Re: Dents and Scratches

At first Thunder only continued to mumble nonsense as his brain
attempted to set itself straight, a hoof lightly swatting at
nothing in the air over him as he tried to catch the fading
stars only he could see. Eventually, the measuring tape managed
to give the stallion enough of a tickle to get his attention,
him giggling a little before giving the blacksmith responsible
an irritated expression, Thunder beginning to get his head
sorted out and return to normal. "Ever heard of personal space?"
He asked, waving a hoof at the tape to try and shoo it away
before rolling over onto his side to face away from the others,
"Get outta here with your magic tape."
Mana paid no mind to Thunders groggy protests, him recognizing
that his partner was probably not going to try anything further.
Seeing how the Pegasus was now stripped of his armor and
passified, Mana dropped his barrier over the entrance, Thunder
looking to not really care either way anymore. "Is there
anything else you need?" The unicorn asked the other, "or is
that everything that's neccessary for the repairs? If so, do you
have a rough estimate on when we can expect work to be done on
the armor? Thunder here is going to be stuck with a temp suit in
the mean time, and I can tell you from experience that it isn't
exactly fun wearing something that's rented out to different
stallions frequently. I'm less worried for him and more worried
for my patience in listening to him complain over it, you
understand."

Ignoring the feeble protests of the pegasus, Ironfire continued
to take and record several measurements, eventually ending with
re-reading his notes, ensuring that he did indeed have
everything he required. Seemed like getting Thunder here was a
chore enough, he didn't need to make it worse by requiring
another visit for further measurements.
"Yup, that's everything," he nodded, putting the measuring tape
and paper down, "as for work time, I'll rush it, but you're
probably looking at a couple of days even then. If you'd like,
I'm sure I can loan you a hammer to ring his helmet when he gets
too noisy,"

"What happened to not lending your hammer to customers?" Thunder
interrupted, turning his head back far enough to see the others
in the corner of his eye, "Something about 'poor repeat custom'?
Why's he so special? You become besties when I wasn't looking?
This kind of favoritism makes me sick..."
"Nah, I wont need it," Mana replied to the obviously not serious
offer, his partner again being ignored as was appropriate, "a
simple hoof to the back of the head should be enough to keep it
manageable. Couple days? You hear that, Thunder?" He looked back
at the pegasus who had begun sulking on the floor, "Won't be
long at all, and you'll have only a minor risk of lice from the
temp suit at the worst."
A twirl of a hoof from Thunder to show his sarcastic enthusiasm,
"Yaaaaaay. Are we done here? I'm hungry."
"That depends. Can you walk, or at the very least hobble,
without me needing to carry you? Because you'll need brain
damage, or you'll be crawling before that happens."
Face being set with determination, Thunder rolled over to glare
at the others then struggled to get to his hooves, the idea of
lunch spurring him forward and granting renewed strength as he
pushed himself up into a standing position which he held for all
of three seconds. An "Woah" accompanyed his stumble which led
back to him falling once again onto his rump, the stallion
shaking his head then giving Mana sad eyes that were obviously
false, the full grown pony then pretending to act like a colt
who scraped his knee. "Pleeeeease carry me? I'm huuuungry!"
"Do you have any water, Ironfire?" Again, Thunder was ignored as
Mana spoke to the blacksmith with a sigh, "Or maybe a quenching
barrel you could 'accidentally' dump over his head? Also...
since I'm here, are you skilled at all in crafting jewelry or
setting gems into armor and the like?"

"I said I don't lend my hammer, I offered a hammer. World of
difference," he answered Thunder, before talking with Mana once
more, "I'm sure I can spare some water," he offered helpfully,
levitating one of his quenching barrels over, "just tell me, how
much do you need?" he threw a glance at Thunder, seeing if he'd
found any sudden motivation to move, "while not my primary work,
obviously, I am able to do jewellery, though most of that
training gets applied to gem settings and engravings these days.
For the little personal touches,"

