Blossom did much of the same as Bastion removed her own armour,
standing still so that he could work faster as she levitated the
pieces neatly into her own trunk while mounting her guisarme on
a weapon rack by their bunk. When Bastion made his rather rude
comment about how she smelled like toilet water, she let out an
exasperated sigh before replying, "I'm sure you would smell much
of the same if you didn't have to stand in the light that was
pouring through the window on a hot summer day." She started
walking with him towards the public showers, adding, "Just make
sure you actually -clean- your armour this time around,
Bastille. There will be hell to pay if I have to stand next to a
guard that smelled of a musty footlocker full of sweaty armour
again."
When they entered the shower area, she walked up to a shower
head that was next to the one that he chose, turning the tap for
'cold'. She grit her teeth as she was cooled off, answering his
question, "The last time I had a chance to see a play was before
I had left Prance. It was another of the plays that my father
enjoys, though I cannot remember what it was called. It was
around the time where I started spending entire days practicing
before I had to come here for Basic Training, so I had little
free time." As she said that, she started to wash herself with
the soap that was provided, making sure not to miss a spot.
"Plays aside, are we going to get something to eat while you are
busy walking and thinking? I'm famished."

"Bah... I told you I cleaned my armor, Salmon. And I told you my
guess was that some of the other guards pulled a prank on me and
replaced the stuff I was using to clean it with other stuff that
wouldn't work," he responded to her comment about the smell of
his armor, a mock scowl coming to his face. "Anyway, I probably
would smell much of the same if I stood in the light. Heck, I'd
probably smell worse. I mean, I'm bigger than you, so there's
more body over here to sweat from." After commenting on their
scent, Bastion followed her into the showers without hesitation
before walking over to the spout beside the one she was at.
Bastion turned the tap for cold on as well, as well as a little
bit for 'hot' to take the bite and initial shock out of the rush
of water. After getting his mane and body wet, Bastion grabbed a
separate bar of soap as he listened to her speak. "I'm cool with
that. Don't remember whose turn it is to pay for it, but we can
probably figure that out later. What're you up for today?
Japonese? Seafood? Breakfast for dinner? Or do you just wanna go
to Maya's again?"

Blossom hummed to herself in thought at the options that were
listed for places to eat. Seafood didn't usually sit too well
with her, and breakfast for supper was such an oddity that she
would only consider it if she was either feeling adventurous or
it was her only option. Right now it was neither, so her choice
was relatively easy, "Maya's sounds as good as ever, Bastille. I
don't think I could handle getting sick off of Japonese or
seafood again for a while still." She remembered that day, where
she had food poisoning from what she ordered and was forced to
take half a week to recuperate. It was humiliating enough that
she was weak enough to get sick, but it made it worse that she
was unable to do her duty at that point.
Letting the lather run off her in the torrent of cold water, she
too started to turn the tap towards a warmer water, taking the
opportunity to wash her main and tail before standing up on her
hind legs, closing her eyes, and leaning against the wall with
her front legs, her head angled just enough so that the water
was right in her face, rushing over her head. That was
refreshing. She closed the tap when she finished, walking over
to a rack of towels while still dripping wet as she began to pat
herself down, "I hope I'm not being too repetitive by picking
Maya's again, but as far as I know, it is one of the few
restaurants here that I can actually call 'classy'."

