Sero
By: Sero Date: December 24, 2013, 12:12 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Name: Sero Heretici
Race: Unicorn
Gender: Male
Age: Late twenties
Physical Description: White unicorn of average height, Sero has
yellow eyes and his most distinguishing feature is his fading
blue mane and tail kept in a tidy organized style whenever he
can manage, but left to become a bit more scruffy when he's off
at work. Always trying to appear calm and keep a cool head
during stressful situations, Sero often carries himself with
confidence that he can't help but show even though he is
actually quite humble when spoken to. His cutie mark is a circle
looking like an old puzzle that is near completion. Carries a
compass kept on a string around his neck like a necklace.
Special Talent: Multi-casting magic
Likes: History, puzzles, rare or important items, the smell of
old books.
Dislikes: Being manipulated, rivals who go too far, being unable
to figure something out no matter hard he tried.
Strengths: Being able to multi-cast and maintain lower tier
spells with efficiency and ease. Also has plenty of experience
in defending himself with his hooves. Sharp thinker. Very
organized. Good at navigation.
Weaknesses: Lacks the punch of bigger and stronger spells used
by other unicorns putting him at a bit of a disadvantage when
facing skilled magical opponents. While rare to see, Sero can
sometimes have a temper and act harshly or without thinking
things through when pushed too far.
Bio: Getting high grades in school and loving every minute of
history class, Sero knew exactly what he wanted to do with his
life from an early age, that being to know and see everything.
Graduating from a respectable school of higher learning with his
mind set, Sero kept the memory of how he'd impressed his
professors fresh in his mind as he set off to start his life's
first adventure right... then spent the next few years as a
librarian in one of Canterlot's largest libraries.
Not... exactly how he saw his adventure taking off, Sero spent
most of his days for the next few years reading, guiding
visitors to the correct aisles and reorganizing shelves,
enjoying books such as the Daring Do series and wishing he was
somehow in the pages with the books named hero exploring old
tombs and temples full of history and artefacts most had either
never known or forgotten about. With very regular sighs, Sero
was nearly prepared to simply submit to his life surrounded by
books after the hours and days began to blur together. At the
very least, he assured himself, he'd never run out of things to
learn.
Then things changed...
During a rather routine day of flicking through the pages of his
most recent tome dedicated to chronicling the events of the
third century after Nightmare Moon's banishment, a group of very
excited ponies had entered his library and begun to make a
ruckus in their search for a few very specific books, knocking
things over and being constantly shushed by the other visitors
as they nearly tore the place apart as if something nasty was
chasing them. Being pulled from his huge, and admittedly
interesting, read, Sero had taken it upon himself to bring his
library back under control, reigning in the noisy trouble makers
and attempting to assist them in finding whatever they'd been
looking for in the hopes of hurrying them out of the building.
He was entirely forgotten about when the group was given what
they were after, them then, very loudly, starting to brain storm
over the material in the centre of the library, earning both
Sero's disapproval... then interest as he couldn't help but
listen in to what they were discussing. He almost couldn't
believe what he was hearing. Apparently these ponies were some
kind of group of archeologists, or treasure hunters, or
something of the sort, and they had gotten themselves hung up on
some kind of detail that none of them had a clue on in search of
some kind of item.
Feeling a bit of excitment building in his gut, Sero continued
to eavesdrop on the group shamelessly until a number of things
they were saying began to click in his mind. Almost blurting out
the answer in a shout at first, a thing that earned many a
raised eyebrows from the group, Sero took a few breaths to calm
himself down before going into detail his theory for how to
solve their problem, the group then pausing and blinking as they
slowly began to collectively catch up to the unicorn in what he
was saying. With another round of passionate discussion, this
one now being listened in on by the unicorn with a large excited
grin plastered over his face, the ponies came to agree that Sero
was right, then went on to ask him for assistance with a few
other things that had been troubling them up until then, the
unicorn happily offering assistance and even managing to remove
several other thorns that had been stuck in the ponies sides for
months. The group of ponies left the library that day with many
hearty thanks being sent Sero's way, the unicorn them to the
doors of the library and assuring them of how welcome they were
before returning to his desk, him then trying to go back to his
reading but finding it impossible with his mind now stuck on
what the group of ponies had been doing and looking for.
A few days passed, Sero finally managing to forget about the
recent visitors after having his excitment wear down over his
usual grinding of hours, and everything seemed to be returning
back to normal for the unicorn just before something happened
that he'd have never expected to in a million years. The group
of ponies returned, and they wanted his help. Not only that, but
they wanted him to join them on what they were working on, him
having proven himself quite helpful and made a very strong
impression. Sero, while he'll claim to have needed a few days to
consider the offer, was gone that night.
It was an amazing adventure, one Sero still remembers perfectly
and holds close to his heart, but it ended in... only minor
success... What he and the group of ponies had searched for had
already been gone by the time they'd reached its bidding place,
and the trail was dead from there on. Disappointing, yes, but
still the most exciting time of Sero's life. Returning home, he
couldn't just go back to his life of reading and waiting.
Something had woken up inside of him, something that would not
be ignored. From then on Sero was a lot more... physically
active and hooves on with his study of history, taking it upon
himself to have a more... direct experience when wanting to know
more about a fancy item hidden away in some forgotten fortress.
Now very well traveled and experienced, Sero keeps a personal
collection of items he's discovered or gathered, nothing ever so
important as to keep away from the public and deny them the
chance to see them with their own eyes, but things, such as that
arrow head that nearly took his eye out or the little golden
idol he'd found in the dust and debris of a collapsed crypt,
that make for nice souvenirs.
Extra Details: Vita is his older sister.
