Did she really enjoy the dancing enough to ask him for another?
Well...of course she did, he could tell, but...it hardly seems
real to him. For such a long time he's had to deal with anypony
meeting him being either pitying and mean towards him or just
too uncomfortable around him to really pay him much mind. It's
so refreshing to meet somepony outside of his family who
actually talks to him and treats him like a pony and not an
embarrassment.
Thinking of which, where is Breezy? She said she would come.
Was she here and couldn't find him? Did she need to do
something else? Did she...did she not like him? It eats at his
mind a little bit, but he decides it couldn't be too serious.
Her emotions hadn't seemed forced or anything to him at the
time. So he decides not to worry. He nods and stands to rejoin
Misty in dancing, then realizes that he still has his glass in
his hoof. He considers for a moment, then gives another pulse
of echolocation. There, tables. Filled with glasses. It can
probably go there. He picks the glass up telekinetically, then
moves it over in that direction, lowering it when he thinks it's
getting close. It fails to make the clink he expects, though,
so he raises it again and pushes it farther before letting it
down gently. He hears the satisfying impact and wobble of it on
the table, then lets it go.

Jazz tilts her head to the side, a concerned look still on her
face despite Haywire's reassurance. He didn't sound like he was
doing nearly as bad as Clarity, though she wasn't sure of his
estimation of when his hearing would return. Well... if things
like this happened to him often, she supposes he'd know, so she
decides to trust him on that and puts on a friendly smile of her
own. "I'm Jazz." She says, shaking his hoof and raising her
voice more in the hopes that he'll hear her better, though it
draws a couple annoyed glances from nearby ponies. She should
really find a pen and some paper. Maybe there'd be some
backstage? "Are you sure you're okay?" She asks, her face
turning concerned again. "You were right next to it when it
started." The white mare glaces at the stage. "And does it do
that often?"

"Hi, Yass!" Haywire greets incorrectly at the hoof shake, grin
doubling and voice picking up a little to sound more friendly.
Squinting his eyes again as she continued to speak, the inventor
attempted to figure out Jazz's next set of words. "Really, I'm
fine. Like I said, this is no big deal, so no reason to keep
worrying. I might have been right next to it this time, but one
time I was actually inside of it when it decided to cooperate.
That was fun, let me tell you. Thanks for asking though! I
appreciate your concern." Glancing back at the table behind him,
Haywire wondered briefly if there were any other snacks that
could possibly compare to his most recently parted friends
before turning back to the nice mare. "Does it do it often? Why,
I would hope so! It's built to be loud! And the filly who was
organizing all this really wanted it to have good amplification,
so I made a few adjustments before I brought it out here to make
sure it could deliver. How would you say I did? Think Manehatten
has a few magic cart alarms going off right now?"

Jazz giggles as Haywire doesn't get her name quite right, and
nods, accepting his reassurance. At least he really did seem
like he was going to be fine. Catching the green stallion's
brief, longing glance at the snack table, she giggles again and
brings her magic to life, grabbing a couple peanut butter bars
and levitating them over to them. She presents one to Haywire
and takes a bite of the other. "Probably, though I think the
ponies down in Las Pegasus didn't hear it."

Noticing the glow of her horn, Haywire put two and two together
and guessed that the mare was using her magic for something,
Haywire curiously glanced around in search of any sign of what
she may be up to. When she brought the peanut butter bars into
view... well... she may as well have been hoofing over a canteen
of water to a dehydrated pony in the desert. Eyes widening, and
teeth gleaming in his massive grin, Haywire happily snatched up
the offered bar as though it were a bar of gold and he was a
greedy miser, him immediately taking a big bite then gnawing on
the remainder for a few seconds before hearing, or rather
"reading" with a few glances, her claim that Las Pegasus had
been unable to hear his invention.
... They will... Oh, yes... They will... Surely it was the
removal of the hyper-lux quantosphere and dynamo revolvus during
the last minute "repairs" he'd been performing on his invention
up on stage just before it started working for him and tried to
take his sense of hearing. Ha! If only it were so simple! But
the machine had underestimated the inventors durability, his
ears requiring a lot more than simple loud noises to suffer any
permanent damage. Once the dance was over, he'd take everything
back to his shop then replace all the parts he'd removed,
bolstering the machines strength back to full then playing a
nice record for Las Pegasus... and possibly demolish the
buildings closest to his workshop... eh, those were abandoned by
now anyway... but he'd double check just to make sure, Haywire
hating the idea of maybe overlooking somepony and getting them
hurt...
"Igh need do mak om mow ayushments den..." He replied, now
seeming to make a habit of speaking with his mouth full as he
took a brief break from his attempt to devour the peanut butter
bar whole and instead finish the initial bite he'd taken, that
most likely being a wise move, "I wash hobing id woud hab been
oud enuff do ah leash reash dem... Sho," he continued,
swallowing and freeing his speech from being inhibited for the
moment, "what are you doing around here? Are you a parent or
just helping out or what?" Question delivered, the small green
stallion went back to his gnawing on his peanut butter bar, a
happy smile always present while his stuffed cheeks kept his
eyes slightly squinted.

