Re: A Drink for What Ails You

A pleasure to meet him? Clairvoyant is stopped from collapsing
in embarrassment mainly by the stabilizing emotions he reads
from the Gryphon in front of him, and it also helps with the
intimidation he starts feeling when he realizes just how big she
must be, her voice coming from as far above him as it is. His
ears turn up to catch her voice, though his head stays otherwise
level. His hooves drop from his new (hopefully) friend to the
floor and he sits. He wonders briefly how strong her heartbeat
is.
He tilts his head curiously and brings up his hooves to clap
twice, his small smile and light blush returning. His head dips
as well, nodding in greeting and hopefully conveying
friendliness.

Thyme watches as Clairvoyant makes his way around the counter,
her smile faltering just a little as he walks toward Breezy
rather than her. She considers making a move to stop him, but
Breezy seems friendly enough that she probably won't mind. And
if she does... well, it's no real harm done. She's a little
surprised when he sits rather than retreating to her side, but
her smile returns. "His name's Clairvoyant. He can't speak." She
tells the griffin, hoping it doesn't bother her.

The lean, scrawny gryphon watched as the pony in front of her
sat down in front of her, only to then clap his hooves twice in
the air. This earned an amused giggle from Breezy, the smile on
her beak only spreading when the smile and blush on his cheeks
returned. She then looked over to Thyme when the mare spoke up,
saying his name... and that he couldn't speak. Immediately, a
mixed sensation of disappointment, sorrow and sympathy came from
Breezy as she lifted a gentle claw to his shoulder. "I am...
apologize, Clairvoyant," she began haltingly, not really
considering that the sympathy may or may not be offensive.
"I vas not knovink. I... am very... impressed, zhat you seem
regardlessly happy. Is... Commendable, yes?" she asked
hopefully, obviously a little unsure of what she was saying,
possibly because of the language barrier. "Em... How does he--"
Breezy began, lifting her gaze to Thyme before wincing and
looking back to Clairvoyant, a feeling of sheepishness coming
from her. "How do you--" She paused again, cutting herself short
in uncertainty, not quite knowing who to ask her question to.
Finally, she just asks what's on her mind, her gaze settling on
Clairvoyant. "How do you speak vhen zhere is nopony you know to
be speakink for you?"

Nonononono. Clair's mood drops inexorable downward with
Breezy's, his ears and head drooping with a sniff before a claw
lays on his shoulder. He lifts his hoof up to rub it curiously.
What an interesting thing to feel. He runs his hoof up the arm
it's attached to a short way and back down to where it meets his
shoulder. It lifts his spirits somewhat against Breezy's
disheartening emotions, and his ears perk back up.
His expression grows confused at the mention of speaking without
somepony speaking for him. Why would he need to do that? The
only times he'd ever been without his family after losing his
voice were when he was home alone, and those were few and far
between, and never for very long.
He drops his hoof from the claw on his shoulder and feels
forward to ensure he won't be stepping on her other [s]hoof[/s]
claw (he'd need to remember that) and gives out a rapid series
of taps and rubs to the floor with his forehooves, asking Mommy
to ask why he'd need to. He appends a message to ask Breezy not
to be sad, forcing a smile once more.

Thyme had been expecting that reaction, it was always like that
when ponies found out about Clairvoyant's inability to speak.
She was more surprised that the griffin hadn't reacted that way
when she'd seen his blindness. Maybe she knows someone else who
is blind too? Thyme can only speculate. She's glad when Breezy
manages to lift her adoptive son's mood, and she looks at her
curiously when she begins to speak. She opens her mouth to
answer, only to be interrupted by Clairvoyant tapping at the
floor, her ears perking up and listening to the pattern. "He
wants to know why he would need to speak himself. He's never
really been on his own before." She says, her ears focusing
again as the blind pony continues his message. "And he says he
doesn't want you to be sad."

Breezy's own expression grew confused as Clairvoyant began
tapping his hooves on the floorboards beneath him, not really
understanding what was going on. A little concerned that maybe
he was having a seizure of some kind, she glanced over to
Thyme... but paused when she saw the mare's calm, if curious
expression on her face. After the long session of tapping ended
and Thyme spoke up, Breezy listened intently to the mare, a
little surprised that what Clairvoyant had done was actually
some kind of message. She contemplated how she'd further explain
herself while Clairvoyant tapped out another message, a light
frown of thought on her face as her gaze turned down.
Then, when she was asked not to be sad, Breezy immediately began
smiling brightly again, a feeling of elation tinged with a
slight hint of melancholy, before completely giving way to the
joy came from her. She reached forward to gently wrap her claws
around Clairvoyant's shoulders and pull him into the fluff that
covered the upper half of her body, offering him a brief hug
before releasing her hold on him to allow him to do as he
wished. "I vill not be sad. I am apologizink for zhat. I vas...
not expectink it." She looked to Thyme then, her feathers now
puffed in her moment of happiness, giving her a slightly comical
look.. especially given that she was a smaller gryphon. "So
Clairvoyant is son? Vhat is his age? I am... still only
teenager, myself..."

Clair's mood rises in tandem with Breezy's, his ears flicking
happily and his smile growing larger and easier. And then he's
being drawn toward the Gryphon in a fluffy hug, head pillowed
against the feathers on her chest. What a pleasant sensation.
He returns the hug himself, burrowing slightly against her and
putting his ear to her chest, listening to her heartbeat. It's
a bit harder to hear than with ponies due to the covering of
feathers, but it certainly is strong. He doesn't retreat when
she stops hugging him, staying leaning against her, his eyes
half-lidding as he just listens to her pulse.

Thyme is a bit surprised at the sudden shift in Breezy's mood
upon hearing Clairvoyant's request, having expected a far less
dramatic reaction. She' even more surprised at the sudden hug,
though it makes her smile widen to see her willingness to accept
him. The griffin doesn't seem like she'll be too bothered by
Clairvoyant's continued hug, so Thyme doesn't concern herself
with that any. "He's my son, yes. He'll be Eight-teen in just a
couple of months."

Breezy perks up quite visibly in interest when Thyme mentions
Clairvoyant's age, a very strong feeling of excitement pouring
forth from Breezy as she smiles bright at that. "I vill beink
seventeen in just few veeks!" She cheered, unable to keep her
claws from wrapping Clairvoyant up in another heat-of-the-moment
hug. "I am happy to find somepony close to age! I vill hopink ve
can be very good friends, yes, Clairvoyant?" She asked
rhetorically, loosening her hold on him just a little bit though
she didn't move or pull away from the embrace. "Maybe Canterlot
vill not beink so intimdate now~!"

Clair's smile brightens again with the second hug, happy to have
found somebody so enthusiastic about him. His other ventures
into the land of friendship were...lukewarm at best. He nods
needlessly into Breezy's chest, burrowing deeper into her fluff.
Hm, close to his age? That means close to Clarity's age, too.
He bets those two would get along.
His hooves move slightly against her where he's returning the
hug. So soft...so warm...to his semi-dismay, he finds himself
drowsing against her, beginning to sag sleepily. And her
heartbeat, so strong and comforting...He could listen to it all
day...
