Jazz sweeps her eyes over the gathering ponies, keeping an eye
out for any sign of trouble. Not that she's really expecting
any, but it's her duty as chaperon to keep an eye out. She
briefly eyes Misty as the young mare walks in, but pays her no
mind until she walks over and begins speaking. She smiles at the
enthusiastic pony as Clairvoyant leans against her, pleasantly
surprised at somepony complimenting him. Especially his eyes,
most found them somewhat disturbing. "Hi there." She greets
cheerfully, if not quite to the same degree as Misty. She
glances down at her son. "It's not actually, he's blind." She
hopes this doesn't bother the younger mare, that kind of thing
always got to Clairvoyant. "Don't think I've seen you before,
are you from Clarity's class?"

"Oh snap, I had no idea!" Misty exclaimed as the mare who the
stallion had been leaning against spoke, the "o" coming back to
her lips after she spoke. "Still, for somepony who's blind you
dress super snazzy!" she complimented cheerily, the proclamation
that he was blind not having made her miss a single step. She
continued just as cheerily as before, her attention now turned
to Jazz. "Clarity's class? That's, like, the class that this
dance is for or whatever, right? Naw, I'm not a part of that
class. I just wanted to come along and see what all the
excitement was all about~! Anyway, hi! So, my name is Miiiisty!
And, um, it's been a while since I made some new friends, so I
decided that because of recent events, I could make a new
friend!" She giggled, emphasizing the enunciated word with a
sweep of her hooves. "So what're your names? Are you both in
this class too? Can I... Can I touch your mane~?" She asked
rapidly again, her last question aimed towards Clairvoyant.

Clair has no idea what to make of this rapid-fire voice. It
certainly is cheery, that much is clear, and the strength of the
emotions is getting to him, his smile growing wider by the
second, his face burrowing deeper into Jazz's shoulder.
She...she wants to...touch his mane? He nods uncertainly, his
blush growing brighter. Somewhere in his own gut he feels the
need to run far, far away, but the excitement coming from Misty
overwhelms any thought of acting on that impulse, all he could
do being to hold himself tighter to his adoptive mother.

"Oh, okay." Clarity sets herself down on the stage and fixes
the tools with a glare that made it clear that she would brook
no insubordination from the likes of them, as though fully
believing that one of them might at any moment leap from the
stage and dash for cover. That would be a pretty neat trick.
Well, a mechanical bird, so it might not be impossible.
After a short moment, the intensity of her glare diminishes and
she finds her mind wandering again. "Don't get invited? Well
why on Equestria not? I bet somepony who works with tools would
be a great dancer. Do you have a special somepo-"
She's cut off as a slightly younger mare steps up onto the
stage. "Um, Clarity, we were supposed to start, like, 3 minutes
ago. Can your friend, like, hurry up wi-"
"Shush, Addaline. He's working on it," she interrupts with a
glare. "You just go make sure the band is ready to get up here
when he's finished, got it? Oh, and maybe announce that it's
we'll be starting the dancing in 15 minutes." The mare nods
meekly and trots off, muttering under her breath.

Whatever bits and pieces of what Clarity was saying that Haywire
managed to pick up over the sounds of his work were forgotten
almost immediately at the news of how he was late in delivering
the working sound system he'd promised. Feeling his ears pin
back in guilt, something that couldn't be seen from his place
half way inside his machine, the stallion tried even harder to
think of whatever it was that was holding his progress back. The
problem seemingly having nothing to do with the machines
innards, the Inventor crawled most of the way out of the panel,
it being enough for him to reach and grab the more important
looking items he'd removed, one of them having begun to vibrate
and very slowly move across the stage on its own, it giving the
equivalent to a whimper as it was scooped up in Hay's hoof and
plugged back into place.
Wriggling the rest of the way outside to stand back up, Haywire
only laid the covering for the panel lightly back in place
without screwing it in before taking the microphone back into
his hoof and giving it another: "Test. Testing, one, two..."
With a sigh carrying a sense of irritation, the little green
stallion began to focus on the control panel of the machine,
turning dials and pressing buttons in the hopes of having
something he was doing ellicit some kind of audible response
from the speakers. "I'm sorry, Clarity," he apologized, ears
still pinned a bit, "I just need another minute, two tops, and I
know
I'll figure this out." Another promise, Haywire then moving on
and trying to think of something relevant to talk about in an
attempt to divert attention from his possible impending failure,
the curse he felt he seemed to have whenever one of his
inventions were on a stage now only becoming more believable to
him as he pressed and turned button and dial. "So.. uh.. that..
ice sculpture is nice..."

Jazz giggles along with Misty, the green unicorn's cheerfulness
proving infectious even without the ability to sense emotions.
"I think I might be a little too old to be part of the class.
I'm actually here as a chaperon." She stands up a little
straighter for a moment, taking a mock-serious pose, before
giggling again. "I'm Jazz, and this is my son Clairvoyant. I
hope you enjoy the dance." She glances down at Clairvoyant again
at Misty's rather unusual request, and is a little surprised
when he gives her a nod. She knows he's not entirely comfortable
being here with so many ponies, but she's glad to see him
apparently enjoying meeting Misty so far.

