The night seemed to go fairly well. Playing a cops & robbers
game with a filly Agilene never knew felt refreshing. That was
until a glowing projectile emitted from the filly's horn and
flew to her. The attack was completely unexpected. Agilene
gasped and reacted by side-stepping to the right to avoid the
missile. Clearly, this filly saw this as more than a game.
Agilene gave her props for the effort. She stood straight and
stared the filly down, "Is there more you would like to show
       me?"

Pouting somewhat angrily over the fact that the pegasus had
effortlessly avoided her missile, Nightingale glare the mare
down, trying to come up with a new plan of 'attack'. Agilene's
taunting question made Nightingale grumble a little bit before
responding with, "Yeah! But just remember you asked for it!"
With that, the filly set about creating another illusion--a set
of them in fact. On the ground in front of her, the air
shimmered for but a moment before a blue and white striped cat
stood there, electricity sparking from its coat and where its
eyes should be. Above the cat hovered a small, icy azure dragon,
whose scales seemed to be covered with icicles. Beside that, two
fiery cardinals flapped on either side of the dragon, their
       wings trailing flames.
"Zhu Que, Qing Long, and Bai Hu! You still wanna go, or are you
       scared?"

Well, Lamplight's supposed assailant was certainly quick,
managing to dodge the filly's magical blast with ease, and the
projectile sails off and dissipates harmlessly against the
ground. Seems pretty confidant too, since she then asks
Nightingale if she has anything else. At this point Lamplight is
beginning to suspect she's having a strange dream, a thought
that Nightingale's next action doesn't do anything to dissuade.
The innkeeper's eyebrows rise as the dark coated filly seemingly
conjures a small group of creatures. Lamplight's eyes narrow as
she watches the elemental monsters. She could swear those are
familiar somehow... The orange mare mutters the names
Nightingale had said to herself as she watches the strange
creatures. It was right on the tip of her tongue, but she just
       couldn't remember...

Agilene's heart raced, but she stayed still as she stared down
the creatures in front of her. She was surprised the little
unicorn could pull off such feats. The question is if they were
harmful or just there for show. Before Agilene could proceed
forward, her focus turned to Lamplight, "Are you sure you wish
to stay? It seems things are turning for the worse."
The last thing Agilene wanted was for someone else to get hurt
       in all this.

Lamplight doesn't notice Agilene speaking to her at first, still
focused on trying to remember where she recognizes those
creatures from. She comes out of her reverie in time to catch
the last bit of the pegasus' comment, and looks over at her for
a moment. What had she said before that? Something about... Oh.
"I..." Lamplight begins, shooting another glance at Nightingale
and her conjured monsters. Honestly she's still rather confused
about this whole situation, but, well, it was all just too weird
to miss. It'd probably make a pretty interesting story at least,
even if it does turn out of be a dream. "I'll be fine." She
answers, though she takes a step or two away from the
       dark-coated filly.

Nightingale's eyes narrowed when Agilene directed her attention
to Lamplight, watching to see if the mare was going to try
anything through misdirection. Her ears perked at the response,
followed by her nose scrunching a little bit at the mare saying
she was going to stay. She was starting to get a little
frustrated--not many ponies had stuck around this long. Either
most had just turned a cold shoulder to the overactive filly by
this point, or she'd already run off to unwittingly terrorize a
different pony. But there was another pony involved this time,
she couldn't just back out... At this point she only had to hope
the pegasus would admit defeat, because Nightingale, being the
stubborn little filly she was, certainly wasn't going to.
"Yeah, well... Get ready, you big turd!" Nightingale finally
called out to Agilene as she dug her hooves into the dirt
beneath her in preparation. A large breath of air was inhaled,
shortly before her horn flashed brighter for a moment. This was
followed by the sparking kitten dashing forward towards Agilene,
electricity flashing with every bound forward. At the same time,
the two cardinals swooped in on Agilene from the sides, as if to
catch her in a pincer attack. Just as with the missiles, there
would be no harm coming from the illusions making contact. Just
an underwhelming 'poof', if even that.
By the time these 'attacks' had completed--regardless of their
success--sweat had already begun to bead on Nightingale's
forehead as her eyes narrowed, doing her best to focus on the
tricky illusions and not overdo herself... though at this rate
she'd quickly fail, despite her natural talent and daily
       practice.

