       Lapis Lazuli
By: Lapis Lazuli Date: December 24, 2013, 7:12 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Name: Lapis Lazuli. Prefers to be called Laz by her few actual
       friends.
       Race: Crystal Pony.
       Gender: Mare.
       Age: 28.
Physical Description: Lapis has a stunningly-bright ultramarine
coloured coat, as vibrantly blue as the mineral she's named for,
and made even more visually impressive by the characteristic
sparkle and hint of transparency shared by all crystal ponies.
Her eyes are a dull golden colour, and, like all crystal ponies,
her dark irises are polygonal rather than round.
Lapis' long, brownish-grey mane is restrained by a simple
hairband, with her name carefully and subtly scored into the
       silver.
She usually wears a sky-blue jacket to disguise slightly her
crystalline nature and her vibrantly bright coat, as well as to
protect her from grime and small cuts as she works.
She has a strong grip, a strong smile, and, marred only by a few
small scars (including one rather impressive one that terminates
just under her right eye), looks rather stalwart and dependable,
whilst still retaining some degree of conventional
attractiveness. She is of slightly higher than average height,
and is clearly well-toned, and reasonably physically impressive,
especially when it comes to wielding her pick-axe.

Special Talent: Lapis' special talent lies in the mining and
preparation of gemstones, and is represented by her cutie mark:
A hefty pickaxe splitting open a chunk of rock, which contains
       her namesake.
Likes: Hard work, being underground, mining, the collection and
cataloguing of gemstones, bits, loud music, a bit of a drink,
and (her guilty pleasure), pastries and desserts.
Dislikes: Lazing around with nothing to do, open spaces and
bright lights, overly fancy or very stuck-up ponies, putting on
weight, getting too ill or injured to work, ponies pronouncing
her name wrong, being viewed as unintelligent or uneducated, or
       inferior to others in intelligence.
Strengths: Surprisingly strong and well toned (even for an
earth-pony), exceptionally skilled with a pickaxe, very precise
       and perceptive.
A relatively good cook, good at finding her way underground,
reasonably nimble and dextrous, works well independently of
civilisation, knows enough of metalwork to repair damage to her
tools, although she is certainly no blacksmith.
Weaknesses: Shines rather (embarrassingly) brightly in the
sunshine, not particularly sociable or skilled at wordplay, can
come off as a little too cynical and snarky, has a mild
obsession with the collection of gemstones and can be a touch
       greedy at times.
Fears: She has a mild phobia of large open spaces, preferring
the more enclosed streets of a large city, or the comforting
coolness of underground caverns. She is also more than a little
       afraid of extreme weather and storms, and in particular;
       flooding, as she cannot swim.
Bio: Lapis was raised in the countryside of the Crystal Empire,
and her father was the foreman of a successful mine, used in the
construction of the grand city's newer buildings. She worked
alongside her mother and father in the mine for years,
developing both impressive skills in mining, and a preference
for the tunnels and mines of the mountain her family home was
built on. Due to the solitude of their home, Lapis never
received any kind of formal education, only receiving
home-schooling, with a large focus on mining and minerals, for
the time she stayed with her family.
In more recent years, she left home with nothing but an
oversized rucksack of mining tools, her personal effects and
camping supplies, and a small collection of her favourite
gemstones. She now travels Equestria, looking for unique and
valuable gems to collect and sell, with the intention of
becoming wealthy and successful. Lapis operates her gem-crafting
and trading out of a small wooden cart, which also holds room
enough for her to live, and travels from city to city, as well
as through the countryside in an effort to mine, collect, shape
       and sell valuable gemstones.
Years of independence and a lack of social interaction have left
Lapis with a rather cynical and initially unfriendly
personality, when it comes to meeting new ponies. After getting
to know her a little better, Lapis is more likely to open up to
others, and quickly becomes a stalwart and dependable friend,
but her initially rough demeanour and cynical, snarky outlook,
means that few ponies can genuinely be called her friends.
Extra Details: Often carries her saddlebags full of mining gear
with her, including torches, rope, chisels, her helmet,
glow-sticks, sometimes just a few mining explosives, and her
       favourite pickaxe; Splitter.
Splitter is a masterfully crafted pickaxe, well used, but still
in flawless condition; the materials (including diamond edging)
and minor charms used in its creation, ensuring its endurance,
strength and effectiveness against nearly all materials known to
ponykind, even in the face of the wear and tear ordinarily
       caused by its use.

All seems fine. I certainly have no problems.
