A Pepper on the Hunt.

Everyone's favorite morally and masculinely ambiguous pony
arrived in Ponyville from his farm in the early part of the
afternoon. He was tired, while he didn't have a huge pepper
farm, it was a good size and picking peppers by his own self was
getting a little old. So now Pepprspray was on the hunt for
help. His first stop was the bulletin board in town on which he
had witnessed many ponies place either help-or-work wanted ads
before.
The long maned pony looked about the board curiously, which
today seemed more full of Help Wanted than Work Wanted...until
he spied a particular work-wanted ad from a pony named Ryo....it
gave her description as a unicorn and a home address. Looking up
at the sun's position, Pepper estimated the time, and shrugged.
He would stop briefly at a public place with a stall, briefly
muss with his own mane to make hiself look more presentable and
off he went to Ryo's home address in ponyville!
Realizing she may not be home...or shy from moving to a new
place, Pepper moved to her front door slowly and knocked.
"Hello?" His soft voice called out, his view limited to his left
eye since his mane had fluffed up a bit from the mussing and
seemed to drape rakesihly over one eye. "I'm looking for
Ryo...you put a work-wanted ad up...?" His tail swished side to
side as he anticipated either an answer or silence.

Ryo was sitting by a small kitchen table, nibbling on apple
slices that served as her dinner. She would have to save bits,
as she still hadn't found a job, and lacked a steady income. Ryo
was half-way through her grandeur meal when she heard somepony
knock on her door. That's odd. She wasn't expecting for anypony
to visit her this afternoon. Not that she knew that many ponies
in Ponyville yet, but still. She was a bit hesitant to go to the
door, but when Ryo heard the pony outside mention her
work-wanted flier, Ryo quickly hopped down from the chair and
made her way to the door. She pushed the door open, and greeted
the pony behind it "I-i'm Ryo... A-and yeah... I did..." Ryo
wasn't sure if she should invite Pepper in, or if she should
step outside to talk. "Uhm... D-do you w-want to come in...?
O-or stay outside... And t-talk...?"

Pepper merely smiled a little bit. "Why don't we talk out here?
It's such a lovely day." And it was, a glorious, lovely day,
truly a gift from celestia in terms of being /just right/ in
Pepper's opinion anyway, which one might want to take with a
grain of salt since Pepper thought hot peppers were the perfect
spice for just about anything. Curiously he peered at Ryo.
"Well, the job I offer isn't too hard...it's just assisting me
with my Pepper farming." He said, getting to the point. "I'm
Pepper, and..well..I own a Pepper farm." He said with a soft
chuckle. "Really, it's easy work, My number of pepper bushes has
just grown beyond my means to handle it by myself. Used to have
my family to help out, but now it's just little ol' pretty me."
He said with a self-deprecating smile.

"O-okay..." Ryo stepped outside, as Pepper seemed to know how
these "job interviews" worked. She closed the door behind her,
before turning to Pepper. Ryo listened to Pepper's description
about the work. In the middle way through, when Pepper
introduced himself, Ryo quickly added her own introduction, that
at this point was somewhat pointless "R-Ryo..." Ryo said, also
extending her hoof for a hoof shake, to be as polite as she knew
how to be. After hearing the brief description of the job, Ryo
gave Pepper a eager nod. "S-sound good... I'm sure i can...
H-handle peppers. W-when can i start w-working...?"

Pepper thought a moment beforenodding slowly. "Why don't I show
you the way to the farm today and you can start with me bright
and early tomorrow? " he said as he used a hand to smooth out
his mane, tail swishing from side to side.

"T-tomorrow...? A-are you sure...? I-i mean.. S-sure..." Ryo
quickly retrieved her house key, locked the door and after
hiding the key in her mane, she was ready to follow Pepper to
his farm. "So... D-do i like... Help with h-harvesting the
p-peppers...?" Ryo wasn't the best pony to try and keep up the
small talk, but one could always try. Thankfully Pepper seemed
pretty talkative pony.

Pepper chuckled softly. "Yes, tomorrow." The pretty stallion
said with a nod as she eyed the door being locked, and chuckling
mentally when he saw where Ryo placed the key. "Good hiding
spot. Though I think if I hid anything in my mane it would get
lost." He said with a silly woe-is-me sigh before he turned,
beginning to lead Ryo off to the Pepper Farm. "Help with
harvesting, help me count how many we harvest at the end of each
day..." He said his tail swaying from sid eto side a bit. "Oh,
and perhaps you can help me spruve things up a bit, the farm's
gotten a little....down on the repairs, since it's just me
now..."

Ryo giggled a little when Pepper commented on her key hiding
spot. "Y-yeah... I usually keep my key behind my e-ear when i
d-don't have my saddlebags..." Ryo giggled a little when Pepper
told her why he doesn't hide stuff in his mane. His mane did
look pretty... Plentiful.
Ryo listened as Pepper listed stuff she would do on the farm,
none of it sounding too hard. She can count, picking peppers
can't be that hard and surely she can use hammer to fix stuff.
"S-sounds simple enough..." Ryo said, starting to wonder just
what kind of stuff needed to be fixed. "W-what kind of r-repairs
are you t-talking about...? L-like fences and s-stuff...?"

Pepper grinned. "Nah, you see, I fix relationships as well,
y'see this pepper? It doesn't mean just pepper plants...I
provide spice to relationships." He looked coyly at Ryo. "Hah.
Kidding, yeah, mainly just some fences, I'm going to need to
hire some ponies to get the roof of my storage barn repaired.."
His tail swayed form side to side as they walked. It wasn't a
long walk, but it seemed to wind and twist though it just
followed one road. The pepper farm seemed to come itno scnet
before sight, the tantalizing msell of pepper's of all kinds
wafting to their noses before plants and bushes bearing green
and reds nad yellows lined the path, leading to a small home
though their was evidence there might have been something bigger
here before.

"O-oh..." Ryo blushed a little when relationships were
mentioned. Her mind began to wander, but was quickly regained by
Pepper when he told her he was just kidding. Ryo's ears perked
up again, after hearing that the repairs weren't anything overly
complicated. She could use a hammer no problemo, and those
fences would be good as new in no time... Hopefully... "I-i
think i can manage that..." Thankfully Pepper had decided to
hire somepony else to fix the seemingly broken roof.
When they arrived to the farm, Ryo wrinkled her nose, as the
smell of various peppers reached her nostrils, and after few
more inhales, she sneezed quite loudly. Ryo quickly issued an
apology to Pepper, before walking after him again. The sight
itself was beautiful though, as multiple colors from the peppers
decorated the fields. Ryo threw a quick look at the fences as
they walked, changing her previous thought about them being
"Good as new in no time" to "They'll take some work... And
time..." But she didn't let this demoralize her. The small house
on the end of the road looked quite cozy, but for some reason
looked a bit off. Ryo didn't pay this any mind now though, as
they had arrived to the farm, and she was now waiting for
instructions on her future work routine from Pepper.
