Insidious listened interestedly as Ruby explained a little more
about her divination skills, and how they operated, the dark
green stallion chuckling a little at the faded magenta mare's
sombre tone, and the contrast between her humorous words and the
       seriousness of her voice.
Pondering her last statement for a moment, Insidious nodded,
before looking up and smiling determinedly, expression eager,
the green stallion leading forward just a little to ask his
question, face set in a grin of anticipation.
"Miss Ruby, please tell me what my future holds, in relation to
my holiday in Ponyville, and how that will relate to the
creature that attacked you." The dark green stallion asked,
voice eager and just a little dramatic as he got into the spirit
of things, clearly eager to hear about whether or not he would
end up using his holiday to help rid Ponyville of some kind of
evil presence, although he didn't actually seem unhappy with the
       idea.

       Re: After Hours
By: Ruby Fortuna Date: March 14, 2014, 3:21 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
When she finished shuffling, Ruby drew the top card, exhaling as
she set it face up. The picture on the card depicted a nameless
grey pony sitting at a grindstone, sharpening a sword. All
around and integrated within the picture, one can make out eight
different pentacles. "The Eight of Pentacles." Ruby breathed,
"This position represents your present, and this particular card
represents a skill, be it in a particular trade or in this case,
moreso a preparation to perform said skill, perhaps your...
ghost chasing occupation?" She furrowed her brow before
       continuing.
The next card she drew was placed across the previous card,
making a cross of the two of them. The picture of the card
depicted a young stallion, merrily walking with a rose in his
teeth and a small bundle of possessions over his back. A small
white dog followed him playfully, and the sun was shown behind
him, glowing brightly over the merry scene of the stallion
unknowingly walking towards the brink of a precipice. "The Fool.
How interesting..." she smirked to herself as she said, "This
position represents the challenge that you face, and The Fool...
well, he is an interesting beast. He represents an obscured
sense of self-vision, and it warns of significant change coming.
See how foolishly he continues on with his path, oblivious of
the tragedy about to befall him? A sudden change will happen,
and it will be a result of taking action where circumstances are
       unknown."
The next card was placed to the left of this little cross,
turned face up to show four staves in the ground, a netting of
intertwined fruits held up between them. "The Four of Wands.
This position represents your past, particularly in relation to
how the problem may have come about, and this particular card
represents hard work with good results. Given the nature of The
Fool, I am inclined to interpret that perhaps your hard work has
made you a little confident in your abilities. Not that
confidence is a detriment to you, but too much leads to reckless
decisions such as..." she gestured back to the card whose
picture showed the unknowing stallion doomed to literally fall
to his path, letting that sink in before adding, "... well, just
don't get ahead of the path you tread; before you know it, it
       may stop existing!"
She giggled to herself in a smug and dark manner before drawing
the fourth card, placing it on the opposite side of the cross
from the third card. The card showed a mare and a stallion,
standing across from each other and looking each other in the
eyes, both holding a cup. Between them, wings and snakes spiral
up a rod, forming a Caduceus. "The Two of Cups." The smug look
disappeared, taking on a somewhat more disappointed look, “This
position is to determine what happens over the course of the
next few weeks or even months, and is most definitely not the
final outcome. The Two of Cups, if you are familiar with tarot
cards, is a minor arcana equivalent of the trump card The
Lovers. This card suggests that you will look for connections in
your life, particularly one on one connections. What comes from
that, I’m certain you can figure that out for yourself. Look at
how they just stare at each other. Eugh.” She shuddered a
       little.
The next card was drawn, being placed above the cross this time.
This one depicted a business-like earth pony in noble clothing
sitting on a black throne with golden embellishments. “King of
Pentacles. This position represents what you will strive to
become consciously, and The King of Pentacles represents a taste
for sensual delights and earthly gifts. He has a great knowledge
of both social and practical, though he does tend to have a
large ego.” She glanced up at Nickels and shook her head,
muttering under her breath, “... eeyup.”
The next card was placed on the bottom of the arrangement,
across from the previous one. This card depicted three ponies
standing around with cups raised in the air, jovial and merry.
If there was one notable feature of this card, it was a
surprising lack of depth and background. “Three of Cups. This
position represents the subconscious drive behind your question,
and this card suggest an inner passion for caring and a sense of
community, but look at how these… -idiots-... party! So
unprofessional! So un-serious! Very immature! My word, Nickels,
I certainly hope you are not a drunkard when dealing with the
       supernatural.”
The next card was drawn to the side, starting its own little
place to the right of the entire arrangement. This card depicted
a blindfolded mare, sitting with her back to a lake with two
swords balanced over her shoulders. “Two of Swords. Now we get
to the point, no more dilly-dallying around. This position
represents immediate advice, and this is a card of definite
meditation and looking inwards. This mare wields power within
her two swords, but chooses not to direct them blindly without
       careful consideration.”
The next three cards were drawn in quick succession, each going
above the other above the Two of Swords. The next card depicted
a stallion lying on the ground, ten different swords stuck in
his body as he lay bleeding. “Ten of Swords.” Ruby winced a
little as she continued, “This position represents external
influences, things that are out of your control. These will
affect the outcome significantly, and judging by how this card
is, it is easy to see that anguish, strife, misery and
destruction will influence you, but it will come to pass…
       hopefully.”
The next card was a very familiar card, as it had made itself
known in Lamplight’s reading as well. “XIII, Death. This
position represents your hopes and your fears, one or the other,
you’d be surprised how closely those two can be intertwined.
Death represents a loss, sadness, and conclusion, but
alternatively, it could mean finishing up, and transition to a
new state. Now isn’t this ambiguous; which would be your hopes
and which would be your fears?”
The last card depicted a yellow mare sitting on a red throne,
holding a sunflower. “[i]The Queen of Wands. This position
represents the final outcome, and this queen represents burning
passion. Fire is a major theme in this card, as well as
spontaneity, directness, and independence, so long as you come
to terms with accepting those who are your polar opposite. It is
a bit of a stretch to come up with a reasonable conclusion with
this card, but perhaps these traits will come unto you, or onto
one that you help or care about.”
Ruby let the cards sit for a while before looking back at
Nickels, “So… there’s your reading. Any questions before I’m off
       to bed?”