"Oooh, you're chaperoning? Super cool!" Misty said while Jazz
took her pose, before watching with wide eyes as Jazz introduced
herself and her son, earning a toothy grin from Misty when she
was finished... which only spread when Clairvoyant gave his
consent for her to touch his mane. She reached out and gently
brushed her hoof over it, only to giggle at the sensation. "Hee
hee, that feels so cool. And soooooo soft~. I feel like I could
touch it all day!" She looked over to Jazz then, now turning her
attention over to the mother. "So miss--or is it
missus?--Anyway, Lady Jay, is your son shy~?" she asked, her
hoof still running over Clair's mane since he hadn't asked her
to stop yet, or shown any kind of reluctance towards her
continuing. Or, at least, none that she really noticed. "And
Clarity, who's that? Is she, like, the class prez or somethin'
like that? And what's goin' on up on the stage, anyways?"

"Hey, Hay, hey," Clarity jokes to mask her growing irritation.
Nevermind the others, though, her song was what she wanted to
do. That and her dance with Clair, of course. "It's just
sound. Push comes to shove, we can just...cut out...the
singing..." Wow, it sounds worse the more she thinks about it.
What's the point of having a voice like hers if she can't share
it with the world?
Well, no sense in making him feel worse about it. Her ear
twitches in annoyance, but she tries not to let it show.
"Yeah...I certainly think so. I feel like it's kinda similar to
me and Clair. He's my twin brother, off over..." She looks off
into the park to see him and Jazz with some mare she doesn't
recognize. Who's that? And...is she touching his mane?
Seriously, what on Equestria? Nopony does that with her
brother!
...She'd have some words with that pony later. "...there," she
finishes, pointing in his direction.

Jazz raises an eyebrow at Misty as she strokes continues to
stroke Clairvoyant's mane, but he doesn't seem to mind it much,
so she doesn't say anything. "It's Mrs.." She says, taking a
moment to look out across the park to check how things are
going. "He is kinda shy, yeah. Kinda surprised he's letting you
do that." She gestures to the young stallion's mane, then looks
toward the stage. Seeing Clarity looking her way, she gives a
large grin and a wave. "Clarity's his twin sister. And she's not
the class president, she just helped set most of this up." She
turns back to look at Misty and sweeps a hoof around at the
park. "The stage is for the music, this is a dance after all."

Re: Two Left Feet
By: Haywire Date: December 30, 2013, 11:35 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Haywire was almost fully focused on his machine now, what
Clarity was saying about her brother getting a glance in an
attempt to not appear rude as he wrestled with the machine who's
blinky lights were refusing to blink. He.. thought he saw who
she was pointing at, him giving a slightly forced smile to the
filly in acknowledgement before nearly bashing his forehead into
a mass of buttons out of desperation. And he could tell the
thing was enjoying it, just sitting there and giving nothing
while he grew nearer to pulling his mane out, no combination of
button presses seeming to be doing anything to earn any kind of
response from his invention, it just sitting there like a lazy
mass of metal and wires on a slow uneventful Monday.
Haywire sighed, using a hoof to scratch at the back of his mane
before leaning onto the turntable and resting his cheek in his
hoof in apparant defeat. His leg however happened to press up
against a green button that was for some reason almost covered
in tape, it getting just enough pressure to be activated with a
small faint noise finally being heard coming from the speakers
for a moment. Having his ears immediately perk up and angle
towards the nearest speaker, Haywire snatched up his microphone
and bounded up in front of it, giving a very light and
experimental tap of his hoof onto the microphone and recieving a
quiet echo in response. Now grinning widely and shining it back
in Clarity's direction as a wave of success and relief flooded
through his system, the Inventor held the microphone up to again
give a test.
"Te-"
It was probably heard all the way up at the castle. Instantly
the sound system responded, the speakers amplifying the sound of
Haywire's voice with such power that his position in front of
the speaker caused his mane, tail and cheeks to be blown back
from the sheer magnitude of the sound, the stallion being pushed
back into a steep lean before tumbling end over end back and off
of the now shaking stage. The microphone was somehow thrown out
of his hoof and in a completely separate direction, it managing
to, by some miracle, land safely on the turntable and even brush
against a few dials that toned down the volume of the system,
cutting off the noise and saving the stage from some kind of
collapse as the volume was toned down to a much much more
manageable level.
Being blown clear off its edge, Haywire landed in a continued
tumble that bowled over several chaperones who had been
investigating the stage, the Inventor flying clear past them and
coming into a rough stop right in front of one of the table of
refreshments set up beneath the ice sculptures. Just laying
limply for a few seconds as he recovered from his rough roll,
Haywire slowly pushed himself up into a sitting position, grin
huge and eyes shining behind the goggles that were now crooked
and only covering one eye. With a cheer of victory, Haywire
laughed then turned and took up one of the sweets laid out on
the tables, him happily munching away as he felt a little too
dizzy to try standing up fully yet.
