Re: Premonition

Ruby continued to look up at the strange stallion that had put
himself in a tree, the same tree that Ruby had picked out to
lean against to try to study. This was not going to work at all,
not when he was sitting up there and whimpering. That would no
doubt become distracting and annoying if she were to even
attempt to go back to trying to read, and as far as she was
concerned, she didn't feel like moving from this spot that
offered a lovely view with the perfect volumes of sun and shade,
allowing her to simply scoot over a few feet to be in what she
fancied at the time. What a mess he had come to be making as
well. Just the act of getting onto that branch had shook it
enough to send some weaker leaves to the ground, covering a few
of her books and tomes with them.
Yet still, the snake that had draped itself over her shoulders
remained where it was. It most certainly had no interest in the
scared stallion, or for much of the rest of the world for that
matter. It had eaten something last week, and wasn't about to go
hunting for anything else, and that was pretty much all it
worried about from time to time. Instead, the snake just kept
tasting the air, and occasionally shifting its head to get a
better vantage point with which to do so. For now, this vantage
point happened to be on Ruby's shoulder, and it flicked its
tongue at the stallion before losing interest and flicking its
tongue back at Ruby's neck, which illicited another giggle from
her.
"Really, she is harmless. You can pet her if you want and she
won't even care... uhhh..." she struggled for the right thing to
say that would at least get him to come down from the tree that
she was studying under, but there was no doubt in her mind that
just saying get down from there you big baby would not go over
as well as she'd like, "C'mon, at least tell us why you don't
want to come down from there. You know that ball pythons are
very exceptional climbers, and a tree like this is nothing to
them, right? Staying up there isn't going to do you any good,
and is only going to make things hurt when you fall out of it."
Giving another sigh, she turned to Dais and said flatly, "If you
want to do something to help, how about you try to talk him down
from that tree, because the other plan I have involves some
things that I would rather save as a last resort."

"Of course!" said Dais, happy at being asked to help, his ears
darting up with a satisfying whoosh. He looked up at the
dangling pony one more time, narrowing his eyes and poking his
chin with a hoof in thought. He tapped it three times before his
eyes burst open, and Dais gasped, as though he had just realized
something.
"I've figured it out" he announced "The reason that gentlecolt
still isn't coming down or telling us what's wrong is... because
he's scared of that snake!"
Dais paused with a hoof proudly to his chest and eyes closed, as
if waiting for somepony to applaud him for his incredible
wisdom. After a moment, one eye popped open, and he glanced
around. A little disappointed at the immediate lack of
congratulations, but he nevertheless continued speaking, talking
like a superhero.
"Don't you worry, citizens! I, Dais Clash, assistant to the
mayor of Ponyville, am here to guide you through these troubled
times. Using my natural problem-solving abilities, I have
devised a completely fail proof method of dealing with this very
situation on our hooves. Listen carefully, I'm only going to
explain this once. It is absolutely pivotal to the success of
this mission that everypony plays their part. Do not disappoint
me. This could be the most important thing you hear today, so
please give me your full and undivided attention. Note that I am
not liable for injuries sustained due to shock or awe induced by
the overwhelming sense of awesome that my plans and policies
have been known to deliver.
"First, you, young mare, with your permission, will give me your
snake. This will prove to the gentlecolt in the tree that the
snake is harmless to other ponies, a crucial element in teaching
him to overcome his fears according to a book I once read. Then,
I shall walk with the snake over to that tree over there, a safe
distance away. I shall ensure the snake remains with me during
this time. Young mare, while I'm away, you must stay here, to
catch the gentlecolt when he comes down if he should fall. I'll
call out to you if there's a problem, and you'll be able to see
me anyway. Gentlecolt sir, I need you to come down from that
tree when I take the snake over there, and then run away as fast
as your hooves can carry you. It will probably NOT be a good
idea to scream wildly as you do, or to keep that expression on
your face for at least three weeks. If you need help dealing
with this or other fears, we have a pamphlet at the council
called Dealing With My Neighbor's Pet Manticore that should help
you out. After you're gone, I shall return with the snake and
all will be well.
"Is that alright with you, young mare?"
Though Dais was smiling again, he was also shaking visibly. It
wasn't that he feared safe snakes, but more that he didn't know
if he could trust the mare in front of him, whose sunlight he
had been occasionally blocking in his pacing. Especially with
the stallion's reaction, he hoped he wouldn't have to resort to
his backup plan - if the snake did attack him, he could quickly
teleport out of its grasp and run. He hoped he could do that
anyway. But putting aside his safety, it still seemed like a
good idea to him to give it a shot. He just hoped the mare would
be willing to give his plan a try - she did look rather attached
to the snake, in more ways than one.

