Thunder, liking what he was hearing, went from nearly tossing
the bottle around in his hooves the holding it with both as
though it were a newly discovered treasure. "Ooooooooh!" His
eyes sparkled from the beauty of all the devious ideas running
through his mind. "Stains anything bright red for two weeks...
Ma-"
"No." Burn cut him off before he could get anywhere, the pegasus
giving a "hmph" and glaring at the more serious guard like a
child being denied a toy. Plopping down onto his rump and
grumbling, Thunder's eyes lost their sparkle... but gained a
slightly evil shade, the stallion now having his eyes shift
between the unicorn and the dye.
"The new books?" Mana asked, eagerly awaiting the mare to
continue with what she had been saying with his grin still
strong. It was starting to become clear to him that Thunder's
tum tum troubles had quite possibly allowed the unicorn to
stumble upon a shop he hoped to frequent often in the future for
his studies. "Please tell me your next words were going to be
about how you're expecting a few copies of Foxtail's Four
Flavors?"

Thyme gives Thunder a flat stare. This isn't the first time
somepony had wanted to use her dyes for some prank, though
usually it was far younger ponies who would want to do such a
thing. Then again, Thunder had been acting like a little foal
not three minutes ago... Well, it isn't her business what ponies
do with her potions, and Mana seems like he's good at keeping
the other guard under control. Her expression turning just a
touch more enthusiastic, she turns back to Mana. "I'll be
getting a few of those, yes. And some copies of the most recent
Alchemical Almanac, which actually has useful information for
once." She pauses for a few moments to think, recalling
everything she'd ordered. "Have you heard of Wandering Ivy? I'm
getting a few of her newest book too." The green mare slides
Mana's books over to herself, checking them before pushing them
back. "Will that be everything?"

"Fantastic! Do you think I could reserve a copy of Flavors for
myself before they get here?" Mana asked, face then taking on an
expression of disbelief at the apparant usefulness of the new
Almanac. "You're kidding. You mean they've moved on from
explaining how 'sugar can make water taste sugary while salt has
its own unique effect', and decided to step up their game? I'll
believe it when I see it for myself." He said with a short
laugh.
"What's this green?" Thunders voice was heard again, hin now
holding up an oddly shaped bottle full of a more murky liquid
from further back by the shelves. Mana briefly let his eyes find
the stallion, Thunder then slapping on an innocent smile with
innocent eyes as he tried to hide something behind his back with
a hoof, him hoping the new green potion would distract enough.
"Wandering Ivy..." Mana turned back to the mare, running the
name mentioned through his brain and coming up with few results,
"I don't believe I have... Is she more obscure, a newer name, or
have I simply been missing out?-"
"Ha! This ones pink..."
"And, yes, I believe that should be everything for me..." Mana
replied, glancing again back towards his guard partner, now
distracting himself with giggling at the brighter colored
potions, before gushing his voice down to a more conspiratorial
volume, "unless... You can do me a favor and whip something
special up for me? Have you ever made the Caught Tongue potion
before?"

Thyme nods at Mana's question. "You can, they'll be coming in
next weekend." She says, and the corners of her mouth turn up
into a small smile. "The old manager retired, and the new one
says he wants to make it into "the kind of respectable guide it
always should have been". It's already much better." Her eyes
turn to the other guard, briefly, at his interruption, but she's
not especially concerned with his fooling around. There's
nothing he could get into that was really dangerous, and if he
broke something, well... that'd just be more bits for her.
"She's new, yes." The green mare confirms as she brings her gaze
back to Mana. "Her book mainly focuses on more exotic
ingredients and what they can do, even things only found in the
Everfree." Thyme looks the stack of books over again, making
sure she got the prices right. "That's seventy-five bits." She
informs him, and nods at his question about a special order. "A
couple times." She says, her own voice lowering to match his.
"That will be..." The alchemist pauses for a moment to do some
quick mental math. "Thirty-eight bits, when you pick it up. It
should be ready in a couple days."

"Thirty eight?" Mana echoed with a wince, gaze falling to the
books he was purchasing as his magic got to work on separating
the bits from his pouch. A tad pricey just to set up a prank,
but he figured it was a special order with some weird
ingredients involved... and the look on Thunder's face when it
happens would probably be worth every digit. "Eh..." He sounded
unsure for a few moments more, a pile of money accumulating on
the counter in a steady stream of coins from his bit pouch until
it was organized into a few neat stacks, "... Alright, put me
down for a pick up in a few days." Glancing back towards
Thunder... who was just staring at the floor and humming now for
some reason, Mana's eyes turned a slight hue of devious
themselves before quickly retaking their usual discipline.
Waiting for the transaction to be completed, Mama decided to get
a few more details on this new author he'd just been informed
of. "So, 'Wandering Ivy', did you have any of her older books
already in stock too? I may have skimmed over them while picking
out the members of my pile there. You say she focuses on
ingredients such as those native to the Everfree, so would you
happen to know if she's found an easy and cheap way to brew up
an effective cure for Poison Joke? Me and him would probably get
a lot of use out of it."

