her
head as she remembered what led up to her bringing her back legs
up like that, the sting of defeat coming back in her mind along
with the warm embarrassment of what she saw and the compromising
position she was in, "... oui, wielding a polearm kinda needs
the wielder to be particularly limber to be able to perform some
of the moves properly, but really, it was nothing when put
against you. You pretty much had me the moment you were on top
of me, so I'd say you know how to move pretty good as well to be
able to outmaneuver me."
Nodding suddenly in agreement to Bastion's suggesting that they
go to sleep, Blossom offered Bastion another light smile,
reaching forward to pat him on the shoulder as she said, "Yeah,
early shift. I know I'll need the rest after that fight."
Looking up to the top bunk, she jumped and swung herself up onto
her bunk with a grunt, sitting herself upright as she pulled
back the sheets on the bed. Before climbing under them, she
lowered her head over the side of the bunk, looking at Bastion
upside down as she said, "Bonne nuit, good night Bastille, sleep
well." She then lay her head on the pillow, resting on her side
as she tired to lose herself to sleep, although after the
night's sparring match, she couldn't help but feel that she was
forgetting something, and as she slept, her pillow would migrate
from under her head to being hugged to her chest.