"Alright, so Maya's it is," he told her when she chose that
familiar cafe once more, shrugging a bit as he rinsed the soap
off of his body before washing his mane and tail next. About the
time he finished that, movement out of the corner of his eye
caught his attention and he glanced over to Blossom just as she
stuck her head in the way of the water. Caught off guard, he
just stared for a few moments like a deer caught in headlights
before snapping back to reality as Blossom lowered herself back
to all four hooves. He shook the images of her like that from
his head before rinsing off what little shampoo was left in his
mane.
Turning the shower off, Bastion followed Blossom over to the
towels and levitated one onto his body to begin rubbing himself
dry, and rolling his eyes at what she said about choosing
Maya's. "If I wasn't okay with going to Maya's, I would've said
so, woman. I like the food, it's got a good atmosphere, they
treat their customers right... I'll always like going there."
After drying himself off for the most part, Bastion carried the
towel to the dirty laundry hamper and dunked it in. "I'll be at
our bunk while you pretty yourself up," he quipped, before
heading back over to his bunk to lie down on it, not bothering
to brush his mane. "So what's up with being afraid of being
repetitive?" he called over to wherever she was, glad there
weren't any night shift ponies nearby sleeping that he'd have to
worry about disturbing. "Seems a little unlike you."

At the sound of his talking to her rather rudely, she raised her
front hoof and gave him a good hit on the shoulder as he passed,
rolling her eyes at him as she said, "Watch your tongue there,
or this 'Salmon' will show you just how much hurt a large mouth
will get you, Bass." She had to be sure to reprimand that kind
of behavior, otherwise he might get the idea that she was okay
with him talking down to her like that, but really, it wasn't
going to stop him from doing so, so she had gotten used to it.
She was known for challenging any recruit to a duel for
insulting her or her name, but she had to only give Bastion a
warning this time since she can't go around beating him up like
that. That would be bad for their little alliance that they had
going for them. She watched him as she wandered back to the bunk
herself, digging a brush and a small makeup mirror from it
before climbing up to her bunk, sitting down and brushing her
mane as she looked in the mirror.
After her mane was nice and straight, she started to apply some
of her makeup so that she would at least be somewhat
presentable, though nothing incredibly outlandish. Her mother
always said it was respectable to always try to look your best
anywhere at any time. "There is a difference when it comes to
repetition in regards to food, Bastille. A routine is completely
fine, but you try eating the exact same single thing every day,
three meals a day, for a week, then tell me that you would want
more of it." After the little bit of makeup was applied, she
leapt down from her bunk, turning to look at him before letting
out an exasperated sigh, "Bastion, you look like a mess! Are you
going to at least brush your mane? You already don't have any
formal clothing, and you should at least want to look
respectable."

As Bastion lay in wait for Blossom to finish applying her makeup
and brush her mane, he retrieved the paddle that had a ball
attached by a string and idly began whacking the ball into the
air repeatedly as he propped himself up a little bit in bed,
listening idly to Blossom as she talked about eating the same
thing being repetitive. "I guess you're right about that, but we
don't go there that often. They have a pretty large selection,
and it's not like we go there every day. Either way, I'm good
with Maya's." He then focused for a little bit on the ball and
paddle, almost as if just going through the motions to pass
time.
When Blossom finally finished and she hopped down from her bunk,
Bastion levitated the paddle back into his trunk and moved to
sit up, but paused when she began nagging him over his
appearance. He sighed quietly before shrugging a little bit at
her. "I wasn't planning on it, Mom. Didn't really think I had a
reason to, and I figured I'd have enough time before the play to
come back here and clean up a little bit. But I know as usual
you're not gonna let this be," he said with a sigh as he pushed
himself up and levitated a brush out of his trunk to begin
running it through his mane. "I still don't understand the point
when I'm not on the job, or when I don't have anypony to
impress. Especially when my hair just winds up like this
afterwards," he said when he finished brushing his short mane,
his hair still looking a little disheveled--partly in thanks to
the couple unruly cowlicks that stuck up or out to the side, no
matter how much brushing there was, not to mention all the
little strands of frizz that went wherever they wanted.