"A few buckets at least," Mana replied, Thunder looking not in
the least bit intimidated but deciding to be quiet all the same
as he started to try and regain his balance, "and that's good to
hear. Should be easy to guess just from looking at my own armor
what I've got in mind." The stallon removed his boots, using his
magic to levitate them up so as to be easy to see. Each one had
their own different gems set into a socket each, all four having
their own unique colors as the gems carried different properties
that Mana was studying and using for personal research. "I just
need to swap these gems out with a few replacments. Normally I
do it myself, and to a trained eye that probably shows, but I
figure you can probably get it done faster and better. I've got
the gems, just need you to remove the current ones and plug the
new ones in." His magic grew a little brighter as four other
gems of the same size as the ones set into the boots were
removed from the stalions bags. "Careful with these. They aren't
there to look pretty. Each one has its own enchantments that can
make it cause problems if not handled with care, though I'm sure
you already were planning on doing just that. Don't let the ruby
get too close to your forge though...
"So with these and the maintanence on Thunder's armor, what's
your estimate on what the damage will be to his bit pouch?"

Ironfire looked between the barrel and Thunder several times
before shrugging and tipping it slightly further, pouring around
a third of it's contents in a deluge on the poor pony, deciding
he needed a little encouragement to come to his senses.
"For an armour repair of this degree, combined with the
replacement of the gems, which is itself a simple enough task,
you're looking somewhere around the 350 bits mark," he spoke to
Mana, as though he hadn't just soaked a pony, "give or take a
dozen or so. You can pay on pick up, so I'll have a better idea
then,"

Thunder was.. almost.. kinda.. sorta back on his hooves at this
point, his dizziness and head spinning was finally starting to
lighten up enough for him to at least stand like a stallion
again, Thunder smiling a little in pride over this simple
achievement as he balanced on his four hooves. Then the barrel
above him was tipped. Having the water splash over and soak him
to the bone, Thunder had reflexively tried to keep his nose and
mouth away from the downpour but still suffered a very small
amount of water making its way in and tickling his lungs, him
then coughing a few times before trying to take a step back and
slipping on his hoof, Thunder then only managing to fall back
onto his rump once again. "This is assault!" He claimed, voice
trying to rise up into an authoritative tone, "Do you have any
idea was the punishment is for attacking a member of the Royal
Guard, citizen!?" He punctuated this with a whip of his dripping
wet tail to try and send some water Iron's way before looking to
his partner, "Manaaaaaaa," and then he sounded like a whiny colt
tattling to his mother, "Ironfire is trying to kill meeeeee!"
"350 sounds reasonable," the unicorn ignored then replied, "he
can afford that no problem, I'm sure."
"Ha! I'll show you! One trip to the Stake House and you'll be
paying this bill!"
"No, one trip to the Stake House and you'll be polishing armor
in your off hours."
"Whatever, can I at least get a," his sentence was cut off by a
loud and clearly exaggerated coughing fit, "towel after having
my life be put in jeapordy? Do this and I may think about
putting in a word to shorten your prison sentence to only four
lifetimes."

Ironfire looked towards Thunder with a quirked eyebrow.
"I use fire magic. Why would I need a towel?" he questioned, as
though it wasn't obvious, "though I promise not to burn you. Too
badly. I have to admit, the prison time is a heavy and
distracting thought," he bemoaned, playing it for what it was
worth, unable to keep a smile from his face as he looked towards
Mana briefly.

"Eight lifetimes if you burn me!" Thunder threatened, not
looking very pleased at the jokes as he could see Mana openly
grinning at all of this, "no, forget eight, an eternity in the
dungeons if you singe a single hair on my flank! I'll call in
favors to make sure you get what's appropriate!"
"What favors?" Mana asked, actively trying not to chuckle at his
partners expense, "the only thing you can call in is a
discounted pizza from that Celestia awful shop on the corner of
Trotting. I know Ironfire may be just breaking oh so many laws
right now, but I don't think he deserves such a cruel and
unusual punishment as the hay on onion and garlic thing you
inhale from that place."
"Ha! Like I'd waste such a delicacy on a blacksmith such as
this! Citizen! I demand you dry me off this instant! And refrain
from styling my mane in the process. I have a guy for that."
"Yourself."
"Yes."
"It shows."
"Thank you."
"Wasn't a compliment."
"You know that it really was. Towel!"

"I actually wasn't joking about the lack of towels. Seriously.
Fire magic," he points at his horn for emphasis, "I see little
point in creating more work for myself by cleaning towels. If
you'd like, you can always stand in front of the furnace. At
least any burns would be your own fault then,"