Agilene watched the magical creatures head towards her, their
fierce faces staring her down. As she thought to herself before,
this was not a game. It seemed too dangerous to have even a
little fun. From the way things were going, the only method of
getting out of it was to teach the young unicorn a lesson. But
Agilene had to get in close without those beasts in the way.
Using a combination of her legs and wings, she jumped forward
and propelled herself up at the same level as the cardinals.
Upon approaching the creatures, Agilene avoided them by
performing a front flip, her head being only inches above the
cat. Agilene levelled herself and used her wings to land softly
right in front of Nightingale. She stared the filly down with a
       contentious look.

To Nightingale's frustration, the pegasus leapt easily over Bai
Hu, and seemed to completely ignore the cardinals as they
swooped in on her. Not that the outcome would've changed even if
they had hit Agilene--Nightingale honestly had no backup plan.
Being too stubborn, she was at this point only trying to go for
an intimidation tactic to make the pegasus run, but that
obviously wasn't working. When Agilene landed in front of her
and stared down at her with an incredibly maddening look,
Nightingale glared back up at her with her own challenging look.
As she readied the illusions for round two, however, a sudden
wave of nausea and light-headedness washed over Nightingale.
With her vision swimming, she nearly stumbled over, but caught
herself just before she lost balance--so, from anypony else's
point of view, it looked like she started to lean over to the
side before she shook her head quickly and stood back upright.
As that happened, the illusions around her, even including the
one disguising her coat, shimmered for a moment before regaining
       their solidity.
Ignoring the threat of pushing her magical limits too far,
Nightingale moved the azure dragon so it wrapped itself loosely
around Agilene without actually touching her, the small circle
around the pegasus ending with the dragon's face looming in
front of the mare's. "You should really g..." Nightingale
interrupted herself by blinking a few times, trying to clear her
vision once more before looking at Agilene once again. "Give up!
       Your attacking-ponies-with-flashlights days are over...!"

Lamplight watches Nightingale's attack quietly, a slight frown
on her face. She still can't quite place where she knows the
creatures from. Her eyes follow them as they dart toward
Agilene, who avoids them in a display of impressive acrobatic
prowess and lands right in front of the filly. Nightingale
doesn't seem to be doing too well at this point, the filly
suddenly swaying, as though she's about to fall over. At the
same time, the summoned creatures and her dark coat flicker.
Lamplight blinks in surprise, distracted from considering where
she'd seen the summons before. They were illusions. In hindsight
she probably should have considered the possibility. A filly
being able to summon monsters was a bit far-fetched after all.
Glancing at Agilene, Lamplight steps in closer now that it was
clear there was no real danger. "Are you okay?" She asks
       Nightingale.

Agilene noticed Nightingale's uncomfortable expressions. It
appeared to her that the filly was feeling pain as she used
magic. Agilene was about to comment until she found the dragon
wrapping itself around her body. Her heart continued to race as
she watched it surround her. Clearly, there was no way out.
Agilene stayed as still as she could, thinking that a single
movement would encourage the creature to go on the attack.
Another aspect of the filly she spotted was her shimmering coat.
Was there more to this little one than meets the eye? Agilene
had to find out. Before she did so, however, her eyes turned to
Lamplight who had asked a question she did not know how to
answer. "Just hide somewhere safe," was all Agilene could say
before turning her attention back to Nightingale. "You do
realize you can stop whenever you want, correct? Perhaps we can
talk about this like how civilized ponies do." Judging by the
filly's current attitude, Agilene was not sure if she would
       respond politely.