The next song is indeed faster, if not significantly, and Clair
spends the first half of it trying to figure out, to Misty's
patient instructions, just where to put his hooves. It's
relatively simple, but it involves him putting his hooves out
into the unknown, which doesn't sit well with him. So she
further modifies their modified dance to include just some easy
sidesteps, some slow spins, and a clap, because why not? Clair
does fall down twice during it, but this time they're dancing
farther away from the main group, and draw less laughs than just
by his previous attempts.
"What did I tell you, Clairdude? You have the potential to be
the best dancer in Equestria if you wanted," Clair hears her say
as she gives him a nuzzle, beginning to lead him off in some
direction that he doesn't remember, their spinning having
disoriented him enough that he couldn't quite tell. "I mean,
seriously, you're better than me. Oh, hold that thought. I
have got to go see that. Hey, Mrs. Jay," he hears her say as
she pushes him forward, and Clair reaches up to brush Mom's
familiar shoulder. "I gotta go see something real quick. I
think I'll be right back, mmmkay? And thanks again for dancing
with me, Clairdude!" And with that she trots off, leaving Clair
to just blush against his mother, grinning like a foal who just
got away with stealing a chocolate bar.

Jazz giggles around a mouthful of her own at Haywire's
enthusiastic devouring of the treat she'd offered. His following
semi-coherent statements about the speaker and his desire to
make them even louder elicits even more giggles from the mare.
She about to answer his question when Clairvoyant and Misty walk
over, though Misty leaves again a moment later, off to go check
something-or-other out. She puts a hoof around Clairvoyant's
shoulders and pulls him close. "Hi Clair, did you have fun?" She
asks him before turning her attention back to Haywire. "My
daughter is one of the organizers and I'm here as a chaperon."

Two young ponies approached Jazz at around the same time Haywire
realized how quickly he was going through his peanut butter bar,
the small green stallion rolling his eyes at his failure to
learn anything from his previous heartache and quickly trying to
set rules for himself on how big of bites he allowed himself to
take. Showing extreme self control, and having a very difficult
time doing so, the inventor took a single small bite out of his
remaining treat, then actually chewed it for as long as he was
able in order to prolong the experience for as long as possible.
Not knowing who the two new ponies were, Haywire remained silent
as the young mare dropped off the colt then left to go
investigate something, the stallion giving a peanut buttery
smile at the new arrival then looking back to Jazz as she
answered him.
"Your daughter is one of the organizers, hm? Then you would
probably know what was going on... Is there some kind of weird
theme for this party I don't know about? Like... involving
silence or something? I keep seeing ponies covering their ears,
but I haven't been able to figure out why so far since I'm
having trouble hearing myself. Am I just missing something?"

Clair nods against his Mom's chest, staring forward while his
ears do a peculiar little dance and keep him posted with the
conversation and everything else happening nearby. {I did.
Mistee's funny and told a joke I think you'd like.} he taps out
against her. {Who are you talking to? Is he a new friend too?
Why can't he hear well?}

Jazz lets out a full on laugh this time. "No, there's no theme."
She says, and motions to the stage where the band is just
finishing up their song. "The band that was on was just
terrible. You're lucky you didn't have to hear them." She
glances at the stage again, not sure if there was another band
up next or if it was her turn already. "You actually met my
daughter, she was the one who was talking to you about the sound
system." She gives Clairvoyant a squeeze, glad he had fun. "This
is Haywire, he's the one who set up the speaker. He was next to
it, like Clarity."
