A Well-Earned Rest

When you were in a profession as dangerous and disturbing as
Penumbra's, it was a good idea to take long holidays when you
could, for the sake of both your physical and mental health.
Insidious Penumbra knew this lesson well, and so, when he had
saved up enough bits from his.. adventures, he decided to invest
them in a lengthy stay in a cosy little town, which he had
picked at random from a travel guide he found a while back.
Ponyville seemed like as good a place as any to spend some time
relaxing and taking it easy, and so, moving by cover of night in
order to avoid startling too many ponies with his odd appearance
and apparel, the dark-green stallion made his way into town.
His pace was slightly slow, hampered as he was by the bulging
backpack that he had slung over his back, whilst a raven perched
upon his shoulder and eyed the simple, rustic looking town with
a surprising level of intelligence in its dark little eyes.
It was definitely calm enough, at least at night, the streets
seeming rather barren and unpopulated. Unfortunately, this meant
there was nopony around for him to ask for directions to an inn
of some sort. This in turn meant that, if he didn't find
someplace to stay within a few hours of walking about, he'd
probably have to rough it again, outside town, and head back in
the morning to find somewhere to stay whilst on vacation.
Since the idea of sleeping outside of town wouldn't exactly be a
great start to his vacation in Ponyville, the dark olive green
unicorn decided to persevere, his robes flapping in the cool
night breeze, as he walked onwards in search of any signs of
life about the town.