Hawkson clings tighter to the branch as the snake as it flicks
it's tongue out at him. He's about to flip the snake and its
owner off (however a pony does that) before the magenta colored
unicorn says the snake can climb. Wait, what?He ignores
everything else she says after that and climbs up a branch
higher in the tree.
Oh then Captain Obvious, hero of the ponies, speaks his all
knowing wisdom. Oh thank you for pointing out that Hawson is
scared of the snake? Should Hawk clap for you? He doesn't,
obviously.
Wait... What? Ok frankly, that plan is !@#$ing stupid. Like what
is that guy on? Hawk could use some right about now. And no, he
wasn't going to read some stupid book. And what he trying to
sound like? The Power Ponies? Superheroes don't even talk like
that. And Hawk should know, he encountered one like five
minutes ago.
Instead of responding to any of the blue unicorn's crap Hawk
just continues clinging o the branch before he hears a "SNAP!"
and feels to the branch start to break.
"Well !@#$..." Hawkson mutters to himself.
(Sorry if I'm being a little too sarcastic here and offend
anyone.)

Re: Premonition

---------------------------------------------------------
Ruby gave Dais a mock disbelieving look, a sarcastic half-lidded
stare as he came to the conclusion that the pony in the tree was
terrified of snakes. As much as it was stating the obvious, she
could at least say that they were all on the same page now, for
what good that would do right now. Looking back up at the tree
just in time to see the stallion climb up to the higher branches
in the tree, Ruby shook her head slowly, unsure what to think in
this situation. Not only was he knocking even more leaves out of
the tree, but now he was in even more danger of falling. The
branches up higher were certainly not as sturdy as the ones that
he was on previously, and she could hear the gunshot cracks of
his weight causing them to buckle.
As Dais asked for the snake to show that it was actually
harmless, Ruby looked at the python, contemplating whether this
was a good idea or not, or if the snake would even like the idea
of being moved around a lot. It was worth a try though, she
supposed, and began lifting the heavy snake off of her
shoulders. Pharasma did not seem so willing to move, shifting
herself about to try to stay on Ruby, but eventually, Ruby ended
up with a good bulk of the python's body ready to hand over to
Dais. Just as she was about to place the snake on his back, the
snake did something that Ruby did not quite expect: it let out a
low, rolling warning hiss. The airy sound immediately caused
Ruby to pull the python back, looking at it out of confusion and
saying, "What's the matter, girl? You haven't hissed like that
for a long time. Are you..."
She paused once more, scrunching up her face as she thought
about it before shrugging and putting the python back on her
back, where it proceeded to wrap itself securely around her, not
willing to leave again, "I never thought snakes could become
possessive of a pony to the point where they don't want to be
held by anypony else, but... well, I guess it makes sense, since
I haven't really tried forcing her to go to somepony else
before, like, ever." She felt the python squeeze on her a little
bit, but only enough to be noticeable. It wasn't like it was
uncomfortable, for all she knew, she was getting the non-lethal
version of a python's signature hug.
So that was that plan out the window then, and as Ruby looked
back up to the top of the tree as she heard the loud snap that
signified that the branch was not about to have anymore of
Hawkson's weight, Ruby commented, "Well, he's only put himself
in a worse situation, but he could look on the brightside: the
fall doesn't hurt, it's hitting everything on the way down that
does," she giggled to herself, as this has now turned into a
spectacle that was perhaps a little amusing, "tell you what,
since Pharasma is not having any of your plan, how about I cut
out the middle pony and just go stand over there while he climbs
down?" She gestured to another tree a few yards away before
calling back up, "Should give you enough time to get away, after
all, the average land speed of a chicken is much greater than
that of a snake~." Giving another chuckle, she walked to where
she gestured, sitting down and petting her snake as she watched
what she thought would be chaos as the stallion in the tree
dealt with his situation.

Dais listened to Ruby, and flinched heavily when the snake
started to hiss, but other than that it was little hard to focus
on her when the tree branch looked increasingly close to
breaking. His eyes frequently darted about, sometimes looking
worried at the tree branch or at Hawkson, and sometimes around
the park, wondering if there might be some other pony nearby
whom the snake might be more friendly with.
When the branch cracking Dais gasped and fixed his eyes on the
point where it was breaking, his pupils growing smaller by the
second. He didn't respond when Ruby went away in her own attempt
to cut out the middle pony, as she put it - indeed, Dais was so
focused on the tree that he barely registered anything else that
was happening at all.
"Easy there, citizen" winced Dais "That's not a tree you'll want
to be breaking. I can levitate the branch in place easily
enough, but still, it'll be really inconvenient for me to have
to mend that all up, with there not being any rainstorms
scheduled for some time. Just climb down, alright? There's
nothing to be afraid of."
Suddenly, Dais caught a strange sense of deja vu, as if he'd
said something along those lines quite recently before, but he
couldn't place it, so quickly resumed staring intently at the
crack in the branch.

