'Applejack'. Heh. Appropriate name. Well, working for the pony
who made the cider he was hoping to try seemed like an easy
solution to his "not being able to buy it" problem, and Darrus
had worked on a farm before for, like, a couple hours by moving
some hay around for a guy. How hard could this other farm be to
manage? He'd need to remember to ask Honey for directions there
later. "Non-alcoholic" cider, Hm? Well... If its as famous as
its supposes to be, then it should at least still taste good and
       be worth a try.
The tavern being given as his second option for hearing about
available work was also appealing, mostly because taverns were
usually a first stop for the stallion whenever he stopped
anywhere. His earlier questions on where to get a drink were
actually, in fact, an attempt to learn where the tavern was
anyway, so having another excuse to find it made this all the
       more easy.
"Yeah..." He said in response to the "fun" focused portion of
the mares answer, hin assuming that there was plenty of things
he loved to do that she would probably utterly hate with a
burning passion. From how they were towards each other only
minutes before, he was surprised she was even still here, even
more so that she wanted to help him now. "I doubt you'd enjoy a
nice game of 'break the bottle' to see who's the best shot...
Probably would lose though, anyway so..." He finished his
sentence with a playfully confident and competitive smile,
trying to regain his earlier mood.
"And I have heard of the Everfree. Would be surprised if there
was a pony out there who hadn't. Big, dark, scary and full of
monsters is what I hear. Maybe we could both go exploring
together and get into a fight with a hydra later?" He chuckled,
wings now carrying him in a hover, "I doubt I have the herbal
knowledge to identify Amy valuable plants, but if there's a map
with a big X on it leading to treasure you just happen to have
lying around I wouldn't mind checking the forest out. Anyway, we
should probably start with the tavern. I can use that place as a
base of sorts for my time here." Flying over the edge of the
roof then dropping back down to the street below, Darrus landed
with a small puff of dust as hos wings buffeted the ground, him
then looking back up to Honey as he waited for the mare to join
       him then lead the way.

As Darrus flew down to ground level, Honey turned to begin
hopping down from the roof, then onto the roof of a section of
the first story that was extended a little bit out from the rest
of the house, then onto the ground, landing with a roll that
ended with her back on her hooves to absorb the impact of the
landing. She shook the dirt off of her coat as she walked over
to join Darrus before pointing down the street. "I have an idea
of how we can find a tavern easily. This way," she told him
before walking in the direction she pointed.
"If this game of 'break the bottle' requires precision aiming as
you are suggesting, then you do not wish to play with me. I have
been trained to throw kunai both with and without magic. It
would be unfair to you. Same thing for a hydra. It would be
unnecessary to go out and attack one for no good reason, but
even if we did, what would you do to it?"

Would be unfair to him? Hehe... Darrus had heard all that talk
before. Everypony assuming their better and claiming "I
practiced" as being their assurance that he stood no chance
against them in terms of accuracy. Was always enough to make the
Pegasus smile. Said Pegasus only gave a side glance towards the
mare as he followed alongside !Honey, face appearing completely
confidant and unphased by the mares claims of skill. He was just
hoping now that she would be a good sport when it was over...
"Well see." Was all he said in response, deciding to leave
everything as a surprise instead of giving it away early. "As
for the hydra, we could just mess around with it. You know, poke
it with a stick and stuff, or buzz around like a couple of
mosquitoes." He clearly wasn't being serious, him more adding to
this line of conversation as a way to hopefully loosen things up
further and pass the time. "Well, I could buzz, you can just
kind of scrabble around on the forest floor making loud noises."

Honey stared over at Darrus for a few seconds after his plans of
disturbing the hydra, just looking at him with a half-lidded
expression of apathy at the last thing he said. "I realize you
know nothing of Samareais, but scrabbling around? Loud noises?
Truly? The Samareai are graceful, not some clumsy fools bumbling
about like children playing with sticks for swords. If it ever
came down to it, you would be unable to find me were I to need
to remain hidden. And before you say anything, yes; I do realize
you were joking. Still, there are some lines that do not need
crossing. Which you would say are many, I am sure. So why do you
travel so? Surely your special talent is not wandering?"

