The Hangar
By: Foxtrot Date: December 10, 2014, 2:19 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
In the main lobby of the Royal Guard station in Canterlot,
Captain Victus finishes checking up with a recent patrol. With
the reports given, the captain returns his officer's salute and
begins to head back to his office when his name is called out by
one of his own.
"Captain Victus, sir!" The guard approaches, giving the captain
a crisp salute as he does so. "I have a Mr. Trot outside waiting
to speak to you sir. He says it's an urgent matter. I know he
has a record and we can arrest him right now to press charges."
Victus gives a tired sigh as he hears the name and remains
silent as he listens to his guards suggestion. "Negative
sergeant, that won't be necessary. Escort Mr. Trot to my office,
I'll speak with him there." The sergeant nods and walks over to
the front door to escort the guest. Victus in the meantime
returns to his office and sits at his desk. He eyes the
paperwork resting on there as well as the half full cup of
coffee sitting in the corner of it all. After a moment of
silence he hears hoof steps approaching his door. It creaks open
as a brown unicorn peeks into the office. The captain leans
back, his demeanor not lightening up one bit, "Come in Foxtrot,
whatever business you have make it quick. I still got half a
mind for locking you up for all the things you've been doing in
my city."
Foxtrot remains silent, expressing slight annoyance at the
threat as he sits down at the chair on the other side of the
captains desk. The door closes, although the silhouette of the
guard remains stationary in case they need to spring into
action. "Hey there Captain." The unicorn replies, "How are
things going for ya?" Victus remains silent, his stern look
aimed right at him answering Foxtrot's question. "Alright then,
moving on." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a key
tagged 'B14', "I have this key for a warehouse B14. I don't have
directions though so I wanted to see what information the Royal
Guard has on it."
The mention of B14 does cause Victus to raise a brow in
curiosity. "B14? Huh, haven't heard of that place in a long
time." The stallion gets up and walks over to some filing
cabinets behind him. After opening a few he pulls out a folder
and places it on the desk. Opening it up it shows several
documents and photos of the complex. "It's a few decades old,
built by a major airship manufacturer when they first started
out. Twenty years later the company moves to a larger location
and leaves this one to rust. Fast forward ten years a pony by
the name of Oscar purchases the property and does major
renovations to it. He turned the warehouse into a training
course, the small airstrip into an archery range, and the hangar
into his own living quarters."
Foxtrot quietly listens as Victus discloses the information with
him. "Wait a second, how do you know about Oscar?"
Victus leans back on his seat, looking up at the ceiling for a
moment before tuning his gaze back to the unicorn. "Oscar used
the warehouse's new modifications to assist the Royal Guard.
Once every two weeks we would send units over there to train.
I've been there myself a few times; it's well built I admit.
Oscar himself was a good stallion to know."
"I wish I did." Foxtrot replies as he examines the photos. He
leans back on his seat and looks up to the captain, "You said
this place was rented out to the guards for training right? What
if I dust this place off, get it back to peak condition, and
just continue renting to the guard like before?"
Victus crosses his hoofs as Foxtrot describes the situation.
When he finishes the captain pauses, "However... What do you
want out of it?"
Foxtrot leans forward, "I want all of these petty charges placed
on me wiped from my record. Getting locked up because I couldn't
find a place to sleep is completely fubar."
"And the times it wasn't just vagrancy?" Victus interjects,
"What about trespassing on restricted areas of the castle?
Sleeping in the gardens and hassling my guards?"
"And what about the increase in anonymous tips you and your
troops have been getting that actually lead to serious organized
crime operations?" Foxtrot retorts. The unicorn eases the
building tension in his shoulders, his tone becoming more calm
with some weariness. "I was a guard for only five years, Victus.
And because of a stupid decision I made I can't go back to that.
I still want to help the guard, but I can't do that when I have
to avoid getting arrested by them."
Victus remains silent for a moment as he contemplates Foxtrot's
argument. "Alright, I'll clear the charges. But the guard gets
the facility for training every Thursday, all day."
Foxtrot shrugs, "Sure. It might take some time to clean it out
but I'll let you know when it's set."
Captain Victus nods, then places a hoof on one of the papers and
slides it over to the unicorn, "It's in the Frostworth district.
Judging by the lack of 'anonymous tips' for that area it's safe
to say that whoever is reporting them is avoiding it for a
reason." Closing the folder, Victus tucks it away back into the
filing cabinet before turning to his desk. "Is there anything
else to want?"
Foxtrot shakes his head as he gets up, "Nope, that should be
everything. Thank you captain." Victus nods and begins working
on some paperwork. The unicorn exits the station shortly after
and finds himself trotting through the streets, heading to the
older sections of the city.

Peridot Frost steps slowly through the streets, conscious the
many pairs of eyes that her sparkling coat and brand-new silver
armor draw. It is the crystal pony's first day on the job of the
Royal Canterlot Guard, although she has years of experience as
an ice archer of the Crystal Empire. Apparently, that experience
is enough for Captain Victus to send her on a solo patrol of
Canterlot's streets.
Frostworth. Peridot wonders if the captain decided to send her
to this district simply because it matches her name. The
district is one of the older sections of the city, so the
architecture is closer to the Canterlot that Peridot remembers
from over a thousand years ago.
The patrol is mostly up eventful - breaking up an argument
between a shopkeeper and a customer, catching a pickpocket
before he had actually levitated anything out of a mare's purse,
which meant that Peridot had to turn him loose. Her presence is
noticeable enough that Peridot assumes most remotely suspicious
activity stops as soon as she walks into an area.
Peridot turns another corner and nearly stumbles into a group of
colts clustered around an entrance to an abandoned warehouse.
She guesses that they are engaged in something illegal, gambling
or dealing, but everything is quickly hidden before she can get
a good look at it.
"Alright, clear out of here!" Peridot motions to the street,
frustrated by her inability to arrest them simply because she
hadn't seen an specific evidence of illegal activity. One of the
colts opens his mouth as if to argue, so Peridot pulls out her
bow. "I don't want any trouble." She sight of the weapon is
enough to keep the colt quiet, and the group quickly disperses.
Peridot turns to examine the building the colts were gathered
by. The warehouse has the letters "B14" in peeling paint, as
well as a few faded and outdated insignias of the Royal Guard.
"What do we have here?" Peridot mutters to herself, approaching
the door of the warehouse.

As Foxtrot enters the Frostworth district, he pulls up his hood
and keeps his eyes forward to avoid contact with any individuals
he trots across. 'Ugh, how am I going to get this place up and
running again? I'm gonna have to get in touch with a landscaper
for the field, a contractor for for the warehouse and hangar...
Wait to I have to get this place inspected?' The unicorn
slightly shrugs, shifting his direction to avoid a group of
colts walking towards him, 'Well I guess if the Royal Guard is
going to be using it then it probably does.' He internally sighs
at the amount of work he expects to do to get his destination up
and running again. His thoughts are interrupted when a sudden
shine a short distance away catches his attention. Foxtrot peers
over to the source to find a Royal Guard in front of a
warehouse, more specifically B14. This time the unicorn sighs
out loud, frustration in his voice as he mutters to himself,
"Great. Victus doesn't even take my word seriously; he has to
send someone just to... hmm." He examines the guard in front of
the door as he approaches the complex, "Huh, she doesn't look
like the captain's usual guys. Well, either way I have to get in
that building, might as well make this as easy as possible."
Foxtrot pulls his hood back down, looking around him to see if
anypony else is around. With the streets around them clear he
approaches the guard from her right and stops a short distance
away, "Excuse me ma'am, that's uh, warehouse B14, right?"
