Re: A Drink for What Ails You

Breezy blinked as Clairvoyant only nuzzled further against him,
her previous excitement being replaced with surprise as she
noticed the drowsiness that was starting to appear. She watched
this for a moment, both curious and confused by the sight,
despite how nice it felt to have him nuzzled up against her like
that. Her gaze lingered for a few more seconds before looking up
to Thyme, her feathers still puffed out in contentment. "Does
zhis happen often?" she asked Thyme as quietly as she could so
as not to disturb Clairvoyant, one claw moving around his
shoulder to help keep him against her. "Em... I mean, I am not
complainink, only curious. He is lookink very peaceful vhen he
is sleep, yes?"

Thyme watches the two hug, noting that her son appears to be
nodding off. He always did tend to pass out if he was allowed to
get comfortable. She maintains her smile as Breezy looks at her
questioningly, hopefully reassuring her that this wasn't
something to worry about. "Yeah, it doesn't take much to make
him sleepy." She says, moving in a little closer in case the
griffin doesn't want to hold him for long. She nods at Breezy's
observation. "He does." She says, then looks over Breezy's
shoulder, seemingly remembering the other thing the griffin had
asked about. "I can take him if you want, so you can go look
around."

Breezy glanced around the shop for a moment at Thyme's
suggestion, eyes roaming over the various potions displayed,
before looking back down to the pony rested against her. She
smiled at the sight and giggled quietly before turning her
attention back to Thyme. "I vould not be vishink to get in a
moser's vay of her child, so unless you vere askink me to give
him to you, I do not vant to be disturbink of Clairvoyant." She
told Thyme, though she gave a warm smile to the mare regardless.
"Vhat inspired you to becomink maker of potions, miss Thyme? Vas
it difficult to learn?"

Thyme nods at Breezy's answer, fine with letting Clairvoyant
stay where he was as long as the griffin wasn't bothered. "It's
my talent." She answers, shifting slightly in her wheelchair to
give the griffin a better look at her cutie mark. "Learning
wasn't too difficult, though I had help. My mother was an
alchemist too." There's a slight, almost unnoticeable pause
before the word "mother" and Thyme's ears droop ever so slightly
for a moment before perking back up. "If you'd like to learn I
have books that can help, and I sell basic equipment."

Breezy watched with obvious interest as Thyme began to explain a
little bit about how she got started, looking almost a little
envious that that meant the mare was just so naturally talented
with things like this. However, with what Thyme said about
having help, any looks of envy were replaced by looks of
intrigue, as if thinking she might have a chance too if she were
to take an interest in this field. Then, when Thyme mentioned
having books that could help--as well as selling basic
equipment--Breezy's expression immediately changed into one of
excitement, and she let out a bright chirp
(

that she was unable to contain.
"I vould very much be lovink to learn makink of potions, miss
Thyme! It vould be helpink for healink, yes? Um... If I vas
learnink... vell enough, zhen... Do you sink you could be
teachink me, in zhe future? If, em... If it vould not be

"Right. Uh-huh. See you then, Lanz!" Clarity says to one of
her friends as they reach Thyme's shop, waving her off. She
swears, some ponies don't know how to stop talking. She
chuckles and shakes her head before opening the door to enter,
setting off the chime seconds after Breezy's chirp. She trots
quickly toward the counter, looking over a list in one hoof.
"Hey T-Mom, just got back from a planning meeting. Think we
have a big enough oven to handle-"
She stops as she lifts her head and sees...is that a Gryphon?
And she's holding Clair? Is he asleep? She looks over the
scene blankly for a few seconds, then gives a squee and a bright
smile. "Oh, that is TOO precious! He's made a friend!
Adorable even! T-Mom, are you seeing thi- Of course you are.
Squee!" She runs a quick little circle around the pair before
offering any greeting, grin growing with every passing second.
"Well, hello there. I see you've already met my twin brother.
Isn't he the cutest?" He reaches forward to ruffle Clair's
mane. "Anyway, my name's Clarity, prettiest filly in
Canterlot," she says with a joking grin and flip of her mane.
She's wearing a simple black dress with blue belt and simple
eighth note studs in her ears.

Thyme's expression doesn't change at Breezy's sudden, happy
chirp, though her smile does widen a little when Clarity enters
the shop a second later. For a moment she wonders what her
daughter was going to ask for, but that matter is put aside when
Clarity notices Breezy and Clairvoyant. This, unsurprisingly,
distracts her, and Thyme waits patiently for her to finish
squeeing about the pair. "I don't know how good a teacher I'd
be." She says after Clarity finishes introducing herself. "But
if you really want to learn I suppose I can try."

Just moments after Breezy asked her questions, the door to the
shop opened, and the pony who'd entered almost immediately began
speaking. Breezy turned her attention away from Thyme to look
over to this new pony, wide eyes watching while the mare spoke,
her claw tightening a little around the stallion snuggled
against her feathers. She then cut herself short and looked over
to Breezy, the blank expression and awkward silence that ensued
unsettling the gryphon. She nervously glanced between Clarity
and Thyme, hoping one of them would do something, before Clarity
burst into action again, squealing in delight at her.
Breezy felt a bit of an involuntary blush burn at her cheeks
when Clarity gushed over the sight, not really embarrassed by it
so much as... flustered. All she could do was continue to sit in
place while Clarity ran around them, something of a lost look in
her eyes as she followed the mare to the best of her ability.
Then, when Clarity finally stopped and introduced herself,
Breezy offered her bright smile to her before looking over to
Thyme as she spoke.
"I vould beink honored if I could learnink under you, miss
Thyme. But em... Perhaps first ve vill be seeink if I am good at
all vhis makink of potions, yes?" she asked a little uncertainly
before looking to Clarity and smiling again. "Hello, miss
Clarity. Is pleasure to be meetink. You are indeed very
beautiful pony, and yes, I am agreeink zhat your broser is
cute," she said, not really thinking about how that might sound.
"My name is Breezy. And... Em... I am believink you had somesink
you vere askink your moser...?"

Clarity's face takes on a look of concentration as she tries to
decipher the Gryphon's words, tripped up by the accent.
"...Pleasure to be...meetink...somesink to ask mos...moser-oh!
Right!" Her face brightens back up and she hops back toward
Thyme, holding out the list she came in with. "Here's what I've
volunteered to bring. Didn't think about how big our oven was
for the last one, though." She walks back to Clair and starts
playing with his ear. "Do you think we have enough room for
that? I can find somepony else to bake it if ours is lacking,
but they asked so nicely for it to be you who mixed it."
Clairvoyant burrows deeper into Breezy's fluff with Clarity's
onslaught on his ear, gently nodding against her. She giggles
and sighs. "Aw, I was dropping by to take him to the spa with
me, but it seems such a shame to wake him."

Thyme nods to Breezy. "I'll get you some books to look over in a
moment." She says as Clarity come back over to her with the
list. Taking it in her magic, she looks it over, already making
a mental checklist of things they'd need to buy. She frowns a
little when she reaches the last one, not entirely sure if their
oven has the room for it. After a couple seconds of thought, she
gives a slow nod. "There won't be much room to spare, but it
should fit." She sets the list down on the counter as Clarity
moves back over to her brother, taking the time to move to the
far end of the shop to retrieve a couple beginner alchemy books
now that the attention is away from her for the moment. Rolling
back over to Breezy, she holds them out in her magic. "Would you
like some equipment to work on your own, or would you prefer to
come back sometime to practice here?"