So, she knew he was joking but decided to explain how she
would... still be quiet and... he meant shed be purposefully
making loud noises and... He would need to make a mental note to
stop trying to casually joke around with this one...
Darrus' eyes lazily drifted away from the mare and off to the
side as she spoke, him now needing to try and listen to the mare
explain her abilities because... reasons. Maybe she just liked
talking about how she believed herself to be really skilled and
capable? Shed already mentioned her training and such a few more
times than once, so... maybe she just liked to talk about
herself? Meh. Darrus knew how to be sneaky too. Didn't mean he
wanted to announce it to the world though. Felt a little bit
like you would be defeating the purpose of "stealth" if
everypony knew you snuck around anyway.
Trying to just let that go by with no comment as he assumed it
would lead nowhere either way, Darrus waited for her to be
finished before replying. "Right, well, anyway... I travel cause
its just kind of what I do these days. It's not my talent but
I've been doing it for quite a long while now. No big stories or
any particularly interesting reasons behind it. I just... go
where my hooves and wings take me, you know?
"What about you? What do you do here in town aside from foll-"
No, Darrus, no joking allowed around her. Bad...

"When I am not following strangers who alarm me?" Honey asked,
glancing over to Darrus as they walked. "I often enjoy long
walks on the beach, soothing furious beasts with my music, and
scaring unsuspecting ponies from the shadows. Also, I may or may
not put on a costume at night to fight crime," she responded
dryly, her gaze moving forward again as she continued. "I
believe my father travelled for some time before he met my
mother for similar reasons. 'To see the world', he says. If that
isn't your talent, then what is?"
Then, there it was. Turning a corner, the shophouse that was
both her mother and father's workspace, plus the building she'd
called home for most of her life, came into view. The sign that
hung over the front of the shop had a picture of both a spool of
thread and an anvil, accompanied by the words 'S&P; Tailoring &
Blacksmithing'. The dutiful, rhythmic ring of a hammer on metal
sounded clearly through the air as they turned onto this street,
causing Honey's pace to increase just a little bit.

Okay, so, now Darrus was just getting more confused. It seemed
like the things she was saying were jokes or exaggerations of
some kind, but given her earlier reactions to jokes and her
still constant dry method of delivery, Darrus was actually
worried she may be serious in what she was saying and that,
aside from recognising her as being weird for dressing up every
night, laughing may legitimately offend her.
He didn't smile or show any signs of playing along with what she
said, instead just looking confused as they continued down the
street and she moved on to again ask about his talent. He was
distracted by his thoughts however and was delayed in answering
up until the pairs pace began to pick up for... some reason...
He was only following Honey's lead when it came to how fast they
were going, so.... The stallion could hear the easily
identifiable sound of a hammer striking metal as they hurried
along, the pegasus deciding to make up a phobia to give the mare
in an attempt to make sense of this, it being a fear of
blacksmiths. The alternative would be that she just didn't want
to be around him for much longer or something.
"Uh... What's the rush?" He asked, not being able to keep his
curiosity as to why Dew here apparently needed to vacate the
       area in a timely manner.

Honey glanced over to Darrus as he questioned her increased
speed, earning a slight raised brow in response. "My house is
just up ahead. You hear that blacksmith working? That is either
my father or his apprentice. Somepony there will be able to tell
me where a tavern is so we can go there. Besides, are you not
excited to be rid of my presence, Darrus?" she asked as she
stopped by the doorway to the house with the tailor and
blacksmith sign above the door. "Wait here; this should not take
very long," she said before turning to walk inside to what
seemed like an almost pitch black room, despite it being the
middle of the day. Honey looked to simply meld into the shadows
the moment she stepped inside them, and before the door shut
       behind her.
Only a minute or two later, Honey stepped back outside and
motioned for him to follow. "Alright, let us go. We should get
there shortly. So... Like I asked a moment ago, if wandering is
not your special talent, what is?"

Maybe, if only due to her confusing him. Darrus just shrugged
and walked off to the side as Honey went to go see her parents
for directions, him sitting down and lightly pawing at some
loose gravel without watching her. When she returned, Darrus
followed without asking any questions or making any comment, him
briefly wondering how she explained "there's a strange stallion
outside who wants me to show him to the tavern" to her parents.
Well, she seemed pretty tenacious when it came to learning his
special talent. But, really, her question just made hin start
thinking about something else. "I wonder what a 'wandering'
cutie mark would look like..." He murmured aloud as he thought,
"wandering implies no set destination, so a map wouldn't make
much sense as the pony wouldn't need directions... Hmm... And
then there's the question as to how somepony can be better at
wandering than others. Do they just... walk around... better?"

Well, he was obviously not going to answer her, so pursuing that
question was just going to be a waste of time; and if he wasn't
going to respect her by answering a simple question--even just
by saying he didn't want to answer--then she wasn't going to
waste more of her breath on him. Turning her attention forward
again, she remained silent as they walked, barely paying the
stallion any mind as she lead him towards his destination. A few
minutes later, the tavern she'd been directed to came into sight
and she stopped right in front of it. "There is your tavern.
Enjoy. Anything else?" she asked again, her voice as curt as it
had been when they'd first met.
