"Well, it beats having to dress fancy, huh? Cool to hear you
have some connections at least, Sero." Lapis replied, grinning,
       clearly still a little impressed.
"Heh, you think the fine upperclass'holes of Canterlot will have
a problem with us not getting dressed up? Good. Doesn't effect
me if they get their tails in a twist, in fact, it'd probably be
kinda funny." The ultramarine mare commented, chuckling a
       little, before frowning thoughtfully.
"So, while this was great and all, want to head back to my cart
to work on the gem, do some homework, and then see about getting
some ice-cream?" She asked, standing as she did so, and moving
as if to approach the counter and pay for their meals.

Sero again didn't look like his "connections" were anything
overly amazing, slightly waving his hoof dismissively at the
mares reply though still with a smile. "Sure," he then went on
to say, standing up as Lapis did, "the homework part will
require me to take a detour to my place to pick up the right
journals, though, as I don't have them on me right now. Maybe
while I'm off fetching those you can get the gem ready for the
Durilli? Also," he continued, reaching into his saddle bag for
his bit pouch so as to pay for his half of the meal, "how much
were those cannellonis? I only glanced over the menu when we got
them and don't really remember the prices very well."

"Sounds like a plan, Sero." Lapis commented, simply, ending
their conversation as she moved to pay, only to stop for a
       moment as he spoke up.
"Ah, put your bit-pouch away, Sero. I've got this. You did win
our game, after all, yours was the more impressive object." The
ultramarine mare spoke up as the stallion tried to pay for his
       own meal, chuckling a little.

"Mmm, perhaps," Sero admitted, a slight hint of pride in his
voice as he chuckled lightly and admitted to the Durilli being
rather impressive, "but, unless you've forgotten, we did agree
that all expenses should be split down the middle should we work
together on this, and we did indeed talk business during this
dinner so I think this qualifies as an expense. I insist on
paying my fair share at least, partner."

"Heh, a fair point well argued, Sero. Fine by me, but I'm paying
for the ice-cream." Lapis spoke up, grinning at Sero's own proud
grin, and his argument, as she moved past him to pay for her
       half of the meal.

"It's a deal." Sero agreed to the promise of free ice cream for
him in the future. Following the mare over to the counter to pay
for their food, the unicorn, not having been given an answer to
his question, simply waited for Lapis to count out her half of
the payment before matching it with his own. "So," he said,
turning towards the exit now, "I'll go get those journals and
meet you at your cart. How long do you think breaking off a
piece of that ruby will take?"

Lapis' grinned widened a little as Sero joined her at the
counter to pay for his half, and as he moved towards the exit,
she followed, sticking by his side until they reached the doors.
"Yep, seeya then, Sero. And as for the gem.. probably not longer
than a few minutes, depending on how careful I am." Lapis
replied, waving a hoof vaguely in response to his question, and
then waving her hoof in goodbye, as she stepped out of the
restaurant and began to walk back to her cart, wide grin still
on her pretty, albeit scarred, face.

Waving a hoof of his own to return the mares farewell with a
smile, Sero started off in the opposite direction, happy to hear
how the ruby would most likely be ready by the time he reached
her cart. Running through the very very long list of journals he
kept in his mind, the white unicorn began to pick out which ones
would be best to lend to the mare for study, his most recent
ones needing to be skimmed first before being passed off. It may
take Lapis only a few minutes to ready the gem, but it may take
a few more for Sero to figure out which books were best to give.