Watching as Bastion started to brush his mane, Blossom waited
patiently. He wasn't kidding, his hair did have a terrible time
getting under control, and given that he probably wouldn't care
about any sort of product to apply in his hair if he can't even
be bothered to brush, then the chances of it actually getting in
control were pretty slim. "It is all about being presentable you
know..." she paused as she watched him continue to brush, no
matter what he did, there was always a stubborn bit that stuck
out. Giving a little sigh she said, "Oh well, at least it
doesn't look as much like a tangled mess anymore. You wouldn't
want your hair to mat to your head after all, that would be a
misery." Those cowlicks were really starting to get to her, and
the longer she looked at them, the more she wanted to do
something about them.
"Bastion, did you want a mirror? You are just brushing
helter-skelter and..." letting out a short huff she reached for
her own brush and said, "gah, here, I'll get it for you. If you
actually -did- brush your mane, it wouldn't be in this kind of
state in the first place." She sat herself down behind him and
began to vigorously comb and brush, doing her best to work out
what knots and misplaced pieces of hair there were, "Next time,
try brushing it before you let your hair dry. It would look like
you were hit by a stray lightning bolt if you don't brush it
early enough."

"Well, I thought I was already presentable," Bastion mumbled in
response to Blossom, knowing it would do no good. Whenever she
got to nagging like this, there was just no stopping her. He
guessed she got it from her mother, but he had no way of knowing
for sure, and he knew that if he asked she'd only get offended.
Aaaaand then there she went, saying she'd just brush it for him.
He opened his mouth to protest, but once again knew it would be
pointless as she was already behind him, combing away at his
mane.
A little embarrassed, Bastion slowly glanced around the barracks
with his ears pinned back and a slight blush coloring his cheeks
to see if anypony else noticed what was going on. For the most
part, he seemed to be fairly safe, but he wasn't certain. All he
could really do was just sit there and wince every so often as
Blossom worked. However, even after she was finished, the
cowlicks still refused to cooperate and remained pointed in
whatever direction they wanted. "You tell me that every time,
and I still don't do it. Just doesn't seem really worth it,
especially since most of the time my helmet covers my mane
anyway." He grumbled after that and pushed himself up, turning
back just enough so he could look at Blossom. "We'll be here all
day if we keep fussing over my hair like this. Let's go eat, if
you're really that hungry."

Dropping the brush beside her, Blossom groaned, finally
admitting defeat to the rat's nest that was Bastion's mane.
"Uuuughh... fine. We will have to see how we can fix this little
mess on your head later." She put both brushes back in their
respective footlockers and got up off of the bunk, waiting for
Bastion to get up before following him out the front of the
barracks. It was a sort of instinct for her to walk behind him,
what with him usually being in the front with a shield. Even
without armour and weapons, that instinct to get behind him
still persisted. She probably wouldn't be able to get used to
being a civilian anymore anyway, as she was a guard now, and
this kind of behavior is programmed so deep it will most likely
never be removed even by old age.
Accompanying him down the street, looking much better now that
they had a chance to shower and freshen up, Blossom started
looking around the streets, looking at all the ponies that
wandered by before saying, "Now that I'm not bearing the full
force of the sun in a suit of heavy armour, this is actually
kind of a nice day. Where do you usually go to do your kind of
thinking?"

Without thinking twice about it, Bastion began to lead the way
through Canterlot, his steps subconsciously a kind of march as
he moved through the streets towards their favorite cafe. Just
as Blossom's did, Bastion's gaze swept around him as he moved,
just as vigilant as he would be if he were on the job thanks to
the habit being ingrained in him so much. His ears swiveled back
when Blossom began speaking, and he glanced back to her
momentarily before looking forward again. Communication like
this was a little odd, but it was all they had since no matter
what, Blossom would just wind up falling in line behind him
again.
"I usually go to the plaza on the opposite side of Canterlot
from the train station. It's pretty large, and so are the
buildings there. So there's plenty of room to walk and explore.
Plus, there's the wall that's there around the plaza. It's got
one of the best views in the city, in my opinion. Only thing
it's beaten by is a view from up there near the zeppelin.
There's also the park that's near the plaza. That's usually a
fairly decent place to go as well. Well, I've shown you the park
before. You should know about that place. But... I don't
remember, have I asked before if you had any favorite places to
go here?"