Thyme simply nods in confirmation at Mana's pained look. She
slides a notebook down the counter to herself, writing down his
order, then takes the bits the stallion had set out with a
"Thank you." And deposits them in the register. She takes a
glance at Thunder herself, and is relieved to see he's stopped
messing around for the moment. "I do, though only a few copies.
It's not a very popular one." She says, turning her gaze to the
shelf at the far end of the room and squinting a bit to see if
there's a copy there. Though it's hard to tell, she doesn't
think there's one on there. Must have forgot to replace it last
time it was bought. She thinks she has a couple copies in the
back, though. "It's called Supernaturals: Natural Remedies and
Cure-Alls That Are Simply Super. It does have a poison joke
remedy. I think I have some copies in the back, if you'd like to
get one of those too?"

Mana glances back towards the shelves he'd recently been
scanning not long before when Thyme does, the unicorn trying to
recall if he'd seen the name mentioned when he'd collected his
small stack of books. Thunder, being a slightly in Mana's
peripheral, appeared to now be rolling a flask of some kind of
purple and watery liquid in small circles, the guard watching
the flask beneath his hoof with a bored expression. Turning back
to the mare, Mana thought for a few moments on the idea of
buying a copy of Wandering Ivy's book... On one hoof, he'd
already spent a good pile of money on his recent purchases
already... On the other hoof, having a book he could turn to at
all times for whenever Thunder manages to find a certain blue
flower again would probably be worth the expenditure. "How much
would that run me?" He asked, needing a price before deciding.
Thunder, with some kind of flash of inspiration, shot back up to
his hooves, did an about face where he was then started messing
about with the potions on display, the containers clanking and
tapping against each other as he got to work on some new project
born out of his boredom. Mana's ear twitched at the new noise,
him shooting Thunder a look the Pegasus didn't see. "If you
break anything I'm not going to pay for it."
"Eh." Was all he got in response, Thunder just waving a hoof as
he kept to his... whatever he was doing...

"It would be fifteen bits." Thyme answers, though her attention
is back on Thunder. She really hopes he's been putting
everything back where he found it. Reshelving everything
wouldn't take long, and wouldn't be especially hard, but it
would be taking time that could be better spent working on new
potions or something. Turning back to Mana, she can't help but
wonder what kind of things they do that would involve regular
contact with poison joke. "I can make the cure, if you'd rather
not bother having to do it yourself."

Mana took a moment to consider the mares offer. Having the
alchemist make the cure for him would obviously be an easier and
sure way of having a well made and ready dose of the cure
without the chance of wasting money on ingredients as he himself
attempted to practice making it himself, but there was a saying
he heard while spending some time in the Gryphon Kingdom once
about he difference between teaching someone to fish and only
giving them a fish. "No thanks, I would probably procrastinate
learning the recipe and method of brewing the cure myself in
favor of focusing on other endeavors should I have some of it on
hoof from the get go. I'll just take the book, please." Again,
his magic separated bit from pouch as fifteen coins floated down
to the counter, Mana then looking back at his partner to see if
he's caused some kind of large scale destruction yet. Thunder
was... making a... wall... no... a "fort" out of... bottles by
stacking and balancing them ok top of each other and... wha...?

Thyme nods and takes the bits Mana hoofs over. She'd been hoping
she'd get a return customer out of this, if he'd decided to get
the poison joke cure from her, but this was only mildly
disappointing. "I'll be back in a moment." She says, and turns
to roll into the back room. She stops when she catches sight of
what Thunder is up to now, though, and just stares for a moment.
And now he was building a castle out of bottles. No doubt
scooped from the shelves with no regard for where they came from
or putting them back. "You had better put all of those back when
you're done." She says, warning in her voice and a very
displeased look in her eye. That was more than just a few
bottles, and would take much longer to put back where they
belonged, to make no mention of the time she'd have to waste if
he broke them... The green unicorn fixes Thunder with a
momentary glare, then wheels out of the room. She looks around.
The books should be right... there, next to the sage. She takes
one and quickly returns to the counter, setting it down in front
of the more mature of the two guards. "Here you are. Anything
else?"