Hawk winces as the snake just about horribly murders the blue
unicorn. He keeps his eyes locked on the snake as it wraps
around the magenta colored one. It would probably have murdered
them all by now if the magenta unicorn hadn't obviously cast
some sort of taming spell on it or something like that.
Otherwise it would have horribly ripped them into pieces by now.
Hawkson listens to the magenta one use the sarcasm that defined
him against him. He suddenly adjusts himself to be sitting on
the branch with his back legs hanging off, which was an
admittedly uncomfortable condition, and raises his front legs in
a sort of X and then motions the X shape towards her, his own
little motion for "!@#$ you you stupid little !@#$!" But as he
does the branch makes another "SNAP!" and breaks, making Hawkson
fall with a line of curse words that would immediately kill a
foal's innocence if they heard it.
He lands directly in front of the blue unicorn with another
curse word rhyming with "bunt" as the blue one finishes saying
how Hawk should get down before the branch breaks. Idiot.

Ruby watched from her little view of the scene as the stallion
fell from the broken branch and out of the tree, trying to count
how many branches he hit on the way down. This was so much fun
to watch, for the brief amount of time that he had been falling,
especially considering the rather rude gesture and expletives he
had been shouting at her just before he fell. It was like a sort
of karmic justice, and she was okay with it. She sat where she
said she would stay, because Celestia knows she didn't want to
go through the trouble of getting him back out of the same tree
again, but that didn't mean she didn't want to take advantage of
the situation.
"What was that? I couldn't hear you. Your voice was sort of
drowned out by the sound of you falling." Now if you could
please be on your way, I would like to get back to the books
that are now absolutely covered in leaves and find a new spot to
sit in. As she waited in her spot, she once again began petting
Pharasma, just watching the other two for now.

(I totally swear I didn't get my usual email telling me somebody
had posted that time - sorry that I keep getting this wrong!)
Dais was caught completely off-guard by the falling tree branch.
Even though he'd been looking at it intently, readying himself
to catch it with a levitation spell zap, the crack was loud
enough to actually stun him for a moment. Shaking his head, he
looked in shock at the empty sky where the tree branch used to
be, and reflexively fired the powerful levitation spell he had
prepared, which soared into the open sky like a blue bolt of
lightning, a random pegasus nimbly darting out of the way. By
that time, the pony who had been stuck in the tree was already
down on the ground and cursing something, but thankfully a flock
of birds in a nearby tree flew away chirping at just that
moment, startled by the sound of the falling tree branch, and
also the clocktower rang, as the bell was being tuned. Together
the branch, birds and bell drowned out the sound of any
continued cursing in the air.
Which was just as well, because as the spell missed, Dais had
let slip a curse of his own that was so bad, it was actually
illegal to say.
A little dazed, Dais heard the young mare, who had been quite
peacefully reading, call something over. He assumed it was
related to the fact that her little spot now had an angry pony
and a tree branch on it, but he wasn't sure. The combination of
his previous feelings of inadequacy, his need to be professional
at this time, and his immediate problem with the branch were all
doing his head in. Taking a deep breath, Dais needed a moment to
compose himself. He blinked a few times, looked around, shuffled
his hooves, and finished.
"Don't you all worry, citizens..." announced Dais Clash "I can
see exactly what the problem is here. Not only that, but I have
the perfect plan for dealing with it... listen carefully, this
plan is important..."

Hawkson gets up up and brushes himself off as Ruby calls over to
him. He mutters something along the lines of "Stupid !@#$%^,
such an @!#hole..." with the strongly worded insults directed at
Ruby, in case you couldn't tell. Hawkson is slightly surprised
that Dais would let such a beautiful cuss word slip like that,
but thinks nothing of it.
Hawkson narrows his eyes at Dais as he begins explaining another
one of his absolutely brilliant plans. "Wait a second, you do
realize that whatever it is you're going to say won't work and
even if it does we'll just ignore you because, frankly, nopony
gives two !@#$s right?" Hawkson says, turning to Dais and
interrupting him before he can finish suggesting they all go on
a canoe ride to bond as friends or whatever. Hawkson then
notices that Ruby's snake is still around. his eyes widen and
he hides behind Dais, exclaiming "Unless, of course, your plan
involves brutally murdering the serpent over there ans, in which
case, feel free to kill the !@#$ing thing." He then proceeds to
cower behind Dais like a 3 year old.

Carri, following instructions given to her by Brash, slowly
scans the ground in search of Dais whilst holding onto a very
large boulder. She found it strange that Brash wanted to give
Dais two dozen boulders and that they were to be delivered as
close to Dais as possible, but a job's a job.
Presuming he may still be at the park Carri quickly finds Dais
and excitedly advances over him, releasing the boulder as she
gets near. The boulder crashes into the park grounds and
destroys everything under it, landing only close enough to Dais
and Hawkson that they're merely sprayed with a light amount of
dirt. Carri panics and lands on the boulder and looks about to
make sure everypony is alright, then quickly retrieves a note
form her jacket and reviews it.
Muttering to herself as she goes over the note, "Find minimum
one ton boulder... do not call out intention to drop... release
from at least a dozen feet... do not engage in conversation at
any time..." Carri's mutterings grow quieter and she stands
there for a while, only now questioning if this sort of thing is
really safe.
